NBA Live 16 News Post



NBA Live 16 game update 1.04 is available now for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4, adding a new court for Live Run/Summer Circuit (see the trailer here), over 25 new player face scans, 48 new hairstyles, new tattoos, over 250 bug fixes and improvements and quite a bit more. As more information comes in, we will update this post.

With that said, let us know what you are seeing!

Gameplay Fixes:
  • Improved rebound input response time
  • Added more rebound animations to help with timing and coverage
  • Improved failed rebound animations
  • Made it easier to perform spin layups.
  • Reduced sliding and warping for inside shots and layups. Also improved animation selection.
  • Shot percentage tuning for mid range and 3 point shots
  • Added a greater fatigue affect for shooting.
  • Improved loose ball responsiveness for steals/rebounds and blocked shots
  • Sizing up on the perimeter for a longer duration will now trigger isolations
  • Improved transition play after turnovers
  • Fixed rare issues with double dribbles from post up and unders
  • Improved catch animation selection for players in transition
  • Improved help defense when scoring from the post
  • Improved on ball defense facing logic to help cut off dribble penetration
  • Fixed a rare case where players warp across the court after a change of possession
  • Fixed rare cases where players hands wouldn't connect with the rim properly
  • Fixed rare issues with ball warping when passing
  • Summer Circuit AI alley-oop pass logic improvements
  • Addressed rare miss catches in the post
  • Fixed issues where pump fakes would over-rotate the players facing
  • Fixed rare issue where players would not face the basket when performing a jump shot
General Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed Blocked Shot not counting for "Contest" objectives
  • Fixed gear display issues in Pro-Am lobby
  • Host now defaulted to “Start Game” in the Lobby of Pro-Am games
  • Fixed issue where Rising Star does not play the correct amount of minutes when the earned time is over thirty minutes
  • Fixed issue when viewing the post game wrap up in Ultimate Team, skipping through any point would occasionally cause a black background
  • Fixed issue where soaking in Pro AM Screens will occasionaly show online friends as offline
  • Improved detection of Contested Shots in the Paint
  • Fixed Brooklyn Nets road jersey not being in the correct tops menu when the user selects the PRO-AM outfits in the Gear Shop.
  • Inconsistent lighting for player avatar in summer circuit/live run lobbies adjusted
  • Added "Good Defense" event for stopping an inside shot via a collision
  • Improved stability if the fifth and fourth users leave a live run lobby just before the timer expires
  • Fixed Lobby host changes in persistent sessions
  • It is no longer possible to change your Play Style after becoming receiving the Superstar designation.
  • Fixed framerate drop when User B constrains the title in a H2H game.
  • Fixed occasional loud crowd cheer while playing in OKC
  • Enabled standing crowd animation stream(s) for ProAm Venues
  • Improved Pro-Am stability
  • Fixed Dynasty salary cap restrictions issue
  • Fixed issue where the rising star is told to guard someone else, but gets penalized when the original opponent that was guarded makes a shot in Rising Star mode
  • Fixed issue where Rising Star is not in the starting lineup when the Star becomes a 'STARTER' and enters a game in Rising Star mode
  • Tuned penalty for passing up shots
  • Pro-Am: Added link to Skills Progression from lobby
  • Improved Content Update stability
  • Fixed parts of the geo blocking the camera in Terminal 23
  • Fixed black texture where an exit sign should be in the Seattle Pacific University arena
  • Addressed Summer Circuit AI Alley Oop tuning
  • Fixed issue where the stanchion poles and clock do not turn invisible in SPU venue
  • Fixed issues with the Activity Feed
  • Fixed issue with blocks going back to offense too much
  • Fixed issue where help defense fails to react in time from a successful post move
  • Fixed standing crowd popping in game
  • Fixed issue when on an interception or steal the AI ball handler goes into a one off animation when they have an advantage
  • Fixed issue when playing a Summer Circuit game in Brooklyn Park with another User the Pre game NIS only showed 4 Players coming onto the court
  • Fixed intermittent periods of not seeing lobby avatar images in the Pro-Am lobby
  • Fixed “Make an Assisted Shot” not triggering when completing an alley oop, layup or dunk in Summer Circuit
  • Re-ordered the position slots in the lobby to be PG, SG, SF, PF, C
  • Implemented new generic facial animation
  • Fixed a soft lock that occurred when accepting an invite to a Summer Circuit lobby that is currently full
  • Fixed issue when an opponent select the quit and count option in an Ultimate Team H2H game

After playing a bit, game feels much tighter and flows better to me. I saw a lot of change in the gameplay, just felt better. For me that's great, cause I love the game. Call me crazy. 😃

while im gald they toned down the shooting in games. do you guys feel that its just right or too much? i couldnt pick up on this before since i was using teams that im not familiar with, but im seeing now more than ever. on LUT,

I CANT MAKE MY 3's with GOOD SHOOTERS.

I THINK IM LIKE 5 FOR 30 with heyward who has a 85 3pt shot. his shot starts at a 46%. my 90 rated 3pts have been okay. but people under 85 or under have been struggling. i like the changes this game has made, but i really hate missing good shots lol

Is there a workaround for the missing mid section glitch during the game?.....I figured it would just kind of go away after they subbed out or something....but he's still there lol

It's not just a missing midsection...

I get players who's jersey is being sucked into another dimension.




Other than that, this patch has helped quite a bit. Seems to have removed a bunch of dodgy animations, possibly implemented new ones (or at least added existing ones where they weren't previously), fixed a lot of other things that really help the game flow.

It was always a solid 8/10 gameplay wise but it's up to 8.5 for me. Hope there's still more to come.

Not sure if this was a thing in OH2H pre patch as I haven't played as much...

but guys seem to still be successful tip toeing the line under the basket w\o going out of bounds...then going up for a layup..

not as bad as previous Lives though

Two games post patch:

The good
- post game feels much better / animations have been cleaned up. Still very limited, but better.
- teams definitely play differently. I played The Grizz and The Warriors...GS were ahooing from everywhere. Curry plays exaclty like Curry. Grizz ground it out, went to the post, Conley played completely differently to Curry. Not sure if that is the patch or Synergy as I had not played for a long while.
-rebounding is much better
-much more pull up and shoot type mid range game

The bad
- still basically zero catch and shoot mid range plays...Korver around screens for 15 footers etc. Those plays seem to be only 3 pointers.
-CPU got caught in a back to the basket post move three times. Just stuck there until the clock wound down.
- Semi naked players glitch is annoying. Surely they patch it?
- Game still feels 60% complete. Just so many half hearted things. Coach Flip is still there as T Wolves coach in the coach menus, but not on the sidelines. Tons of things where it just feels like they didn't bother. They really need to just tidy all the incomplete parts up in one huge fix. So many generic players. Players with the wrong skin color, just a generic guy in for them.In 2015, there is no excuse for this.

They should make all the camera angles in the ESPN stadium specific view available for the user to choose.

just played a ultimate team quick game and notice rebounding and post play is fixed. my giants were eating good in the post. They nerfed shooters too much i think kyrie was missing wide open 3 pointers. funny thing was the one i hit was from about 36 feet. defense was on point. my guys were very active. happy with this patch. made a fun game better.

I'd be interested to try the game now that they've patched a lot of stuff, but at release the game was such a hot mess that I couldn't pull the trigger.

I don't expect them to patch the game up to the level of 2k, but the Pro Am mode was very appealing to me in the time leading up to the game's release, and I was very disappointed that the game was sooooooo bad that I couldn't at least enjoy that mode.

I hate to say this, but I've had a lot of success defensively by playing off ball D. It's the only way I can stop guys from sliding past me on offense. Been leading to much more contested shots and animations rather than dunks.

Defensively, It's all a lack of contact animations.
-They don't have layup animations with contact on the gathering steps, so even if you're in front of your man when the layup animation starts its like you're not there and you're only hope is that on the release a contact contest animation trigger which is rare.
-On passes even if you are in front of the receiver they just force you backwords as they catch in stride. Can be fixed with contact catches that turn the recover around to pivot and catch aswell as an actual interception/deflection system that works.
-Most dunks can't be changed from dunks into contact layups.
- you can't jostle guys on inbounds or in full court press.
- charges aren't called when guys bulldoze into the lane, nor is the ball lost sometimes. You can continually push the defenders back then shoot a layup. Those animations need to be removed to balance it.
- Help defense is iffy too but from playing the game a lot these are the biggest problems with defense
