WWE 2K15 News Post

With WWE 2K15 having kind of a strange release schedule, a lot of users have been waiting to see whether the new consoles make this year's entry worthy of the upgrade. After spending some time with the Xbox One version, it's safe to say that 2K's influence on this year's product is obvious. From some of the subtle animations changes and presentational flair, everything has received a boost in some way.

Then again, from what I've seen, there are clearly areas where corners have been cut to ship a product on time, such as missing modes, a smaller roster and a diminished creation suite. We're not talking NHL 15 levels of feature and mode omission here, but there are some items missing, so make sure you go in with your eyes open. Some users are quite upset at only 25 create-a-wrestler spots, for instance, compared to 100 on previous generation hardware.

Here are some of my quick impressions... (Make sure you share yours)

I have heard a lot of match types have been stripped from quick play. Is this true. I need my 2 on 2 ladder match.

I love the graphics and gameplay. Yes there is stuff missing but the in ring action will make up for it. Ultimate Warrior looks incredible.

I've played the game about 2 hours this morning and have to say this :

I only rented WWE 2k14 due to the proximity of the release of the Xbox One, so it's hard for me to compare too much here.

The graphics are great for being the first wrestling game on the new consoles, I look forward to future installments of the series.

Wrestling feels great here, the weight of the superstars, the fatigue, and all the animations that go with that make this game feel awesome.

I played a match with Sting vs Fandango last night as a warm up match on Legend mode and near the end of the match I had fatigued and went to climb the top ropes and it looked so realistic, from the climb through the ropes being slow to the climb all the way to the top turnbuckle.

I really enjoyed what I got to play and will be leaving work shortly to go back and play some more of the game.

My negatives to this game are:
- the roster being so small to me compared to 2k14 (I personally like having tons of legends and past superstars and current superstars) but I can look past the roster here and enjoy the game with what current superstars are here.

- The lack of match types and customization being gone (This is my biggest gripe of this game, but again it's the first WWE game on the new consoles, so I will again look past it for this year.)

Final thought from my few hours of gaming - 7.3/10

I think this game might have the best gameplay in the entire series. I know it sucks with all the missing features and match types but as long as the gameplay is great they can keep adding to the game every year.

Yes I am all about graphics and game play and this game totally knocks my socks off. It just plays so well it has to be seen to be believed. I look forward to having some incredible matches with this one.

Where are you guys putting in your codes for Sting and the Season pass? I go to the Playstation store button in the game and all I get is a blank blue screen. Can't find anywhere else to put in codes.

I can't really give a full review of the game because I only played one match since I work early this morning. I'm really digging the graphics. I played a six-man elimination tag match to check out a few entrances. I like the gameplay so far. The controls, to me, felt a little stiff and sometimes a little laggy, but that could be because it was just me trying to play a game at 3AM heh. I'm hoping this was only a one-time thing since I haven't seen anyone else complain about the issue I had, but my game actually froze on me toward the end of the match I played.

I read on the IGN review that PS4 can only have 4 wrestlers in the ring at once, is this true for the PS4 owners?

Yes and it's way better than last year. Now, you actually have access (as you unlock them) to a list of the different storylines that can play out. If you decide to create your own rivalries, you can select which storyline you'd like to attach to it.

There is even a section for "Special Stories". The only one I've unlocked there was a "What if? - Cena versus Undertaker" story. Looking forward to trying that one out.

OP's review mentioned some matches feeling like squashes -- can we still dictate length of match I.E. normal/epic/quick?

It said only 4 humans I think.

Are ex-superstar entrances and movesets still in the game? (Angle, Hardys, Taz, etc..)

I only played a couple of universe matches this morning, but man... this gameplay is excellent. The superstars finally feel like they have weight to them. Normal strikes feel much more impactful than they ever did before. The stamina completely changes the end game. In previous years, even at the end of the match, you had two guys darting around the ring like Sonic the Hedgehog, trying to be the first to get that running grapple. Now, you've got to account for the fact that even if you're winning, it's going to take you a while to get to your feet. I love it.

The new tile-based menus are also excellent. The interface has taken a huge step up.

The fact that you can assign storylines to your universe rivalries is sick. I also noticed that if you let the CPU generate the rivalries, they also choose storylines. I know some people were worried they would be generic, but they're not!

The lacking match modes are a bummer, but they are the easiest part to add back if 2K wants to patch them in.

Yes. I think they call it short, normal, and long.

Incorrect. The first match I played was elimination chamber. Six wreslters in the ring along with structure of the chamber on screen at once. I did think action got a little sluggish, nothing major, but six people at once is certainly possible.

I have to be that guy but the foot planting is very bad. I get that this isn't supposed to be an all out simulation but at times players are sliding & warping all over the ring like they're on ice skates. 2K needs to adapt some type of true step technology for all their sports games because foot planting continues to be a sore spot for them.
