Madden NFL 17 News Post


Madden NFL 17 patch 1.03 is available now, weighing in at 4.8 GB on PlayStation 4 and 368 MB on Xbox One.

You do not need to reset online or offline franchises in order for this patch to affect them. We have posted some of the details below, official patch notes will be posted as soon as we get them.

UPDATE: Here are the official Madden NFL 17 patch notes:
  • Fixed a gameplay issue where the player on defense could tell if the opponent was going to run or pass
  • Client-side fix for the bug where you could see ratings of the upcoming draft class prior to the draft (server fix already applied to Cloud Franchises)
  • Reduce the amount of strip-tackle attempts made by the CPU
  • Fixed a major desync which was happening when a user went from Skills Trainer to Online (happened fairly often after the new-user flow)
  • No passing icons on PA, Force defender tuning, nano detection system tuning, users not getting stamina penalty when meter depleted
  • Force defenders not dropping back vs. run when in zone coverage; Play Action desync; Fumble frequency in MUT solos.
  • Lots of high priority gameplay fixes that includes:
    • Stripping the Ball from behind the ball carrier is overpowered - We found a bug where the defender was getting multiple rolls at causing a fumble per animation
    • Occasionally on Play-Action passes, the user would be unable to throw the ball
    • Play-Action Pass Desync Online Head to Head Desync
    • MUT Online - Fixed an issue with Cowboys uniforms that could result in a 'white on white' situation
    • Acquisitions Screen showing rookie/free agent ratings before the draft - fixed
    • Fixed a crash that would occur in the Guantlet after making an interception in the Big Man Rumble challenge
    • Occasionally, users were triggering 'Nano Detection' when successfully using the 'Off the Line Mechanic' on RT as a pass rusher
    • Occasionally, users would lose all pre-play functionality when selecting a defensive linemen while breaking the huddle
    • Occasionally, user would see defensive plays disappear in the playbook screen after selecting an audible during the previous play
    • Fumbles occurring too frequently in MUT solos where the CPU-controlled team started with the lead
    • Force Players will be better at containing the edge once they get engaged
    • Force player will be faster in breaking out of Read and React and into Force
    • Cover 1 plays were sometimes not aligning to Trips formations correctly
    • Occasionally, offensive linemen would run to the end zone and not block when running no huddle repeatedly in Draft Champions.
    • When Force players on the playside of any non-counter runs had a zone coverage assignment, they would drop back into coverage at the snap - this has been fixed
    • Fixed a Crash in Franchise mode that would sometimes occur in Franchise mode Practice during goal completion

Have to play more but I've played Wilson, Mariota, and Kaepernick pre-patch and through the probably 30+ games I'd played had only seen a scramble like that one time and it was by Derek Carr. Outside of that one play though Wilson was a statue for the entire game so it could have just been a flukey thing.

I just want to know if the excessive player clipping has been addressed. Players walking through player's bodies after the play, limbs fusing together, body parts fusing through the field, etc...? I can't play the game in it'so current state because of this. It's killing the experience for me. They had this fixed last year so what gives?

See I don't think that one is that bad compared to some of the ones I have seen.
There is a LB hot on his tail atleast.

I'm not saying it's bad. I'm saying it's awesome. I didn't see Taylor or anyone doing that in the games before the patch. I like that he scrambled and when he didn't think he could run for the 1st he tried to hit the guy who had some separation.

IMO EA should build some sort of logic which punished "No Huddle" spammers. If folks go with "No Huddle" offense outside of the final 2 mins, players on offense should lose their stamina much more than the defensive players or they should drop the ball a lot more. Have you watched NFL football lately? I do not advocate any cheesing online, but the offense has a huge advantage over the defense in today's NFL and uptempo offenses play a huge part in that. 12 QB's threw for over 4,000 yds last year, and it should have been 13! Think about the numbers being put up by offenses, in no way is it fair real football either.

If we want sim then the offense should have the advantage in Madden as well.

I don't notice it that much. Post play I usually skip till I get to my plays. I only care what goes on afrer snap. I think the bigger issue is the camera that keeps showing the coach over and over. It's quite annoying

Did they tweak the fg blocking??? I've played 2 games since patch and cmp blocked fg, punt, extra point ...


Hope they didn't tweak anything in that area.

Hold X on PS4 after you kick the ball, it prevents the blocks most of the time.
it makes your kicker kick the ball quicker.

Whats this?
When you look at the Coach Cam pre snap the Force Defender is displayed with an "F" over him. He is designated with not allowing a running play to get outside.

Just finished a couple CFM games against the Bucs and Bears and Winston didn't scramble for any yards. Both Winston and Cutler moved around in the pocket but most of the time when they would turn right into a sack or roll out and just hang onto the ball even though the pressure was coming at them and they should have thrown it away.

I'm in my second game, and QB's are scrambling in Franchise Mode now. Faced a rookie QB in my first game, and now I'm facing Kellen Moore and we have him squirming. Looks to be fixed for me. I'll check out their traits when I get out of this game...

CPU's run D as a whole seems much improved. In my test CFM w/ Dallas I was averaging about 150 ypg with Elliott. Playing at SF now in Week 4 and I currently have 13 carries for 19 yards with him. Will have to see if it's an anomaly next game.

Yeah but it didn't happen at all in 16 & I'm even noticing it during plays as well. They just need to make physics consistent across the board at all times. Also what's not game breaking to you may be for others & vice versa. Just sayin....

Had Andy Dalton take off and try to run against me yesterday. Yes, pre patch. I actually injured him on a big hit because of it..maybe them not running is a good thing for them!
