Madden NFL 17 Equipment Upgrades - Helmets, Facemasks, Gloves, Cleats & More

A lot of you have been waiting for the Madden NFL 17 team to show off the equipment upgrades this year. Today is the day! The team has added a few helmets and updated some others. They have also brought in new facemasks and updated some more. New gloves, cleats and other accessories were also added this year. Check out the list below and the full blog here.

New Accessories

One-Arm Sleeves - These will be set on each player that wears this style via the default roster so the players in Madden will match their real-world counterparts; these sleeves can also be customized when editing and creating players.
Updated Wrist-Tape Options - Black, Team Primary Color and Team Secondary Colored Wrist-Tape
Updated the Ankle-Tape options and re-named them to 'Half-Spat' and 'Full-Spat'
All the new sleeves, gloves and shoes are set-up for color-swapping to match each team�s primary and secondary colors, as well as black and white.

My favorite equipment addition is secondary team color sleeves and tape. Thank you so much for all the additions. I haven't been anxious for a football game in a long time and I can't wait to play Madden '17.

I'm going to use it liberally. So much better than real life, with the "one color per base layer" rule.

Its nice but it will look off if only a few guys are matching the way you want them too while everyone else is wearing the wrong color, and will be a pain in the butt to have to go into your roster and manually switch everybody to the color you want to match up with for every different uniform combination. You should be able to choose sleeve color the way you choose sock color

What I'm interested in is what teams like the eagles will have as the secondary colors given their secondary color would be a silver that is practically white. I would prefer they make Kelly Green the secondary color so it would match with the throwbacks but I guess we'll see?

Tough to say, because the secondary team colors are apparently based on the accent colors of the standard jerseys. They may just go with the silver as an Oregon kind of color scheme, since kelly green might deviate too much from their forest green/black/white/silver color scheme. Thats why we need to be able to choose what the team wears for team colors. The only thing NFL teams give their players leeway in is wrist/forearm bands and sleeves. Sleeves and cleats have to conform with whatever the team sets as the standard. This way the devs could give us very different alternate colors that would correctly match throwback jerseys, such as Eagles and Jets green, Bucs creamsickle, Bills navy blue, Chargers powder blue, etc

Awesome stuff. Now they just need an option to turn off BCA uniform modifications in CFM so your players don't look like damn flamingos for 1/4 of the season

They really just need to tone it down to a more realistic level. I think it's great that they even have it in the game though.

Options are good. The big issue is that every team- or secondary- colored accessory, including cleats, turn pink (i.e. for the Packers, Green is the team color, yellow is the secondary). They should just make one or the other turn pink at the very least, but I'd prefer a on/off toggle.

excited about the new equipment - though the huge amount they added makes me even more puzzled as to why we still don't have something so simple as mouthguards.

Kane said its because it causes problems with the head scans and because the players talk, they just have to figure out a solution.

I'm surprised they only have one option when it comes to pants. I thought they would of had a few for us to pick from.

If other games can get mouth guards no excuse that EA can't, hopefully next year.

The new cleats helmets, face masks all look great. They look so good it makes you notice even more how bad the player body types and proportions are.

Unless you're asking for little clear mouthpieces they aren't even close to the same thing, not at this point in time.

The full coverage mouth guards would have to be physics based and able to move. It's a technical nightmare.

I have always thought a good option for sleeves, arm bands etc. would be "match jersey" or have diff settings for Home and Away.

A lot of players change their equipment out Home Vs. Away. Not a huge issue by any means, but would be cool nonetheless.
