NBA 2K16 Adds '00-'01 Lakers & '03-'04 Pistons to the List of Classic Teams

2K Sports has added the '00-'01 Los Angeles Lakers (previously revealed) & '03-'04 Detroit Pistons to the list of classic teams in NBA 2K16.

There will be 12 new classic teams added this year, 7 of them have now been confirmed.

Here is the list of confirmed classic teams so far:

'03-'04 Detroit Pistons
'07-'08 Houston Rockets
'99-'00 Toronto Raptors
'07-08 Boston Celtics
'00-'01 Los Angeles Lakers
'02-'03 Dallas Mavericks
'99-'00 Portland Trail Blazers

Two more teams will be revealed next Thursday.

I'm sorry. I must be the only one not excited for this team. Not saying they weren't a great team. They were, I am just not excited about them. I would rather see other teams before them. I can see why some people like them, but I don't know why everyone is acting like they are the holy grail of retro teams.

I am more excited for the houston team. I am even more excited for the raps. just dont care for the piston team. hmmm. I thought the dallas team was okay as well, but not overly excited about them either. I would like to have the kings with White chocolate. Maybe suns with nash and amare...suns would be nice with bark and marley, and pacers with reggie, but I doubt that will happen.But I got tmac and yao back, so everything else is just extra at this point for me.

Before 2K Sports making any extra classic teams, I hope they make it right on the roster... Bulls with no Randy Brown, Jason Caffey?... Lakers show with no Jabbar? 76ers with no ...well you know.. The age is wrong as well.

I'm mostly excited to be able to play as Ben and Sheed in MyTeam. Gonna love swatting them shots and collecting them rebounds Lol. Would be great if when Sheed fouls someone and they miss a free throw we hear "BALL DONT LIE!" and have the Gong for when Big Ben blocks a shot or scores.

Just responding to the guy who was making guesses that they're matching teams up by the season. I don't think that's what they're doing though it's probably just coincidence. There's other teams that would make it before those Bucks and Kings teams. Even though I'd love to see Jason Williams era Kings.

All shaping up to be a good selection, despite the fact I'm more of an 80's/90's man myself, but still am looking forward to the new additions, especially T-mac and Carter!!

That said, (Yeah, I'm gonna be that guy) It'll REALLY take away from the immersion again if they haven't fixed the cyberface authenticity (if PC modders can do it, 2k can do it, there should be no excuse) and the god awful uniforms (Skin tight, and terrible logo/number placement)

We all know they can't scan the legends faces, but the below picture should illustrate what can be achieved without that technology. There shouldn't be an excuse in my eyes.

While I agree since they have way better tools and resources, you have to remember they have time constraints. I thought about this myself and a modder can take as much time as needed to get a face "just right" while a game artist would need to pump out a number of faces/art files in a certain time limit. That takes away from quality.

The word 'easy' regarding these things is thrown around way too much IMO

I do agree though, I was saying this yesterday....I hope the likenesses are at least close..

Like will we get the MYTEAM versions of T-Mac and Yao? Or will they be redone?

The only Pacers team that might have a chance is either the 03-04 or 04-05 teams. At least Miller was in the twilight of his career, and 2K Sports can use a generic 3PT specialist.

Of course, it's not a true Pacers classic team without Miller. Period.

The 04 Lakers better not be in for so many reasons:

Already plenty of great Lakers teams.
Already have multiple Prime Shaqs and prime Kobe, Payton, and Malone as well.
That team just wasn't that great. Should not have made the finals.

I really hope they give us the 99-00 Knicks squad, just so we can get Sprewell/Houston/LJ & Prime Camby.
