MLB 14 The Show News Post

MLB 15 The Show is surely well on its way to being delivered to gamers next Spring, but that doesn’t mean we can’t add our own input on what we’d like to see in next year’s game.

In many cases, MLB 14 The Show was a pretty well executed game with a few notable flaws that held it back from true greatness. The shortlist of fixes for next year seem obvious, but there are also several gameplay issues we would love to see tidied up before next spring.

Here’s what we’d like to see fixed heading into next year:
  1. Online Play - Because this just has to work next year doesn’t it? This year was closer than ever, but it still wasn’t a great experience by any means.
  2. Commentary - The current commentary team isn’t bad, just stale — and their lines are repeating a bit too often for our tastes. Replacing the current guys is one option, having them add a lot more lines is another one.
  3. Better Management In Franchise Mode - The franchise mode is great, but there are a few items missing I really wish were there. Depth charts is one, but also better feedback on what you are doing as you do it. The experience is fine if you are a baseball savvy guy, but if you don’t know much about how the roster rules work in baseball you will almost certainly be lost guaranteed.
  4. More accuracy in stadiums, jerseys, etc. - The Show on PS3 was always above and beyond on the little things. Nowadays, it seems to be right with the rest of the pack on many of those little things, so another leap in attention to detail would be amazing.
  5. All of those gameplay enhancements - You can list what you’d love to see in the comments. Things like even more fielding animations, more hit variety, etc. These are all no brainers and should be in each new game, but it doesn’t hurt to demand it.
  6. Bonus: Create-A-Stadium. Seriously, I’m a ballpark junkie and I know I’m not the only one. Giving users the ability to create custom stadiums, especially with enough options to recreate many past great ballparks (or build a new ballpark for your franchise) would be an amazing addition we’ve not really ever seen in a baseball game.
What do you want to see in MLB 15 The Show?

Problem, with that is people complain and don't want to put in the extra work to do that. But, I agree with you. There is a reason for 30 team control and if people choose not to use it that is their own problem.

Franchise mode:

Spring Training needs to mean more. i.e Position battles, work outs to improve stamina/durability, if I play game 1 of the spring with my ace on the mound and I make him pitch 9 innings throwing 130 pitches, he should have a higher chance of injury over when I gradually increase his workload as the spring goes on.

Simming: Set innings limits/innings aloud to pitch in for bullpen pitchers while simming. An MLB season is 162 games, I don't have that kind of time to play games individually. To many times I'll start up a franchise game and my entire bullpen is burnt because the CPU uses so many relievers for no reason. Why does my closer have to pitch an out in the 8th and pitch the 9th when I'm winning by 6 runs?

Contracts: No-trade, bonuses, back loading $$$, player morale/interest. They need to be more in-depth.

Stat tracking: I would like to see more than the last 3 years or whatever it is, especially the PS4. Use the power given to you.

Older players ratings going down: I understand there should be a drop off at about the age of 35 but if I have a 93 overall player, it's pretty frustrating to see them at a 68 at age 36... They should have it so things like durability, speed, and fielding go down but they can still provide offence from say the DH position.

RTTS:

Drafting: I was a CF and I was drafted by the Angels, why?

Position Changes: ^^^ If I am picked by the Angels, ask me to move to RF or something like that, move Trout to RF. Make it work please.

Free agency: If I'm the best SS in the game, I would expect a huge bidding war for when I hit the Market.

Miscellaneous/In game:

-Blue Jays blue needs to be darkened a bit

-Maybe players in franchise mode could change their look a bit? Say I have Jose Bautista, who will occasionally shave his beard. Something like that would be kinda cool

-Ability to wear shin guard/elbow pad on just one side. i.e Jose Reyes hurt his left ankle in 2013, since he returned he has worn his shin guard on just his left ankle while hitting.

These are all great ideas that really should have been implemented a long time ago

Crowd Noise: especially in the playoffs, I want the crowd to erupt on deep fly balls, before they know if it's gone or not. It seems really dumb that the stadium is dead silent until the ball has gotten out. People lose their minds when the ball is hit hard, regardless if it ends up being a solid base hit, a homer, or just a fly out.

Drafted players gear/looks: I'm tired of seeing drafted guys wearing stirrups and having a Curly mustache with stupid chops for sideburns. Stop making that the default on half the guys you draft.

Give us a list of players that are eligible for the rule 5 draft, that way we know who to protect on the 40 man. Same could be done for a list of arbitration players. I know this is easy to avoid, but I've lost some pretty good players offering them generous arbitration + couple years of FA contracts assuming they will accept, then they don't. While I'm busy doing other things I forget to offer ARB and see them on another team at the start of next year.

Quick counts: love the feature and it's all I use, but when playing the CPU, and your pitcher comes up in a bunting situation, you should have the option to start at a 0-0 count. I hate when I let my pitchers hit wanting to bunt so I can keep them pitching, just to walk out to an 0-2 count.

For me, my biggest thing is franchise mode. But, altogether, here are the things I would like to see:
  • An owner mode: Biggest would be the ability to move to a new stadium (even if there are just like 4 pre-designed stadiums to choose from like Madden). Would love to get the A's and Rays out of their stadiums. This could be expanded later to include relocating to pre-chosen cities. But second is to bring back the other items, such as changing field pattern, advertising, pricing, etc. I also liked being able to add additions to the stadium to upgrade it, and it would be even better if there was a way to see them (such as seeing the extra seating that was added to LF). It would also be cool to see owner contracts so you could take over another team later on.
  • Closed stadiums: I don't even care to see it close, I'm perfectly fine with just two models with one being open and the other closed (like Madden). I also don't care to see double-headers or anything like that. If you're gonna do rain-outs, just make it happen after the point in which it's official so you don't have to worry about replaying it and the logic that goes into that.
  • Contract and Trading: in-season extensions, more players being part of trades instead of the 3 slots allowed per team (to get a heavy prospect return packages), and then non-roster invites to ST. A trade finder would also be cool. Also better trade logic, like that of the online franchise.
  • Player and fan emotions as a whole. I like the see a crowd that is engaged and knows the situations, especially in big ones.
  • I'd like to see the player models be redone. The faces look nice now with the facial hair, but the bodies need an upgrade too
  • For Online Franchise, the ability to edit appearance (gear and numbers)
  • I would love to see the fly-over aspect expanded on. I love aerial shots of stadiums, so that would be cool to see. Not a priority though, and probably a couple of years off.

I will say that from the first fact sheet, I'm really excited to see the new IK system and to see what they were able to do with it. I'm also excited to hear more about the Radio Show and the new commentary. And then of course, getting name-brand gear is really cool.

In another thread there was a conversation about stadium relocation, and we came to the conclusion that we will not be seeing it. This going off a like on a post by Ramone, who works for SCEA. And it seems to be that way because the MLB wants to keep their brand intact.

Yeah, and I understand the whole idea with re-locating and why the MLB might be against it. I'm not worried about that. Personally, I play with the Mariners, so it's not really an issue for me, just would be cool to see both clubs get the new stadiums they deserve. I'd be okay with just a couple of stadiums that are pre-built to move to. It's just an idea, I fully trust those developers and the team at SCEA. The Show has by far been my favorite game each year, and I will buy it regardless without question because of that. And, Ramone is awesome.

ok early to the dance i know but i cant stop thinking about this stuff... for 16 hopefully

2016 wish list

1. Left handed umpires

2. Post season logos on caps

3. World Series logos on caps

4. indiv battter vs pitcher stats

5. indiv pitcher vs batter stats

6. Batter stats day vs night games

7. kids shagging fly balls during home run derby in all star break

8. pitcher stats day vs night games

9. if your team wins thei division, league, world series having the flag or whatever revealed on teams first home opner

10. having any awards won by your players in the previous year given to them in a pre game cerimony prior to teams first home game.

11. removing the invisible barriers on walls and rails in ball parks so ball can go through, and players dont push on nothing when coming to a low wall

12. more ST Stadiums. if they have the rights to players and teams and logos why not more ST stadiums... sorry two per state is pretty lousy...

I always that it was crazy when wishlists started on release day. But 22 days prior?

# 193 jonasty @ 03/09/15 12:39 PM
I love the redone franchise but i hope they add some improvements for mlb 16

OFFSEASON:have other reasons for a player to sign besides money (team location, championship contender, star players on team, ect.)
-also ability to sign players to a minor league deal,
alot more trades in offseason
ability to add non roster invitees to spring training.

INSEASON: ability to see all top 50 prospects in a list (1-50) aswell as see your own teams top 10 prospects.
-would like to see them add in season contract negotiations and possibly a player popularity page which will increase if they make an all star game or get player of game, the more popular a player is the more jerseys will sell and increase budget a small amount (trading fan favourites will lessen gm rating.)
- Last thing is more waivers during the season it seems like there are not many players on waivers when in real life there is alot especially at the end of spring training when teams send down out of options players

OTHER: i want editable mlb and minor league service time and options left for created players so i do not see Carlos Rodon in the rule 5 draft after year one.

Does anyone know if ejections are in this year? Lol it'd be cool to see managers argue calls and get tossed.
Charging the mound after a hit by pitch has always been a wish of mine in baseball games. Some QTE for the fight would be amazing lol!

I don't think MLB will ever allow the user to start a fight or interact in it, but who knows. It is part of the game in real life. But The Show did have cutscenes for ejections and mound charges, no fights though. I can't recall what got taken out if anything did. I know I saw players get ejected after arguing last year, but they may have taken out the charging the mound cutscene.

I believe the MVP series had a top down view where you saw both teams run out of the dugout followed by a list of thrown out players haha.
