NBA 2K15 News Post

NBA 2K15 patch #4, which arrived on March 12th for PlayStation 4 users, is available now for Xbox One users. It weighs in at 2.5 GB.

The patch primarily addresses the shoe issues in the game, more specifically in MyCAREER mode. You can see the workaround here. Once the patch notes are finally released, we will update this post.

Let us know what you are seeing.

UPDATE: The patch notes have been released.
  • Addressed an issue where purchased, created shoes in the MyPLAYER Store would revert to the unpurchased state upon leaving the menu.
  • Upon signing an endorsement deal with a shoe company in MyCAREER, shoes from that brand will once again be wearable by your MyPLAYER.
  • (XB1) Online games will no longer disconnect during gameplay when one or more users had minimized the title and returned while sitting on the Team Select screen prior to playing.
  • Made a number of improvements to the player progression/regression systems that drive player ratings in MyGM/MyLEAGUE/MyCAREER.
  • Fixed a rare case where the user team would trade for the upcoming pick mid-draft (MyGM/MyLEAGUE), but the team that traded away the pick would retain the rights to the player.
  • Fixed an issue where some users were unable to access specific Online Leagues.
  • Removed “auto-hesitation” dribble animations that played when driving near defenders. Smoothed out the sprint to jog transition in the back court.
  • Tuned shot percentages for a more obvious distinction between open and covered shots. Slight increase to contact dunk frequency for high level dunkers.
  • Corrected an issue in MyTEAM where improved player badges were not appearing in the correct color when viewing a head-to-head game. The correct badge level with appropriate gameplay adjustments are now being made.
  • The ‘Bruiser’ and ‘Hardened’ badges will now unlock properly in MyCAREER when the appropriate conditions are met.
  • Fixed a rare case where some users would occasionally see the title hang during the series of legal screens at the start of the game.
  • (XB1) Corrected an issue where Park Chat through the My NBA 2K15 app would not work for some users.
  • (XB1) Fixed an issue where a user’s gamertag would not update in the Roster Creator interface when the gamertag was changed outside of the title.

NOTE: All patch fixes will work in your existing game mode saves.

If you are a playbook user and run a lot plays that get you open shots your FG% should go up just based off the open bonus that should never have been applied without looking at how actual players shoot when contested vs. being open. Some players shoot just as good when contested as they do when open so they didn't need a bonus, some shoot very well when open and then drop off the map when contested, some can't shoot whether open or contested. Some shoot slightly better when contested than open but it happens.

Then you add the ability to hit green perfects to that and the game can get arcadey real quick.

Offline your options are to go to real FG% and tweak sliders and hope 2K patches in something to fix 100% green success and open bonus.

Online there is no real solution but to contest every single shot but there will be open looks regardless and the %'s will look crazy I see no way around it add in some sig skills and badges and I definitely can see it getting out of hand.

All the offense upgrades to shooting and green releases yet defense didn't get touched? Still ice sliding

If this is truly the case, the latest changes will have left the game in a broken state with more than six months left in the product cycle, which I do have to deem entirely unacceptable.
The part I highlighted in bold is what I hope they realize. Players get open on hard contest, escape dribble pump fakes etc. they just don't make the shots because they are open. Mike took that complaint in the shot meter thread and just ran with it and gave too many players an open bonus they did not need or deserve. If they can't properly rate the open success by using stats they should have left it alone or looked at the league wide average for being open. It is really low if you look at the whole NBA and was close to how it was in the previous patch.

2K15 if possible add a rating for being open and being contested on jumpers. User stick shooting should be limited to a maximum rating at perfect release not 100% success.

I finding that only using LT, light feathering of the RS, and not smothering the player to be pretty successful for me. They don't slide around as much. I use the fast shuffle only when they're driving to the basket. I've been mostly impressed with the defense. Plus, it helps that every dribble drive and/or late shot attempts doesn't result in a foul.

I've been keeping up with the higher FG% by playing solid defense and limiting my turnovers.

This was upsetting to me as well. Just a very minor boost would have made me happy. Or even no boost but work on the sliding.

I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but the shooting isn't killing the game for me. I wish the bump wasn't so steep, but I think an adjustment was needed. I play fairly solid D when I'm not skating around. I love that contested shots are being missed at a lot greater rate. So while the balance isn't perfect, I do like playing the game post patch.

I'm surprised to see that there's no mention of alley-oops in the patch notes. They are both easier to defend and more likely to miss even wide open. I just missed a wide open oop from LeBron (gold lob city passer) to Shaq (gold lob city finisher, 99 dunk) with LBJ being at the freethrow line and Shaq under the basket. No defender was inside the 3 point line as he was crashing the boards late in the game. Just remembered this while watching Smoove missing a pretty open oop from Big O to MJ in his new video. This one was slightly contested, but you'd still expect a 99 passer with the gold lob city passer badge to get this oop to the GOAT.

Alley-oops were definitely overpowered pre-patch 4, but they seem somewhat underpowered to me right now.

The Patch notes don't seem to cover all the fixes. Almost like it's an abbreviated list. I didn't see any mention to MyPark Rep and clearly something has changed. I, along with countless others, were stuck in the middle of our Reps. I've noticed post patch this was corrected. Wasn't there a shoe fix work around as well?

I hate to play against the Clippers because CP3 keep on throwing up the ******** stupid ally-opps that result in TO over and over again. CP3 had 5 TO just of the stupid ally-opps that he just throw up and my cpu swap it away. this is so unrealistic and look ******** as CP3 will never do such thing in real life, smfh.....

It has essentially made our fears that the entire simulation game can be glitched past with decent timing a reality.

In addition, the boost of open midrange shots being 60 for an average decent shooter seems entirely too high and out of alignment with NBA stats historically. Not even Curry has been hitting 60 wide open from midrange this season, and he's much better than a "decent" midrange shooter.

My original plan was to not install the patch since the 2K15 with patch 3 played a very solid game. Unfortunately, the game loses all online connectivity without the patch, and refuses to play without it if an online connection exists.

So as it stands, there are few viable resolutions. Slider settings don't work properly if the ease of green releases effectively bypass them. Not installing the patch makes the game offline only and breaks all online modes, updates, and features.

Wanting a patch 5 is wishful thinking. I thought we were all lucky to get a patch 4, but instead we got a patch that broke the game.

I think they also fixed the backcourt violations too where you get called for one because your ballhandler dribbled backwards.

I have stopped plays, because I thought I was going to get called for one.

But it did seem for a while (around the time the patch hit PS4) that the park felt different, missing shots we normally hit, playing good defense aka ''good shot defense'' and still having two's drained in our faces.

I played roughly 2 1/2-3 hours last night, and the balance seemed to have returned, we worked the ball around and the majority of our open shots 1's/2's dropped, if we took contested shots we usually missed, and the same for our opponents.

It even seemed like a semblance of defense had returned, strips, the ability to tip alley-oop passes (which had been very hard to come by lately), the ability to block dunks to a respectable degree, as well as layups seemed to go in at a more natural clip.

It was one sitting, probably 15-20 games or so, but I was as excited to get back on 2K as I've been in a while.
Definitely this. I'm rated 80 and I saw no difference in a mycareer game.

LOL played 2 rec game and a 3 park games and oh my...the amount of threes that was thrown up and hitting in people faces were crazy my friend hit 7 threes from the same area it didnt matter if someone was in his face or not.
I have seen many more 3s being made after this patch than before.

It's normally an auto DL. Are you disc based or did you DL the game? You can try and eject the game and reinsert it. It should just boot straight into the update. It will tell you a 2.5gb update is needed.

That's weird, I've found 'almost' the exact opposite to be true. I've seen several players making open threes, even with a couple feet of space. But when we've been contesting with hands in their face I've seen only a few fall.

The 'almost' comes in the last game I played. We had a teammate that would wait for someone to contest his shot, move a foot or 2 over and make it. Close enough that I'd say it was good D.

I've seen a lot of people complaining about the patch. Saying the shooting is to easy, and the defense sucks. But I've played 10 games online and I've won all 10 of em. B4 the patch people would just play the 2-3 zone and clog the paint and it was a struggle to make a open shot, now I'm punishing the people who play zone all game instead of playin man defense. And no I didn't make every shot, I missed some open shots too but now I'm not afraid of taking those open shots because i know it has a way better chance of going in. And the defense is way better. Yes there's still those times when my opponent would zig zag to try to get an open 3 or turbo down the baseline and get to the hoop untouched but now my players react faster and move a whole lot smoother. I think they did a good job with this patch. Hopefully this is the last one. I just don't understand why they couldn't have the game like this from the beginning

I concur. It really seems to depend on the game mode. It's good for online/MT but bad for offline/Park.

If they patched alley oops, that would be a great fix. They are too overpowered.

Either the gameplay speed increased or the speed of players. Either way, hardly anyone is a big fan of this patch.
