--------------

Hey Everyone,

As some of you may know, we promised to put together a community driven committee to help with the development of future iterations of the EA NHL franchise. Our goal is to bring the most passionate and knowledgeable community members into the studio to directly influence and shape the development of core game modes, as well as other aspects of the game. This first event will take place in early December.

This NHL Community Committee will eventually work to bring fan feedback directly to many aspects of the game, but the first objective is to help with the development of EA SPORTS Hockey League.

If you are interested in being part of this NHL Community Committee, please post in this thread and answer the following questions and let us know why you should be chosen:

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?
2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

After we have received enough applications, we will put the top candidates into a poll and the community will vote in the top 2 fans from OS onto the committee.

The entire committee will be made up of fans from different EA NHL communities, including the official EA Forums and Operation Sports.

Note: To participate in the committee you must reside in North America and be able to travel to Canada.

Thanks,
EA NHL Team.

I have been playing the NHL series since the original came out on the Sega I strictly only play offline however and try to immulate the season. Which unfortunately is not available this year but will be picking up a used copy soon for the ps4 for the playoffs. But I really think I could help move this series forward on the offline portion of it. I could be the Daczar of hockey

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?
I have been playing EASHL since I first found it in NHL 12. My favorite about it is having fun, playing very competitive games an winning. I love how you and your buddies can create a team with all custom players and work together to move up on the leaderboards. And when you win you're having fun.
2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
As part of the NHL Community Committee, I would like to influence the competitive side of the game mode. COD E-Sports is huge and I know there is an audience out there for some competitive 6v6 hockey. Also I would like to just generally help make the game more fun for the casual user.
3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?
I am an ideal candidate because I have been playing the game for awhile and feel I'm pretty good and know a lot of little things about the game. I also do upload NHL on YouTube. EASHL has always been less popular than HUT but I try to put out videos to those who like EASHL. I have uploaded player builds, tutorials, game-plays and other little things to try to spread EASHL to more people. I have about 4k subscribers on my channel based off of NHL. Doing NHL YouTube has put me in contact with a lot of different intelligent people and I have heard and thought of many different little ideas to help improve this great game mode we call EASHL.
Thanks again

I am a hockey fan, goes to hockey games, watch hockey and played NHL2K since the dreamcast and NHL series since EA hockey.

EAs issue is that the gameplay is tweaked towards arcade gameplay. And isnīt EASHL the cheese factory of the game, itīs all dekes and cheese moves?

The problem EAs game had is that itīs focuesed on the cheesey "cool" elements of the game , like deking is more rewarding than setting up plays and pokespamming is more rewarded than positioning. THe goalie can pass thru traffic. OPen ice hits are insane. PKs means you get breakaways all the time etc etc etc etc etc.

# 24 Drakar @ 11/06/14 01:57 PM
I think EASHL needs 2 leagues : Arcade league to satisfy the common deke , poke spamming lover and a sim league where the gameplay is tweak towards the hardcore hockey fan.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

Quite honestly, I haven't played EASHL much the past few years. Why? The overall feel that not playing real hockey wins you games. If it were revamped I would love to start enjoying this game mode. What I like about the mode is you get a team environment. Just like on a team everyone brings something different to the table. You need to understand what each person brings and find that chemistry in order to be successful.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

I would like to directly influence the AI and Be A GM.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

What makes me the ideal candidate is my experience with hockey. I've played since the age of 3 and at high levels. I know and understand the game very well due to my playing and job experience. I have played hockey video games the past 22 years, and more specifically the EA NHL series the past 19 years. Most of them were release day buys. Early in the 360 days I played mainly online, but then by NHL 11 I played strictly offline. I have been a part of the OS community for quite some time and believe that I have provided great feedback on this website about the game. I have done this constructively and believe that most of my issues with the game are also issues for most of the other people on this website as well. I would really enjoy representing the ideas of the people on OS, as well as my own to make this game better.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

I have been playing EASHL since NHL 10. My favourite part about the mode is playing with 5 friends against 6 other people. This game mode is the closest thing to simulating real life hockey and there is nothing more satisfying then winning a playoff game in OT with 5 of your friends.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

The part of the mode I would like to directly influence is the customization in EASHL. I feel this part of the mode has been lacking the past few years and I would love the opportunity to give my input. I have many ideas involving both logo and jersey customization, as well as player and goalie customization.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

I feel I am the ideal candidate for this committee as I have been playing the NHL series since NHL 2002 and am very active in the NHL YouTube community. I have seen how the game has evolved and improved over the past 13 years and I think I know what it needs to keep improving. I am also very active in the NHL YouTube community with almost 20,000 subscribers. I post a variety of NHL videos and I feel my fan base would be a great place to bounce around initial ideas for NHL 16 EASHL.

Thanks, TacTix

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

While granted I was introduced to the game mode and became immersed in the game mode in NHL 13. Ive had nothing but amazing times in the short time span I have had with the game mode. During the life cycle of the NHL 14, there was very few times more enjoyable getting on EASHL with some friends and just playing up against other players. That was my Friday night in NHL 14.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
The game modes I would like to have influence over is GM mode and Be a Pro (or live the life). In be a GM mode there are still some things missing. One that immediately comes to mind is free agency. No signings on day 1. Don't like it at all. We have carve out TV time for day 1 in canada and we get a flury of signings. live the life is so far behind NFL or NBA, its sad really. There is so much more I would do with that including putting our actual faces in the game. I could have pages of this stuff but for the sake of this, Ill stop here.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

I would be the ideal candidate because I have owned the game on yearly basis since 2003. Getting different versions of the game and I have also owned the 2K games as well (when they actually produced games for the consoles). Ive pre-ordered EA's titles in april cause buying it on day 1 isn't good enough. I look forward to may when the next edtion of game comes out cause by that team, its been a month since Ive seen flames hockey.

I haven't played much EASHL but I have played every version of NHL since I owneda Sega Genesis. I think it's a great mode to get together and play in a league with friends and all. But, what about the rest of us who don't care for online play and HUT? Are we left out in the cold? Don't we get a say in how to make this game better?

Why do I feel that this game's future is going to be completely tied up in online play and all the offline modes, that have made it the best hockey game ever, are just never going to come back?

I'm hoping that NHL 15 is suffering from lack of offline features such as Fantasy Draft, Edit Player, Tournament Mode, Live The Life, Creat-A-Team, GM Mode (controlling AHL games), Custom Music, and Winter Classic just because of the transition to next gen consoles.

If this is not the case maybe 2K Sports should come back and show you how to make a hockey game fun again. 2K was an ok game, never as smooth as EA, but they had a ton of more fun options than EA. Like the Legends teams. I had such high hopes when EA introduced this feature with the 100 year Montreal Canadians team a few years back. My hopes were quickly dashed when this team was taken out the next year, but it was replaced by a Legends Teams. This Legends team including 8 or 9 HOF players and then just a bunch of current players thrown in. Ok, it was a good start. Nthe following year EA announced a new crop of legends. I was excited. Then disappointed when these new Legends replaced the ones from last year. WTF? Why can't they just make real legends teams.

Take the Original Six teams and give us all time teams with the. Even charge us extra for them. Something like $4.99 a team or all 6 for $24.99. We know that EA is all about the dollars at this point (pre orders, HUT, and Season Ticket). If you want our money, actually give us some value for it, not just a game that is practically a Beta version and then "content updates" that add in game modes that should have already been there on release day.

If you want to "add new modes" why not do something crazy and actually add them. Why not an All Star Skills Competition. Who remembers the early versions of NHL? I believe it was 96 or 97 where EA had a skills competition in the game. Mit had Accuracy, Breakaway, Puck Relay, etc. why can't we do this now with "super superior next gen consoles"?

Why can't we add new leagues to the game? I live in Canada and I would love to see the USHL, ECHL, or even the NCAA added to the game. Why not? More and more players come from these leagues.we should be able to play them.

Roster sharing would be awesome too. I notice in EA's Madden franchise there is a community option where you can download other people's rosters. Why doesn't EA do this for all their sports games?

Am I the only one who notices this stuff? I don't care if I can play online? With next gen gaming you have to pay every month to play online now anyways, and for me it's not worth it. Give us our game back, or a partial refund for a partial game. I love the NHL franchise and it's the only reason I still play video games into my thirties. But I'm not too crazy with the way things are going. Please EA fix our game, not just online play.

If there is a future meeting regarding rosters or BaGM, I will want a spot at the meeting very badly. I could provide a wealth of impactful and game-changing ideas and guidance for both of these topics. I hope the OS community will back me if these meetings occur as I am confident that I could make an enormous impact on these two areas.
This guy for sure hands down.

If its not too late, I would like to put my name into the hat.

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

I have been playing EASHL since its inception in 08. To me the EASHL is much more than a hockey game, its the social aspect that draws me to this game mode. That is where I would bring my focus to this series and committee. This game mode is about friends and peers.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?
As per question one, I would want to influence the social aspect of the game and team building.
3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?
I am a long time user/player, hockey fan, video game fan and a Canadian. Living in Edmonton, long winters and hockey go together.

Thanks for the opportunity
Drog

I truly hope either a revamped guy or a slider guru gets the call from EA.

Agreed. Throw Shogun into that list as well, as long as he gets a case of beer with it to. With all of the editing Shogun and SimpleMathematics (and the rest of the Revamped team) have done they spend time trying to fix the areas that EA fails to improve. Just based off the man hours of editing that's reason enough to send them. I'm probably like Fiddy though. If I talked to those developers I may have a tendency to go awol if they say something I don't like. That's not my personality at all but this game has frustrated me to no end that it's just hit that point.

No update on this whole thing yet hey?

1. How long have you been playing EASHL? What is your favorite part about the mode?

I played EASHL from it's arrival in NHL 09 and stopped with NHL 13. My favorite part about the mode is that it's just make the game of hockey plain fun when you play with the right people. EASHL is just the kind of mode that has the most ressemblance with the tournaments we had in the basement when we we're 10-12 guys waiting in line to play next.

Last few years though, I've been playing more with making 6 clubs with the best players in the NHL and playing every game while taking a schedule of a 6-teams NHL season of the 50's. With the best players in the game, NHL 13 and 14 were more enjoyable than most modes we're there was shortcomings.

2. As part of the NHL Community Committee, what part of the mode would you like to directly influence?

If I was on the committee, I would like to have a say on AI and the way the game plays overall. My main grief about the EASHL is that it rewards people playing cheap hockey while people trying to play real hockey suffers because the game punish them for not playing "arcady" hockey. There's now way it should be easier in this game to deke out of it's skates a d-man then past a softie behind the goalie with another deke while scoring on a 2 on 0 is tough like crazy because every goalies act like they are made of rubber.

3. What makes you the ideal candidate for this committee?

I'm not an ideal candidate, not even close and I won't pretend it's the case. I understand the pressure of selling a game and that the market for hockey is smaller than it is for football or soccer, but there's something wrong with the NHL game for last few years.

On the other hand, I've been following hockey since I'm 4. I watch every type of hockey, NHL, AHL, CHL, US College Hockey, etc. I attend Quebec Pee-Wee Tournament every year since 1988 to watch the young stars of tomorrow. International hockey is also on the list. Watching Spengler Cup, IIHF Junior Tournament, World Championship. In may, I'll be in Quebec for the Memorial Cup.

Will I pretend I know hockey more than most people? No, I won't say that. What makes me different from most people who watch hockey is that I don't watch the game for the spectacular plays or a team winning. I watch for the details, things I've never saw and the system use by teams to get an edge.

I can't help myself hitting my head on the desk when playing Be A Pro as a D-Man and see for the last three years simulating for next shift and my guy jumping on the ice while we don't have the puck and it's in our own zone. Just that part makes me wonder what the hell is going on in Vancouver for this thing to be there.

Like Fiddy, I won't say I'm an ideal candidate for this committee because this game provided me too many frustrating moments for the last few years to make me as objective I could be, although I'm only hoping that NHL gets back to what it has been for me when I was younger, a way to get me smiling and have fun with friends.
