So far everything that was teased could've been easily addressed with a patch or DLC but it's cool to see new cleats and equipment in the game tho.

Anxious to see the features and Franchise mode.

Also it seems like they'll never make teams with multiple/stripes socks adjustable

while i wasn't blown away by the trailer, we are a month away from seeing the game in full at EA play. a reveal trailer is the least of my worries

Does anyone know if the player models changed? The lineman still look a little too small to me (maybe it's just me...idk) And i'm thinking/hoping those aren't the FINAL arm sleeves.

Meh. Pretty much what I expected.

Ehh, the trailer did nothing for me. The details released about gameplay is what has me giddy.

Man this trailer is really disappointing for me. Line play doesn't look to have been addressed at all, you have Gronk playing as an elusive runner when he has time and time been a power guy (big body TE that breaks out of tackles not avoids them). I'm not a big equipment guy so I have no real complaints about that (except it is hilarious he has a sleeve on the in game shots but not in the out of game shots).

As first impressions go I am severely underwhelmed, especially with the flavor trailer being a fake field goal which rarely is successful and is usually only successful when the ball carrier is untouched or only has one man to beat. I'm also disappointed that running the ball hasn't seemed to be addressed as far as movement with defenders and contact with defenders. It also doesn't give me much hope for defense as the angles and reaction from defenders against Gronk doing things like juking or hurdling of all people is extremely poor form, who the heck lets Gronk spin, juke, and hurdle them without making any real attempt at contact.

All that said, I'm going to ignore this trailer as anything more than flavor trailer to get people excited that doesn't have any true indication of the actual feature (and hopefully was made early in the games cycle). I'll hold my judgement until I see some actual gameplay and see how they have improved on CFM to pass judgement.

Edit:
This was written before I saw the info posted in the 3 phases thread. Which has improved my outlook, now hopefully we get some actual videos displaying the things they are talking about. It also leads me to believe that this is indeed just a flavor trailer.

Until I see an actual "Game Play" video I am not moved either way; this video showed more of the real life Gronk, than the in game Gronk, and was more a stuttering special effects show than a Football game show; I am surprised they didn't add in a reverse slow-mo effect of Gronk hurdling the Jet defender.

This game will never reach its full potential until the foundation is fixed which is gameplay...New equipment, that's cool, gap assignments that's cool but how the overall game plays is ridiculous at times as far as animations and it seems like the dev team keeps giving us the same excuse every year that they know overall animations is lacking and they keep procrastinating like it's not one of the biggest parts of the game.simply are you going to fix them or not???

Love the new shoes!!!

Wonder how many new styles will be released.

After a few years following these forums, and many years playing madden, this sounds like their biggest leap from one year to the next since the 2k days

I agree there are serious issues remaining on the fundamental level. Unfortunately, they are never going to be fixed completely. That would require tearing down the engine itself and skipping at least one release, if not two.

I'm not a programmer so I can't explain how deep the rabbit hole goes; it would be great if they could at least get the animations better, but I have no idea how much that falls on the engine itself, limited by its flaws. I would assume the AI interaction is quite complex and deals heavily in calculations, but the warping, sliding, complete lack of momentum and physics needs to get taken care of before the game can ever be "great."

They wouldn't necessarily have to take a year off, they just have to have a solution for the problems, and start building systems on the side to implement.

NBA 2K used to have terrible animations, they never took a year off and now they're arguably the best in the game. They just have to know what they want to do, and then execute.

Definitely gotta see more, but I slowed down the video(as I usually do) and still saw the same bad sliding type movement on defense. Other than that I loved the juke and hurdle animations. Still hate the base running animation though (as seen in the final two clips) Also love the cleat options. Probably won't see mouth guards but whatever, must be a bigger issue.

What the hell was wrong with the ball in that final clip? Joint was spinning then just froze for two seconds. Used to that type of stuff in a Madden game though...

Sorry about that. Twitter takes up a lot of the time I used to spend on OS. I'll try and be more active here.

I hate to be the cynic but I will believe all of the claims EA is making when I see them in action. Last years game had a lot of potential but I found that the longer I played it the more issues that became more noticeable and slowly the game became unplayable in franchise for me.

The trailer has me intrigued enough to buy the game. Its been a decade since I last purchased madden, I loved the tackling animations good job.

Why can't madden have the over the mouth pieces like they had on the PS2 games? This is something they should easily be able to add into the game. So many players are wearing these now. Seems lazy.
