MLB 15 The Show News Post

If there has been a theme to the recent MLB 15: The Show live streams, it's that the development team is focused on the details. From skin tones to lighting, the new additions reinforce the idea that The Show is a series which gets a lot of the "little things" right.

There's a dual danger to this approach though, albeit one mitigated by Sony San Diego's commitment to a deep and transparent marketing strategy: casual users may miss these minute improvements, while long time fans can find plenty of details that are still missing.

Speaking of details in the show, one of the feature changes I am looking forward to is the improved sun positions based on time of year and geographic locations. While this has nothing to do with game play, it is a detail of the game I look forward to. But was there any changes regarding temperatures in the game? I always thought it was weird when on a game that begins at 7 pm even in the middle of July or August the fans in the stadiums would be wearing their winter coats and ear muffs, the players would be sporting long sleeves but no matter how warm or cold it was the umpires always be wearing short sleeves (those umps are tough compared to everyone else).

MLB The Show seems to portray a "Global Cooling" agenda rather than the other alternative.

I was amazed at the detail between both the show 14 and 15. I've been switching back and forth or doing side by side comparisons and you can see it from shadows, lights, colors, clouds, minor or big changes to the cosmetic touches to certain stadiums.

Another thing I noticed is by the 2nd inning the dirt gets kicked all over around home plate. Something that last years game didn't have.

If someone can chime in.... maybe it's just me seeing things. But I think I seen some players that had wore sunglasses while the sun was out earlier in one of the steamed games. Had taken them off when there was an overcast or when the sun had went down.

Is there any other talking points I'm missing?

Add on commentary, issues with jerseys, player models and other general presentation and that should do it haha.

"in the details" ... a bit presumptuous to say, considering the game is missing some very basic features on the backend (non-negotiable features in my humble opinion), that being a multitude of statistics depth as mentioned on posts for every years iteration. This article should be qualified as a strictly graphic presentation aspect, which I am about tired of seeing to be honest. Seriously, licensed equipment is about money not authenticity or detail. Get the stats right if you want to reach the true baseball fans.

As an MLB the Show lifer the details are fine and have shown great improvement year to year. What an avid baseball fan like me appreciates the most is STATS. Just give me more stats man. That's all I want. Tired of the empty promises..and now the ultimate promise that that is the first agenda for next years game? It should not have taken this long to take care of baseballs most important aspect. IMO more articles need to be devoted to the emptiness of the games stats than it's details which are already top notch.

Just to be clear....you guys are talking STORED stats from year to year.
Because there are plenty of stats tracked for the current season.

While I agree on stored year to year stats(heck...I'll take an option to simply dump stats to text and store them on the HDD)......the stats in the game is plenty.
(I know you guys want WAR)

Nail hit square on the head. They have every statistic I personally need in-season. It is the historical stat tracking that is priority #1 as they have said numerous times for MLB 16.

This retractable roof garbage talk has to go! Who gives a damn about an open or closed roof... I like the game of BASEBALL which I believe is what this game is all about. Not colors of seats, not complaining about bleachers not being in the game, empty camera wells. So much whining I've seen and it's beginning to just be background words to me. Secondly, people who say nasty things to this dev team shouldn't even deserve to have this type of stuff in the game. Put them all in timeout and have them learn respect and then maybe they will get their cookie.

They don't get any money out of the licensed equipment. Quite the opposite actually. Also are you saying that ppl who play the show aren't "true baseball fans"

Whoa, whoa, whoa... This isn't a game about a scrappy group of teens putting on play to raise money for their downtrodden community? Why call it "The Show" then?!

PREORDER CANCELLED.

Yes Knight, of course... although would help having complete player cards and just generally better access/path finding to stats. I have pointed to the fact that stats should be available, everywhere including lineup screens, in game, player cards and more places I can't think of now... Like Baseball almanac online level... Like u said, use the HDD, what else do we have it for...

You probably know......but on the lineup screen....hitting triangle on a player will give you a stat screen and advanced stats.

But yes.....anything they can add to tracking historically and accessing will be much welcome.

Yea, but hitting triangle on each guy takes too long and by the time I am on the 7th guy, I can't remember what the 2nd guy is hitting, so the whole comparison thing doesn't flow well... I know my short term memory stinks... If I could see them all at once, I could move guys around a bit if I wanted, although I am not a big proponent of micromanaging many batting order changes, it's more of that ... I am moving this guy down in the order and see how he does down here, or look at this guys OBP, I should consider him at the top of the order... etc... I think it's small stuff really (not the historical stats carryover, though, that is a must).
