Madden NFL 15 News Post

One of the biggest issues with the EA's Madden franchise for years has been the head-scratching decisions made by the AI, either from your teammates, or your opponents. So many times fans of the series have watched computer players routinely ignore the action on the field, and act as if they were involved in some type of digital point-shaving scheme. Communities such as Operation Sports have tried their best to tweak sliders to compensate for the apparent lack of logic, but only so much could be done to negate the consistent absurdity of the AI decision making.

far as calling TO's yes they smarter that way instead of going into halftime or ending the game have seen the cmp actually use them.

the cmp isen't smarter with getting rid of the ball though seen way to many times the cmp should throw ball away but still takes sack's even with adjusted rosters and sliders both in play now, cfm.

even in play calling it seem's not be as smart as EA has claimed like when they said the AI will react to same play being call we'll I've taken that into practice mode and the out come hasen't been what EA stated have ran same play 10 times in row... most results were TD's other 2 times were very long completions.

I had a play where in the middle of the play the LT and the RE switched roles. The RE started blocking and the LT starting going after the QB. It was the craziest thing I ever saw on madden.

I still think the AI passing is to unrealistic. I would be all over the QB all game and he still completes the passes. It's either a completed pass or a sack almost every time. No matter the QB's skill level, I thought that was supposed to be changed, where you wouldn't get shredded by lesser QB's.

Yes! And to take this one step further, I've seen on numerous occasions the CPU QB roll left and throw back to right side of the field in a way that can only be described as totally impossible.

We wonder why there are cheese players out there? Because EA's own game plays that way. Smarter? No. Cheesy? Yes!

I personally think the whole problem with passing relies within the WR-CB interactions. I believe this is the part of the game where EA needs to show the biggest improvement.

I know right, I was in the Superbowl against the Pats and I knocked out Tom Brady on a sack. Dislocated Ankle (that seems to be a big injury this year, the Saints had all 3 QB's out with this same injury when I played them earlier in the season and faced their Punter at QB!)

The backup comes in and I think cool maybe I will be able to defend some passes, instead he completes 10/10 of his first 10 passes lol........he was throwing even better than Brady was before his injury!

It'd be nice if the AI defense picked up on tendencies. You can run the same play and beat them over and over again. I also haven't seen 2 defenders cover 1 WR since about Madden 06. It doesn't happen often but then again going back to tendencies if you're passing to the same guy over and over, a defense would be inclined to do that. Example Calvin Johnson.

I had the same thing happen to me in my very first pre season game no injuries but 1st quarter ended and it was a close game 13-3 at time next thing u know the lions back up QB is throwing darts everywhere and I look at the score and its all sudden 34-13 lions... at time I stopped the game he was 17-17 200+ yards and was working on his 3rd td of second quarter. I mean even Stafford was throwing bad throws but this guy was playing like manning or brady so so much for back ups playing different then starters they play BETTER!!!! lmao.

That's happened a few times for me too. The tackle started doing a spin move lol

When it comes to coverage, I think it's bogus. User defenders do not play smarter in zones, and they don't even shade the area the receivers are running to. It's like the drop back and sit and wait for the CPU to complete the pass.

I play as Seattle and my biggest headache of the game is the CPU does complete a number of passes, but its a game with no real barrings on WR/DB's. I want to have to fear throwing at Peterson/Haden/LOB, on every throw near them, not just 15yds+ downfield..... and this series hasn't had that yet.

# 11 BigBadTom @ 09/09/14 04:07 PM
This is frustrating because there is an easy fix that EA already attempted. They have animations where the DB and WR go up together and jump for the ball, but these animations almost never occur. I do think the entire WR DB interactions need to be built from the ground up, the two player jousting animations could be an easy fix, but they are nowhere to be found

The short answer is hell no.

that's funny because EA said they fixed this before release Clint said they saw this and it be patched in before release I guess it never got patched.

As far as the receivers going being too passive, that's what user catching is for.... I hardly ever allow the CPU t make the catch for me. I do it myself more often that not

# 15 m1ke_nyc @ 09/09/14 05:44 PM
Is the game smarter ? yea BUT its still severely flawed. When I see plays like Geno Smith dropping back then scrambles to his right then fires a rocket across his body to the other side of the field with pin point accuracy to his receiver he never even looked at I just shake my head.

# 16 HealyMonster @ 09/09/14 05:47 PM
No, the game is not smarter.

Yes he did the same in my video too. I had to save the replay to get a good laugh.

Maybe smarter, but not smart.

Thats like asking if I'm Richer; So if I have $5 then $10 I am richer, but I'm still very poor.

# 19 BreakingBad2013 @ 09/09/14 06:31 PM
Anytime a QB sits and waits to take a sack or won't throw the deep ball, the AI is highly suspect.

# 20 x LuvMESumME x @ 09/09/14 07:14 PM
No I don't believe this game is any smarter then the other maddens. I've tested out all madden without any sliders while using the Seahawks. If you don't control someone in the middle of the defense they will murder you up and down the field. I just think that the AI that plays on your team does not match what the opposite team does. Your players won't jump routes like the other team everything is just different. That's something I really don't understand. Shouldn't have to use sliders if I'm pick the right play against their coverage.
