NBA Live 16 Makes Its Move Up the Ladder

Has there been a more polarizing sports game this year than EA’s most recent basketball title? Either people have really enjoyed the game or simply hated it, but very few have fallen in the middle. When Ben Vollmer initially reviewed NBA Live 16 here at Operation Sports, he gave the title a 6.0 out of 10, meaning the game was above average but far from a classic.

Some of the game's initial downfalls were no customization, average gameplay and poor commentary. While any review is subjective and only one person’s opinion, our review fell into line with what most thought. In addition to the shortcomings listed already, the game lacked proper animations, and many of the incoming rookies and lesser known players had generic created faces.

Maybe four updates to go along with rosters. Those are not patches. Those may include small tweaks to their gameplay maybe by tuning their own sliders, but they are not patches. As you can see within this NBA Live forum there has only been one actual patch.

And most of those updates were simply adding a few jerseys in with rosters, etc. I remember last year every time a roster came out it said updated data and everyone instantly thought that something happened. They gave no notes and it always had a placebo effect where people thought something happened and it didn't.

And please. Show me four patches with full patch notes. Any patches always have official notes so please prove me wrong.

Really poor timing for such an article.

Especially given stuff like Porzingas and others with generic faces, a full mode (yes that's right a FULL ADVERTISED MODE) that does not work (Rewind and Big Moments fyi), much more frequent shirtless player bugs, freezing during Rising Star etc.

I'd want someone who knew the game inside out to be writing articles.

There have been a total of 3 patches, last patch being the biggest one that should have came out with the game on release date. This article is not miss leading by any means if you have only play the demo and only read what you see online and haven't played the game since the demo, the game has came along way and still has ways to go. There are head Starching bugs and glitches but game plays way better than it did on release, and I know that for a fact cause I had the game before release from the NY event.

I'm downloading a 2.6 GB update right now. I already played this morning so I assume this is a 4th patch I'm getting right now?

There have been 3 to 4 patches and smaller updates as you start the game up that may be small scale tweaks. I loved the demo and I have borrowed the game a few times to change pace when 2K seems to become to much. I'd say a solid 7 because the online is fun but I have been preaching my motto for live. "They forgot to include the 21 gigs of defense". 2K is a big game on my hard drive but overall I am a defensive player and live is making strides at adding back a consistent customer.

P.S. $20 on XBOX One EA Access. I might as well just grab it this weekend. That's greatest hits price right there. (PlayStation 2 days)

Too many in game mechanics are subpar, for it to merit a midrange score, I don't get it. You describe a game that is a 4, and the patches move it to a 5, not anything more.

Can't go wrong with paying 20/30 for this game, it has it oh s..t moment and it has its wow moment still a good game.

Um, we started at 1.0, we're on 1.04..., that's 4 patches. Check the update history of the application on your console.

I haven't played the latest 2k patch yet, but I didn't find any of the previous ones to be all that noticeable from a gameplay perspective. I love their roster updates though, Live definitely needs to hire their own version of Mike Stauffer to keep accessories and ratings more dynamic throughout the season. I'm going to rent Live this weekend and see for myself how much they've improved since release.

This is NBA lives chance....they better keep patching and updating. Cause 2k patches are running this game. Bout to be a crossover after 11 years of loyalty.

The game has 4 patches! Version 1.01, 1.02, 1.03 & 1.04 was the latest. Not all patches come with patch notes.

I stand corrected. I haven't seen them even talked about on this forum. I check it pretty regularly. Which is unlike operation sports not to post patch news
