Probably doesn't take Live as serious. The only reason to rage is if you care. Probably just didn't care enough to rage, lol.

The only positive thing I can say about EA releasing an NBA game is that it stops 2K getting complacent. This is just so far behind NBA 2K it's almost hard to watch.

cue people saying " well we didn't expect them to be at the same level, they just needed to put out a decent effort this year" ... i wonder when Live folks really expect EA to bet at par?

Why wouldn't it? If you have a winning formula, are you supposed to change it every year?

Live however has the losing formula, but refuses to change it year after year. same crappy gameplay. That's why improvements feel so refreshing.
You mean their one game nba live 14? NBA live 10 had a pretty good game of basketball on there hands.

I'm gonna purchase it, because it will be my online competitive basketball game. But paying $60 is where I might have the problem. Maybe there will be a special around Black Friday or so. I would definitely buy for $30.

But if both games are on the shelf at $60, I can't warrant that purchase. I definitely can afford it, but right now the two games are just too far apart to be priced the same. I will definitely say that Live is taking a positive step in the right direction this year, and I hope it continues

i do mean Live from all the way back. I latched onto 2K fairly early (esp starting with the leap that was 2K5..ditched Live totally the following year) because I just felt it played better and had more natural movements.

I guess it's preference when Live became the crappy one (and to some it's still the best today I suppose), but my point is that 2K took over with the winning formula that edged out Live... just with better gameplay, they took out the giant. There's no reason why 2K would have to "feel significantly different" every year. So to say "eh, 2K feels the same", really doesn't mean anything other than they are carrying over a solid core.

I try to skip a year between sports games because it feels like I'm just buying a roster update with new bells and whistles.

But EA is making it really difficult.

They are a good 4 cycles behind what a next gen game should be.

On that alone it does not warrant a $60 purchase.

At this point, Live 15 will sell simply because it is playable.
Yep. "Different" plays a big role. I'm happy with the other series so different isnt enough for me to buy it. I want just as good or better.

Also, I'm a huge NBA fan but I dont have time for two games. Especially with other games (Madden, Fifa, UFC, WWE) taking my time. I just want the best game with the best features.

If any other sports game showed huge flaws like floaty passes, lack of on ball movement and rebounding issues.....people would kill that game universally. Some are willing to give Live a pass based on the promise that the game will improve in the next few years.

I on the other hand won't give Ea a dime of my money until it's on par with the competition with gameplay, animations and features. I'm not supporting a startup. I'll pay them when the game is complete.

I hope we'll see at least some more user impressions from the floor today. I think it's moreso open to the public today.

Yeah, I think you're right. I just went back and looked. Yesterday only.

Ah well. Hopefully we'll get some additional information and gameplay videos soon. Not just snippets, hopefully at least 1 minute or two.

Not trying to turn this into a Live vs 2k thread, but you described a lot of issues that are in both games. 2k's passes have been floaty for a few years, and their rebounding has been pretty bad as well. Off-ball movement isn't lacking, but it's also not really good from an AI standpoint.

Again, not trying to defend Live or attack 2k, but I wanted to point that out. People tend to go where the eye candy is. If Live was where 2k is from a visual standpoint, I would be willing to bet the sales and reviews would be fairly split.
