NBA 2K15 News Post

A YouTube user who was lucky enough to get advanced PR data for NBA 2K15 has perhaps revealed a few key new details about this year's game from both the MyTEAM and MyCAREER modes.

Here is the exact information posted in the video:

MyTEAM:

Buy, earn, and collect valuable cards then sell them to other players and friends.
  • Gold Cards.
  • Unique Cards.
  • Booster Packs.
  • Classic Card Packs.
  • Special Challenges.
MyCAREER:

MyCAREER lets you take your MyPLAYER on a hero's journey from undrafted rookie to unlikely MVP to undisputed Hall of Fame superstar and get advice from legendary coaches and players every step of the way.
  • Upgrade Stats.
  • Buy clothes/shoes.
  • Complete challenges.
  • Become Great

Now obviously, all of this isn't officially announced so it's possible any of the above details aren't final and could actually not be in the game. However, both sections tend to indicate big changes for each mode, with MyTEAM featuring an auction house of some kind and MyCAREER possibly taking you the route of an undrafted rookie.

What do you think about each section?

To be honest, I don't like being forcibly undrafted at all. Half the excitement is seeing yourself get drafted on the podium.

2k11 had the best draft/summer league/combine experience. With all that's gone right, I guess no draft is this years' one big step back. There's always one. There must be some storyline or advantage of being undrafted that the devs are in love with-- because not being able to be drafted seems completely unthinkable in any representation of an NBA career.

I hope being undrafted is just an option. I don't like being force fed storylines. Absolutely kills
replayability. I wish my career was as sim as association/My GM. It would be legendary.

Unfortunately this sounds like a knee jerk reaction to people complaining about becoming too good, too fast. Start Undrafted, 55OVR. Problem solved.

Horrible solution if true, chances are most MyCareer players prefer being drafted it's just the disgruntled minority who grumble about being too good, too fast.

I wish that they had a really involved pre-nba storyline I guess making it a little harder to get into the nba...with all of the included euroleague teams I would enjoy being able to play there first and get better before coming back overseas and playin in the league.. That's just me tho because I prefer the journey as opposed to instantly being in the league and having the game get redundant with occasional cut scenes

Are we undrafted, but then have to prove ourselves and generate interest for other teams through the summer league? That sounds like it could be cool and a step in the right direction, not forcing us to be a prodigy superstar but not ruling it out either.

I just don't want the overly scripted and predetermined crap from 2K14 again.

There needs to be an option to do this or get drafted high and be the second coming. And everything in between.

The more options on how our player progresses and how our story unfolds, the better.

I personally don't need to put on a clown nose in cut scenes or have a faux rivalry with Jackson Ellis to make this mode fun.

Not to be a total skeptic, but there are a few grammatical errors in that first page of info shown in the video..."weather" or not you believe this is an authentic job aid, I will leave that up to you all.

Would be cool for single player only, but if you take your guy online and he started out as a 80 how would that be fair to the people who picked undrafted?

Just assuming they wanna keep it level for people who take to the Park or Crew.

I noticed that too, but here is a picture of other job aids. I wouldn't post this if I didn't think it was legit. http://gyazo.com/dc994287af0fbc18ddd81f40f2b08ef5

I will update the original post with this, but I noticed Steam had the same undrafted My Career info for their game description, but it since has been removed. What do you guys think this means?

It could mean anything.

The way that your job-aid reads to me is that the MyPlayer just starts out undrafted at the time of creation. The very same thing could be said with 2k14, where before the draft, your MyPlayer was undrafted.

I have more concerns with MyCareer this year than in the past - the best think 2k could do is to separate the offline MyPlayer from the online MyPlayer - the fact that they keep trying to shoehorn the two together just leads to compromises which make the experience worse.

I saw that too, and with leaked info it's always 50/50; but for something so descriptive and such a reputable provider of the info like Steam to me it seems to be an actual leak.

I feel like if they're going the route of a linear story again, it's much more interesting if you're fighting for a spot on the roster, than stepping in right away and them forcing you to be "the man".
As long as it's more of a challenge in terms of actually gameplay I like the story, because even as a 70 overall (not bragging) I could play Hall of Fame and average 50 a game on 12 minute quarters...and you have to just to win half the time.
Hopefully they might add sliders to My Career, it would help a lot in my opinion. If not, than maybe it'll be harder to be a star which I wouldn't mind at all.

I feel like if they're adding back Crew, or something like that, they should definitely separate online and offline careers.
Keep VC out of the online world, it's a crutch to people who need a 99 overall and it takes away the competitiveness and the whole point of grinding to get your player to a star.

Definitely some cool info. I kinda prefer being drafted since it's more realistic. Never know where you could end up. Hopefully it's optional. Not a deal breaker or anything though just a preference.

If they bring back Jackson Ellis or whoever, hope they limit references to "Social Media." And have him realistically react to my progress. I can smash him every time we play, but he's just as cocky and arrogant as ever with no levity or way to let him know "Dude, you are like 0-8 vs me, man. I'm just better than you." Or something.

Either way, I'm liking a LOT of what I see.

No worries...it is hard to fathom that official documents like these do not get proofread before distribution to end users, but I guess anything's possible these days. Thanks for the info!

You can buy VC and make your guy a 99 overall in less than 5 minutes if you so choose and then take him online. That is currently happening, so I really doubt they'd be thinking about making it fair to everyone in regards to my idea.

Now, a simple fix would be to have people use different created guys in The Park or Crew as they use in single player, but that would probably alienate a large portion of the fan-base so I'd have to assume they wouldn't want to do that.

Sounds fun.

Could be amusing to see how long it takes to get my PF back up to dominating the paint, lol.

That's dope. I wouldn't mind going undrafted and having the Cavs pick me up. I like the news that's coming out.
