MLB The Show 17 News Post

We have captured a bunch of MLB The Show 17 screenshots from the trailer that was released earlier today. While the quality isn't going to be as good coming from a video, these will have to do until we get actual in-game screenshots.

If there are some things you spot from the screenshots, let us know what you're seeing!

Okay, well there's one theory shot down.

It really is a disappointment seeing player models remain relatively the same again this year. I really thought this might be the year, especially after all the backlash player models received last year.

Really, if they didn't feel like creating brand new skeleton proportions and all that, I think the next best route would be to alter the way uniforms fit, especially the jersey, new options for fit, less baggy sleeves etc.

This coupled with a few new body types, instead of just the current 3 there is in the game would go a long way in at least partially addressing the player model issues.

Great to see New Balance, hopefully they got Adidas as well and it just wasn't in this build, Also hopefully they got brand new Nike, UA, etc gear (especially Nike batting gloves).

There's no way they could go into 4th year on PS4 and still not address the uniform numbers being too low on nameless jerseys...right? Surely such an issue would be fixed by now, and it was just an old build used for the trailer...right?

Also, sucks to see Indians still not have red undershirts for their jerseys.

I'm really hoping the reason why the Indians don't have their red undershirts is because it's an early build. I know for most people it's not a big deal, but I play as the Indians 95% of the time and it's a huge deal for me. Possibly a game breaker.

And please don't come at with the whole how can that possibly be a game breaker. I wan't the true authenticity of the team I'm gonna be using 95% of the time. It really takes away from my experience.

I'm very curious to see what we missed with the RTTS bit, because the few seconds we saw is something I've been hoping for (and begging for in various threads) for years.

Considering this is the first vid, and pre-beta at that, I never expect that much but it had some things I'm excited to see touched on in future videos.

I understand others' frustrations, but me? I'm just counting down the days until we get a fact sheet and Twitch stream.

If I was a betting man I would put my money on the first version of MLB The Show for PlayStation 5 when we finally see new player models with new skeleton proportions and other big enhancements. So lets say MLB The Show 20???

I just checked their undershirts are blue in the style guide.

Will there be an updated style guide for this year? They were red all year last year. They wear red shirts and red socks. It was this way since opening day last year.

Anyway you can look into getting this changed?

I was looking at the 2017 guide, socks are not in the guide I think we can change those if they are incorrect.

That's good to hear. I hope all those posts I made last year about all the throwback uniform socks helped you guys out.

Yeah, they are definitely red socks. I'll hold out hope for the undershirts. I'd appreciate it if there was any way you could check into getting them changed.

Thanks

Call/write the Indians and tell them to update their guide. If I'm not mistaken someone did this a few years ago with the Mets.

BTW, for those who don't know it's not mandatory for teams to update their guide each year or frequently.

Thank you. I will actually do that.

The process doesn't really work like that, it's not on us to update the style guide.

Would it be possible to expand uniform customization options then to be able to edit under shirts and socks to any of the team colors? Thatd be cool and it would be a work around for issues with the style guide. Do you know what i mean?

When your talking about licensed uniforms some stuff can't be made editable.

I understand that and i appreciate your response, how about if we could select the undershirts and socks seperately, so the socks and undershirts arent tied to the pants and jerseys when selecting uniforms. The indians for example do have a uniform set that uncludes a red undershirt and red socks. So when selecting team uniforms instead of just being able to select hat jersey and pants, perhaps we could also select undershirt, socks and helmet. That could be done, right?

I'm wondering whether they will fix gameplay in manage mode and other people are worried about socks and underwear.

It is always interesting to see what people focus on.

You're right, every year I get carried away with the little details the devs announce and then honestly barely notice most of them while playing the game.

I just happened to hop in on a question ramone was answering. It would be nice to have uniforms in the game that teams actually wear and it seems like an easy fix.
