MLB The Show 16 News Post

Perhaps the best element of MLB: The Show is its ability to get into the head of its player. The CPU A.I. is designed to toy with the player just as a pitcher would on the mound. A fastball here, a curveball there, and before you know it, you're watching your player walk back to the dugout empty handed.

Not all pitches were created equal, however. Kershaw's curve is unfair, Harvey's fastball is practically invisible and Sale's slider is just downright scary. With that in mind, what are the toughest pitches to hit in MLB: The Show 16?

Felix's changeup is unhittable when he's locating it. Best changeup in the game. Other than that I cannot hit or layoff high fastballs, or outside sliders.

The low change up makes me want to punch walls

I'll be different and say that the up-and-in cutters and 2seamers running in on the hands are tough.

Backdoor slider is a mother in this game.

Yes. Sliders in general seem to have more of a sudden break to them. So they're giving me much trouble.

Good topic.

It's the only way I can hit consistently in this game.

I use a view based on Pitcher Center.

I find I either have a hard time with the depth perception from the catcher views or the ball travels slowly that my timing is off and I'm early on everything, even 98 MPH fastballs.

Last couple years, max pitch speed helped with that - this year it just seems slower even with max pitch speed sliders.

I started using it in MLB15 and actually had to turn pitch speed down (I never turn it down) when I got the view I have now because stuff was just getting on me too fast.

This year, I still have to max it and it looks a lot like last year on 5. I don't know, maybe I'm weird.

That mother ****ing low change. 84 mph at the shins. Can't even fight it off most of the time.

Fast ball high and tight is the toughest for me.

Is there a way to check user stats based on all games you have played? I am pretty sure I am sporting a .100 batting average or less on changeups in or out of the zone. Circle change gives me the most trouble. I could easily have 50%+ swinging strikes on those pitches.

I agree with everyone saying low change-ups and 12-6 curveball. At least this year I'm able to fight them off a little better.

Except for Mike Fiers. That 12-6 curve at 70 mph, I feel like I'm taking a coffee break waiting for it for so long. And I still am out in front almost every time.

Kyle hendricks 76mph change up, it is damn near impossible to sit back on, he had a no hitter going into the 8th on me. Could not for the life of me hit that pitch.

The knuckle-curve has always given me fits.

I am struggling to hit the slider this year. I'm typically too early or early enough to roll it over or pull it foul.

Thanks to the new Wide camera, low change ups no longer own me.

I'm still waiting for someone to say 4seamer right down the middle.
If I could tell that to the opposing catcher, I would

I eat knuckles and 12-6 curves for breakfast..I don't know, I pick them up very well..Now the low change up..that bugger gives me fits of rage..The away slider gets me too

Another vote for the outside slider.

I wind up psyching myself out on 4 seamers down the pipe sometimes. I'm so used to moving the pci around..my brain says hey you aren't moving your PCI move it somewhere! And I wind up fouling it straight back or popping up

I do the same thing. Too often, because I struggle with them, I'll think its a slider starting over the middle of the plate and move my PCI to the outside of the zone and hit a weak grounder or pop up.
