NBA 2K16 News Post

The early rumor of Spike Lee possibly working with 2K Sports and NBA 2K16 seems to be very real. According to Owen Good of Polygon, Spike Lee will have a role developing the career mode in the game.

Based off of some sources and leaked media, Golden St. Warriors Steph Curry, Houston Rockets James Harden and Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant have been chosen as the cover athletes of the game and will be promoting The new Spike Lee joint "Be the Story" on social media channels.

Last year Kevin Durant was announced as the cover athlete of NBA 2K15 on May 6th, so we could hear something more official in the coming weeks.

If the opening screen doesn't have "Fight the Power" playing in the background, I'll be pissed. On top of that, in MyPlayer mode, there better be a player throwing a trash can through a window while yelling "HATE!", followed by a bunch of people burning a building down. Otherwise, this isn't a Spike Lee joint. It's just a video game with Spike Lee's name on it.

As a true hoops fan having played my entire life on many levels (HS, college, and Pro) and a die hard MC player for years. Im thrilled to hear Spike is involved with 2k in developement. This could mean a deeper more realistic approach is being taken when it comes to the stories in MC... I cant wait! I've given up on thinking so much about the actual story line now I just want depth and excitement. Spike is the right man for the gig!

Completely off topic and just out of pure curiosity but where did you play pro ball?

Tell me why KD's on another cover after not even really playing this season? And LeBron isn't on a second one? I'm good with Curry and Harden though

this is a cool idea. i don't play MyCareer, but it sounds like a good way to make that mode even more engaging. i'm not one of those people who thinks 2k "wastes" too much time on career modes or that 2k is somehow ignoring gameplay to focus on story modes. i think they can work on both. 2k15's gameplay was spectacular, so that shows they are still very committed to always tweaking and improving the gameplay.

A story's fine, if it actually felt authentic and well directed, and actually made sense in terms NBA realism and was somewhat nuanced. I think it would be totally possible to attract casuals AND basketball/NBA nerds with something like this.

I mean isn't that what every decent basketball movie does?
