NHL 15 Free Content Update #1 Available Now - Playoff Mode, Coach Feedback, 3 Stars

As mentioned earlier this month, EA Sports and the NHL 15 team plan to release a couple of free content updates for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 users.

The first update has just arrived, which includes playoff mode, coach feedback in Be a Pro mode, 3 Stars, and updates in Hockey Ultimate Team.

The second update is scheduled to arrive in October, giving users Online Team Play and the GM Rookie Draft for Be a GM mode.

NHL 15 Content Update #1 Details:

Playoff Mode

Play an offline bracket tournament with up to 16 teams. Use the teams from the NHL or create your own tournament tree by selecting teams from up to 12 different leagues. Play or simulate each game and track player and team stats throughout the tournament.

Be a Pro - Coach Feedback

After each shift you will get the coach�s feedback while you are on the bench. The coach will give you tips on how to stay on top of your game and grade you on your game play. Score high grades on Position, Team Play, and Stats to work yourself up the teams depth chart.

3 Stars

At the end of the game, see the three stars and their stats.

Hockey Ultimate Team:

Updated layouts and improved navigation for HUT menus.
New animations for player items.
Improved edit lines screen that better identifies players that are injured or require contract extensions.

We will continue to release more content updates for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. These updates will include the addition of Online Team Play and a new GM Rookie Draft for the Be a GM game mode. For information about these updates and when you can expect to see them can be found here.

A season mode would be a bug fest and I really think this playoff mode has just been ported from 14 and the players in the cup celebration looked ps3 ish , even puck physics seem different but once again its always been a boosted mode and Im dead tired Ill try again later.

I saw in the "Update History" notes on PS4 that there's also "Over 100 improvements and fixes to game modes", apparently. I guess we're just supposed to take their word for it on that one and figure out what these are ourselves? Any info posted somewhere?

Exactly. You have to manually sim/play all games. There's no "your" team. Also, if you want to choose other than NHL in Playoffs, you have to manually switch every single team. You can't just choose "international" and have every team international. You have to do that separately for every team.

season mode should be in the first update.

So why not just start a playoff then sim the games where your team isn't involved and play the ones that it is?

This. Where is our patch notes for this EA? Can someone at OS ask them since they seem to only respond to you.

LOL to season mode. There is a season mode. It's called Be a GM. I'm happy to see a playoff mode and hope significant improvements are made to Be a GM before a generic "season" mode is implemented.

I for one have just seen one small change that I like. I believe the last game I played on Saturday I had my backup goalie in. It was nice to see the starter automatically back in the net the following game (if memory services correct). Also the game stats are present. They would come and go at times, hope it sticks this time.

ummm, no. Season Mode is special because you can play an entire season controlling multiple teams in any league. Be a GM is restricted to single-team control in the NHL. its completely different

I noticed some changes to the game for the "over 100 part". Hitting is harder to do and recorded video actually records every sound. Also heard some new lines and audio itself.

I understand there is some subtle differences between Be a GM and "Season" mode, but I'd prefer to see more resources dedicated to fix issues in the present Be a GM before complaining about the lack of a single-season game mode. That's not to take EA off the hook for lack of game modes in this development cycle, but in prioritizing resources at the present to give those who spent $60 the best possible game, a generic rehashed NHL 14 season mode is well at the bottom of the wish list, just seems like a waste of resources at this point IMHO. I'd prefer an improved BAGM and no season over a mediocre BAGM and rehashed season mode.

My reason for wanting a season mode is I like to play an OHL season as my hometown team, if I could BAGM in the OHL that'd be fine, but season mode has been the only option since NHL11.

Well there are a lot of people who would disagree. Everyone is entitled to their thing that they prioritize. If you like GM mode that's cool and yes you should want that fixed first and foremost. I, like many others like season mode. In season mode we were able to control all teams and rosters and not have to deal with all the front office stuff. As BeaGM stands now you can only control one team and even with all the things turned off you turn off, the CPU still signs free agents from the FA list leaving you with unrealistic team rosters. You also cannot force trades from CPU teams to CPU teams so you cannot make trades as they happen during the real season. If they allowed us full Roster control in BeaGM I Could live with it but I don't see that making it in to this years game. That being said no sports game should ever be released without the basic mode in which that league actually does....play a season. Here's to hoping we all get our wish. Cheers

i think there will no season mode or sim to shifts in any post lanch update. i don't know how u could play with european teams in a league.

I can confirm that the 3 Stars have been added to my already started BaGM. I just had to hit L1/R1 on the menu after the game ended.

So we have that going for us I guess. Still hoping for a Player Editor and that this Draft gets implemented properly.

I sure hope they announce editing players and full AHL roster control and games in GM. The game seems broken without them.

Looking forward to teamplay and Be a Pro updates, mainly starting off in the AHL or something after the draft. Although by the time that comes out I'll probably be too far into my career to want to start over.
