NBA 2K16 News Post

The NBA 2K16 MyTEAM Team have sent us this developer blog featuring, what else... MyTEAM. The team talks about team creation, the Gauntlet, Domination, Cards and much more.

Quote:
“Be Different.” That has been our theme, focus, and inspiration for MyTEAM in 2K16. After listening to the community feedback from 2K15 we noticed an important element missing which was a sense of individuality. Since the creation of MyTEAM in 2013, we have struggled with our long list of features having to pick and choose what would make the biggest impact. Branding and creating an identity has always been on that list and it was finally time to start working on it.

Anyone know if Myteam has a point system in team building similar to the heroclix game(Ex: 2500 points to spend Lebron= 800, Curry = 750, etc)? This way it's not just a bunch of teams with 10 out of 12 players rated 85+. I hope this option exists in competetive play.

I tried My Team and I couldn't get past the initial round. Something about players not matching or wrong cards. It was probably something really simple that I didn't understand. The idea of playing with a bunch of scrubs as a team and set goal sounds fun though....
SAME. It was such a turn off for the mode.

I think that the 2 new classic teams are 04' Wolves and 07' Cavs

If there was some type of attribute hit like there is in MUT I think it would create more diversity in lineups rather than 5 über athletics bigs on the court. Maybe that had more to do with the zig zag and three point cheese than lack of restrictions though.
But with the new defensive matchup system your best defender should guard lebron no matter what position he plays. Why not play with 5 guys on the court who cause problems on defense isnt that what team sports are about finding weaknesses in your opponent and exploiting them. There is no attribute hit in mut either just an ovr change sometimes it goes up or down depending on how the players stats correspond to the position u moved them to,there is no need for attributes going down either why waste the time rating everyone correctly if you move them out of postion and their stats go down.

Only thing that worries me is, there seems to be a lack of things to do offline in myteam. I dont like playing on their laggy servers, so offline content suits me. It seems like i would only have the 66 domination games to play.

Your best defender can match up with LeBron but who is your PG going to guard? Ppl run lineups like LBJ, MJ, Melo, KD, & Shaq. Cards should be restricted to their primary & secondary positions.
Defense has been upgraded for 2k16 but it really won't matter much if online games are still played on low difficulty settings.

In order here are all 12 new classic teams:

1. 1999-2000 Toronto Raptors
2. 1999-2000 Portland Trail Blazers
3. 2000-2001 Los Angeles Lakers
4. 2002-2003 Dallas Mavericks
5. 2003-2004 Detroit Pistons
6. 2003-2004 Minnesota Timberwolves
7. 2004-2005 Phoenix Suns
8. 2005-2006 Miami Heat
9. 2007-2008 Boston Celtics
10. 2007-2008 Houston Rockets
11. 2008-2009 Cleveland Cavaliers?
12. 2012-2013 Miami Heat

If they took out 12-13 Heat and added 2002 Nets then I wouldn't have a problem with any of these teams. I'm excited to play with every single one of them, especially the '05 Suns, '04 Timberwolves, and '03 Mavericks.

Yeah exactly, some kind of restriction was really necessary since you'd see 4 SF + C/3 SF + 2C lineups more often than any traditional lineup.

Cavs 07 IMO. I think they'll add other teams in future 2k, but i agree instead of the 13 Heat should be the Nets 02 Kings 02 or Spurs 05.

The gauntlet sounds amazing. That's really going to be interesting.

My only worry so far is the shoe cards. I hate boost cards in ultimate team modes. They are extremely cheesy in my opinion and very abusable. Especially in a game like this, where the players already have high stats to start off with.

I don't want to play rich people who have a Curry card that they've given a card that maxes out their three point rating and other shooting stats for multiple games.

Does anybody know if 2k has said what the myteam online difficulty will be?

# 72 tt500 @ 09/10/15 08:50 AM
Well the first round of the gauntlet is all star. Hopefully that doesn't make myteam the same experience like 2k15, everyone you play online takes way too many 3s.

Loving the new additions, but there's still one huge problem, which is the abuse of the CE on PC, people will rush through the domination mode in 2hrs and have already the sickest lineup on day one. I hope 2K has a fix for this, I'll watch this carefully on the first day and consider a refund.

It varies, domination was on Pro, RTTP started out on rookie and ended on SS, they were a couple of challenges on HOF, a few on SS, most were on Pro or All Star.

Play with Friends was on Pro. Which is ridiculous not to have custom settings for Play With Friends.

Overall MyTeam difficulty settings are causal friendly.

The difficulty is really a problem with online modes. The percentages of shots being made should be the same across all difficulties. I think the only difference difficulties should be how smart the cpu ai is.

Difficulty between two players should always be dependent on the skills of the user instead of allowing people to make easy 3s in 2k15 because of the difficulty.

You collect cards buy buying them with earned points, drawing them from packs, or earning them by beating challenges. You can use the cards you have to create your team, though you are often restricted as to which cards you are allowed to use.

Any news about accumulated stats for this mode?

I will say it AGAIN...

Position restrictions are not needed.

Why, oh, why would 2K put positional restrictions in MyTeam at a time when like 2/3 of the NBA is starting to play 'position-less' basketball? When teams like the Pacers and Raptors are talking about playing guys like Paul George and Demarre Carroll at PF...

You fix those problems by fixing GAMEPLAY. And looking at all the gameplay adjustments they've made, especially on defense, I think we'll see a lot less cheese.

I love the customization options...long overdue and now give users a sense of 'ownership" of their MyTeam.

I like the addition of Dynamic cards...but part of me feels like all the cards should be dynamic. But...on the bright side, it does sort of provide a built-in 'throwback' version of each player based on his performance last season.

Looks like they've taken the 'Moment' idea from Madden...I'm not gonna lie, not a fan of this. All it does is create overpowered cards of certain players after they have a couple good games.

Example - JR Smith has a game where he gets hot and makes 10 3's...a day or two later, there is a JR Smith 'Moment' card with a 95 rating in 3PT. Result - instant cheese.

Hopefully the comment on 'free agents' means we will have access to players who are in the free agent pool. I know it's not likely to be incredibly popular...but why not also give us access to the EuroLeague players?

As others mentioned, I'd be interested in hearing if RTTP has changed...or if there are ways to choose the 'level' or roster restriction you play at. Sort of like Challenges but against other real players, not the CPU.

Or at least have the option to go back and play at a lower level of RTTP if you want. Sorry, but sometimes I actually enjoy playing with more realistic teams and NOT teams with 12 All Stars.

I've always started playing my team around the all-star break and so I am always behind in the MT game.

These changes have me hyped enough to start my team on day 1. Unlike the old games there will be so much more to do once the domination and challenges are finished.

Is there any way we can edit the halfcourt line that is going through the team logos?
