NHL 15 News Post

(This post has been promoted to the homepage. Written by NHL 15 Producer, Sean Ramjagsingh)

Thanks for being part of this journey as we head into the launch of NHL 15 on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, the start of a new generation of hockey videogames. We’re incredibly proud of the next-generation gameplay and presentation experience we’ve created for all our fans. From the Next-Generation Hockey Player and True Hockey Physics to the Unrivalled In-Arena Experience and a revolution in Broadcast Presentation, I’m extremely proud of what our team has delivered in one year on new technology. The focus on a new gameplay and presentation engine will not only deliver a great game now, but also give us the foundation to deliver next-generation hockey experiences to you for the years to come.

However, we’re not done. We’re committed to keeping the experience fresh throughout the hockey season, in addition to the roster and ratings updates you’ve always received, the list below contains the free content updates for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 we’re working on and our expected window on when you will see them in the game:

September:

Playoff Mode
Create a custom offline tournament bracket with up to 16 teams from any of the 12 leagues in the game. Play or simulate each game and track player and team stats throughout the tournament.

Be A Pro - Coach Feedback
Get the coach’s feedback while you are on the bench. The coach will give you tips on how to stay on top of your game and grade you on your play.

3 Stars of the Game
At the end of the game, see the three stars and their high level stats. Will apply to every game mode.

Hockey Ultimate Team
Several content updates, including:
• Changed layout and navigation in HUT store
• New animations for player items
• Improved edit lines screen to better identify players that are injured or require contract extensions

October:

Online Team Play
Online multiplayer mode where every player on the ice can be human controlled.

GM Draft
For the first time in the NHL franchise, you will be put on the clock and feel the pressure like real NHL GM’s. You will now only have 3 minutes to make a draft pick. If the pressure is too much, you can also call timeouts to extend the amount of time you have to make a draft pick or potentially negotiate a trade. You can make trades at any time during the draft. The CPU will also propose trades to each other and the user throughout the draft.

------

As always your feedback is fundamental to how we make NHL better and better, so we will also be looking to what you want to see implemented in the game.

Thanks
Sean

It's pointless to be soo mad. You must remember that they do not legally have to update the game....at all. So they will take their time in all likelihood.

And that is really THE BIGGEST INSULT to all who were hoping that this game should have addressed the glaring issues of gameplay but without taking away features from other modes like BaGM etc. Very Disgusting.

It's only been out a week and I am already kind of bored with it, despite all their faults I never had that with previous years releases. With all the missing stuff that I find enjoying I'm left with just play now. After a week despite looking good and playing well (except the still broken penalties) I'm just finding my play now games all feel the same. The intensity is gone and it's just missing something. If I don't hear something soon, and I think no matter what they fix I won't get my total roster control and edit player, I will be trading this in

BUT DAMMIT RAMMER..... DO YOUR ACT NOW. HE's a DISGRACE to the Sport and to the Sports Video game industry.
In your own words, you don't want to be banned, so you hold your tongue. Then in the next sentence, you single out one person and call him a disgrace. Between that and your ALL CAPS ranting, you're not really meeting OS standards. Get it together.

I have been saying that this was going to happen. Not surprised by this at all. It's like playing a game that only has one level/mission. It gets old quick. That is why I did not buy this game....I LOVE hockey...it is by far and away my favorite sport...but I know that I would play this game for about a week before I just got burnt out on it. No depth to the gaming experience makes for a very forgettable product.

To be fair calling someone a disgrace is not really hurling an insult. I see nothing wrong with voicing one's displeasure at an individual SO LONG as they do not use foul and demeaning language....which he did not do. Frankly, I think that what the EA hockey team has done is terribly disgraceful. They tried to decieve us and attempted to steal our hard earned money from us by not being forthcoming. If one cannot be vociferous about that...well then I don't know what to say.

The caps thing...yeah. You got him there.

Do you guys think the GM draft patch will include an option to start a GM mode with a fantasy draft?

I mean, since its essentially the exact same mechanic..

No. If it wasn't listed on the first page of this thread, by Rammer, then I wouldn't think it would be addressed in NHL 15.

Yep - editing players and the missing AHL management/games on GM mode. Those are the two killers for me.

I really don't want to get into a long discussion, but in the interest of transparency, I will reply. It's not about the statement being true or justified, it's not how we do things here. From the TOS:

Quote:
Constructive Criticism
We allow all opinions on Operation Sports. But if you want to be negative, it needs to be constructive. Bashing a game developer is not constructive at all, for any reason. Bashing a game period is not constructive. Whining/complaining/acting like a middle schooler is not constructive. If you want to be constructive, say what is wrong with the game specifically. Any negativity that is not constructive will not be tolerated.
Of course we can be critical of the missing features, lack of information, gameplay issues, bugs, etc. While we let a lot go around release, it's time for cooler heads to prevail. We're not going to focus on the PEOPLE who make the game. You can disagree with it, but that's how it works at OS.

Does anyone know if they will be including the trade deadline along with the draft? It seems weird to get to the trade deadline and have nothing happen. It's such a big day for a gm it would seem like a shame to overlook it.
