He rebounds exceptionally well, is average defensively and pads his percentage with tip-ins.

At an 83, i can understand people being worried about player differentiation. that said, its neen said that the cpu will take many factors into valuing players.

His FG% on tip-ins is 55%, while his overall FG% is 62%, so I'm curious to know how that pads his %

as roster maker said the INDIVIDUAL ratings make all the difference. Defense wasnt weighted heavily in the old system so more than likely this new system accounts for his shot blocking ability.

A large amount of his attempts are tip-ins vs creating his own shot. therefore his shot percentage is really a better reflection of his rebounding than his offensive ability.

I need to get my hands on the game to see the big picture as far as ratings, but at this point i agree some changes or tweaks needed to be made, but im not sure these are them.

Things like lateral quickness and off ball defense could be added to better differentiate, and a heavier value could be placed on stamina, shooting, speed, hustle and durability for bigs. Actually bigs could have had a higher value in general in MyLeague to replicate real life.

Not gone knock the new system until i give it a fair shake tho.

I think when you get all the numbers you can decide whether the numbers make sense and are they consistent. I expect the centers to be ranked very closely

After seeing these numbers I actually find it hard to believe that there is a 90+ rated center.

Brook Lopez and Al Jefferson are the guys who are great on offense from a low post offense and average or above average on the perimeter. Brook will get dinged for being a weak rebounder which I think is a big factor for centers and Jefferson for probably vertical and quickness and not a great shot blocker

Dwight, Jordan, Drummond: Are the athletic bigs great at pick and roles and finishing above the rim on cuts. None of them are great post up guys but they are about average. Jordan is slightly better at help defense but they are all close at rim protection. Neither can shoot out of the paint or a FT. Dwight may get the most post up chances out of these three but he really isn't great in post ups. Drummond elite rebounder and great at steals.

M. Gasol and Noah: Great passers, Can shoot outside of the paint but I wouldn't call them great from outside of the paint. Noah will be the hustle guy that lacks elite athleticism or the ability to score in the post so he will get dinged for that. However he is probably the best center in perimeter defense. Gasol will get dinged for not being very athletic pick and rolls and not all that great of a rebounder just average

It has be claimed that only 4 guys are rated in the 90's correct? We have LeBron and Durant for sure. I'm going to assume Chris Paul is a 3rd..

That leaves Dwight/Melo/Harden/Curry/Aldridge/Blake/Love/Westbrook/George/Davis/ and whoever else might possibly be able to crack the 90's..

Let's say a couple of those guys are 88's that means they only separate themselves from Drummond by 5 points. There is a MUCH larger gap than that between Drummond and the leagues elite stars. How much of a gap does that create between the other guys who aren't quite at that top level? Guys like Wall/Klay/Kyrie/Gasol/Jefferson/Cousins/DeRozan/Lillard/Wade/Bosh, etc.. Is there a chance Drummond is actually better than them, or even other guys he might not should be?

And I know we say "overall is just a number" and that's true to an extent.. If I'm just at home playing a quick game against the CPU or a friend then overall really means nothing.. But I've always been a franchise/dynasty/myGM guy.. That's pretty much all I play. And overall does play a factor. It determines who starts on the computer teams, how much trade value a player has, the types of touches the player gets, etc.

Its like comparing a good decathlete to a great sprinter. The new overall system does a better job at grading overall value instead of overall skill which I would argue is more important in a game of specialist and makes for better CPU AI management. When you factor youth/potential and salary Drummond is not far from those guys you mentioned. I doubt the overall system factors salary though.
