That was quite possibly the most uninspiring trailer i've seen. What happened to years passed of showing the core elements of football in trailers? Now all they show is gimmicks---just goes to show you where the overall direction and focus of this game has gone towards---gimmicks. Why not make a trailer of the league's most popular TE receiving the flip from the holder on a fake-field goal attempt with a gimmicky rap song in the background? The likelihood of that happening in real life is slim to none. I mean you really can't even see the holder flipping the ball to Gronkowski on the play, all you really see is him trucking through a defender. The mechanics of the designed play aren't shown. Rather, all you see is Gronkowski running with the ball and running over a Jets defender.

And not to be too nitpicky, but don't even get me started on that awful song playing in the background. A first-look trailer is supposed to get you excited for what's to come next in the revealing of the game. Nothing in that trailer made me want to see what else is in store for the game. We want a simulation football game, not fantasy land. With madden in some cases it seems all logic is thrown out the window just to showcase the most popular players in the league mimicing what they do in real life, although to a MUCH higher extent. Just look at the emphasis they put on one handed catches after putting Odell Beckham Jr on the cover.

I know it may seem like im looking way too far into this, but we are seeing now what we see every year and it's looking like more of the same from EA. At the end of the day, hopefully that was just marketing-team bs and not a reflection of what's to be in the game.

I don't know any opening trailer that reveals the core gameplay/elements of the game being shown. Maybe they wanted to save the bigger stuff for when they release information in increments with explanations.

As far as the "we want simulation football", you don't speak for the majority.

This was a hype trailer, the first one they've released at all so far and it honestly was just to reveal the cover athlete.

Be patient, guys. We'll get more trailers and more videos. I'm waiting for nothing but what franchise improvements they've made this year. Seems like they're taking a BIG step.

Shout out to Roadman and JP for their continued faith on Rex and his team that they really are working on delivering us an amazing next Gen franchise mode

It's a first look trailer, man. It's not supposed to be inspiring. It's essentially a teaser. Look at last year where the first look trailer was essentially 10 seconds of actual gameplay and it was just four catches. This stuff isn't aimed at anyone besides the dude sitting on the couch eating cheetos who sees Gronk breaking tackles and decides that looks like fun so he might buy.

People around here clearly don't understand the meaning of teaser trailer just to reveal the cover athlete.

This is why I stay far away from the madden forums. It's been real guys, later.

We're closer to Madden 17's release (3 months) than that trailer was to Madden 25's (6 months). Think about that for a second...

I'm not even upset about it, honestly, I wasn't expecting much. But it baffles me how far people will go to put the onus of things on the gamers instead of the people who make this stuff.
Madden 25 was also the first release on a next Gen system. Of course they're going to show much much more in that aspect.

I haven't even played madden in two years because I wasn't happy with the product. I checked out the free demo they were offering for 16 last week and I can definitely see they're going in the right direction.

But we're on madden 17, they don't need crazy amounts of reveal trailers at this point like they did for 25. This was a hype trailer for the cover athlete plain and simple. If people understood that and excersized a bit more patience and understanding, they'd be a lot less upset with this trailer.

Oh man I remember, that was a travesty. It also seemed to me that first reveal trailer was ALOT of CGI.

They're giving us real game footage with this teaser at least. There will be more to come. This was honestly just to reveal the cover athlete and people are looking for way much more out of it.

I am very confident in the future of franchise mode, like I said last year, and it's because I've seen/heard first hand what they are wanting to do. I think last year they were just trying to lay a foundation with the menus and mostly investing in resources for the future.

First news of the latest Madden gets lots of us "fans" going. It's exciting to me personally and I've checked what's what for years now.

That being said [and after continuous years of 'where's the realism/sim criticisms'] the newest Madden of them all is on one hand, touting to be "revolutionary" and "addressing the core three phases of football game play" while on the other hand featuring it's latest cover athlete in a not really spectacular looking gadget special teams play?

Clunky gadget special teams plays coming soon(TM)? That's our very first look at what's "new and/or improved" for this year's game?

Is that really being too critical?

Good for Gronk to get the cover. He seems a bit of a lunk head but damn he's a force in the game right now.

I see where you're coming from, but let's keep it real man. The casual fan doesn't wanna see a missed field goal, or some other basic special teams play.

They wanna see the coverboy apart of a trick play, juking and dodging fools in the open field for a TD. THOSE are the fans this trailer was catered too, not the sim crowd. Our videos will come

Marketing made the decision over the developers to cast a wide net to catch more than the 5 to 6 million people that buy the game.

The trailer was not for us, it is what it is.

I'm glad they gave us actually gameplay instead of a pre-rendered trailer that they claim is in game footage. The Madden 25 first look trailer still looks better than Madden 17.

I'm waiting for the E3 trailer before I pass judgment on what 17 is. I believe Rex said this cover trailer was just to showcase Gronk, and Rex said it shows about 5% of what they did this year.

I can't remember how it was last year but didn't we get some gameplay clips with the Blogs that they released? If that's the case then hopefully we get some more gameplay clips this week.

I think they may have had a stream of some sort but I could be wrong and just thinking of E3. It would definitely be nice to get some clips or even gifs within the articles showing off some of the things they've improved. I think one thing they should do specifically is show the same play verse a certain defense with the same two teams side by side with M16 and M17 and show what's changed with gap play and zones.

I'm a barely-posting kinda member, and I've read a good amount of this thread (but not all of it, so sorry if this has been brought up) but.....

When you post a trailer with what Madden looks like now, spliced with (is it CGI or Real or almost real like NFS went) what Madden should look like.....it makes Madden look like 10 Yard Fight in comparison.
