NBA Live 15 News Post

We had our first glimpse of NBA Live 15 way back in April, then in June we found out the release date (October 7th) and read an open letter from Sean O’Brien, which promised a lot for NBA Live fans to be excited about. Here is a direct quote from it.

Quote:
We’ll start sharing gameplay details in July, and will continue to provide in-depth insight through August and September. During this time there will be plenty of content popping up here on the NBA LIVE website, as well as hands-on previews from your favorite sports and gaming outlets. We know we’ve got a lot to prove this year, and we’ve got a solid plan in place to provide you with all the details and take the first steps to making NBA LIVE 15 a game you’re excited to play.

Looking back at July, gameplay details were not revealed. In fact, the only real information that we had in the month of July was that a demo could come earlier than expected and they placed the @NBA Twitter handle on the basketball. Maybe the loss of Scott O'Gallaher sent them scrambling? Who knows, let's move on to August.

This month has been filled with screenshots of various arenas and a late Damian Lillard cover announcement with a few more screenshots of him sprinkled in. Not exactly the "in-depth insight" fans were expecting.

While there were some hands-on impressions in August from GameInformer and MMGN, as well as a podcast from our friends at NLSC, no other site has written anything else about the game.

So here we are, almost in September and we still don't know what to expect from the game. What modes are there? What gameplay changes have been made? What are they hiding from us?

NBA Live fans deserve better.

It's just a number, who's to say it's really that many improvements? And The more descriptive they are, the more truth you need to tell. Unless they can back it up, they might not want to get too descriptive.

Time will tell...

I don't say this sarcastically or chastising at all. I wish I had the patience that Live fans have. To be able to stick through a game that hasn't even been on track for the last 4-5 years is amazing. To be optimistic about the upcoming game for it? Even more so.

I'll tell you though, it's not a good thing to release the same day as 2K. They should have aimed for a week earlier or so. Because that would lead to more trying the game, people itching for updated basketball rosters. Instead, you're going to basically make a lot of people who can't afford both, choose one or the other. Track record does not go in Live's favor.

I pledge no allegiance to either brand, I just want competition and quality basketball..Both games have their issues, it just comes down to having options..I remember back in the day there was Live, Nba Inside drive, Kobe Bryant's Nba Courtside, 2K, and ESPN NBA 2Night...We had options as fans..If Live does poorly, 2K will get lazy and you're not going to see the game improve like you want...Same problem is happening with baseball, hockey, and golfing games..At least Fifa has to compete with PES on a level somewhat..

Thanks for posting this.

I've been ghosting this sub-forum for months, growing increasingly frustrated, wanting to make a post like this but fearful that it would be met with anger (or infractions! Who knows!).

The Developement team has been surprisingly and refreshingly candid about their missteps with 14 (though I'll save my tangent on them doing so AFTER THEIR MARKETING BLITZ for another time). I can respect that. But here we go again with them making the same old promises and NOT showing us anything.

Want some next gen graphics? Ok, because we promise that's what you'll get with 15. Here's a screenshot from as far away as possible from anything of relevance! Like that? Cool. We'll trickle out 29 more of these players the size of ants shots then.

SMH.

Where's the gameplay videos, EA? The game drops in 5 weeks.

Id say some are a little overboard defending everything they do. Honestly doesn't do them any good.

As much as hate to defend EA, they are in a damned if you do damned if you don't position. There are way to many people out there locked and loaded just waiting.

Ok I'm going to stick my neck out a bit.

We've really gotten just about the same amount of info on Live as we have on 2k15. From 2k we've gotten an amazing interview with Rob Jones on myLeague. We've gotten some gamescom footage, We got news that PC is getting a full nextGen port (awesome awesome news btw). We got a few screen shots and just this past week we got the yakem trailer.

From Live we've gotten a few early face scan screenshots. We got a hands on preview from gamescom (mentioned in the article I think). We got an amazing in depth interview with Sean O'Brian on NLSC (mentioned in the article). And a few court screen shots (which imo weren't that impressive).

There was a lot of info in that interview though. They talked about modes, gameplay direction, animation stuff. Pretty much an overview on most aspects of the game. We know that dynasty mode will NOT be super in depth this year, meaning probably not much improved over last hear. And well basically that as far as game modes go, its just not their focus this year. Its going to be gameplay driven. They've implemented some real time physics to a few aspects of the game. They talked about tweaks to the bounce tech stuff. The guy didn't hold back too much based on what be was asked by Andrew and JaoSming.

I totally get that they haven't followed their own info release schedule and that's sort order the point but we can't say "oh we don't know absolutely anything about the game".

Based on what we know Live should be a much improved effort on the gameplay and graphical side, skimpy on the game mode and extra stuff. It wont get to to the same floor as 2k is, even on said improved gameplay and graphics but it might get into the building this time.

The release of Madden probably has something o do with the lack of information. Now that Madden is out marketing NBA Live will hopefully start soon.

With the state of the Live franchise being what it is, they need to do waaay more than put out a couple screenshots... are they still even putting out a game this year? Sheesh!

I'm really glad the owner of this forum said something about this matter. This article will carry weight and light a fire under the Live team now. Put up or continue to be a distant second.

I'm actually disappointed. I used to be one of those #LiveNation hype dudes that bought every Live blindly and hated every other basketball game (back when there were at least 3 choices every year). Then I got tired of the laziness and outright cockiness of EA with some of their releases. I then started playing (and liking 2K), but I always had this fantasy that Live would get its stuff together and I would start playing Live. I love choices

But another year and its the same thing. Same 4 people (we know who they are lol) defending everything they do and same ol' excuses of 3 year plans, we are working on this, work in progress, apologies, next year we will add this.., we didn't have enough time to do this..., blah blah blah. All we are asking for is a good alternative to 2K. Maybe that's too much to ask, but I agree with the OP. Basketball fans are getting duped. The hardcore Live fans will accept anything they do like another poster stated.

Maybe 2K does well because of their super vocal fanbase. No way Take Two could get away with this stuff. Hopefully this is all one great big plan by Live and we will be blown away. I'm crossing my impatient fingers lol

I mean really? The game comes out October 7th. I'm satisfied with the info I've received. 2k15 hasn't given any info on my player features let alone the The Park. It's so easy to jump on Live now. Where the passion for a screwed up M15 Disconnected Franchise? Such a cliché article to get people to pile on. Be patient and we will see. So sick of this instant generation. It's not like we can play it now anyways. 2k15 advertising bootleg videos of people who can't play the game and we applause that and say "see 2K15 is winning, yeah."

Seriously tho I'm anxious and excited for this game too, no gameplay doesn't mean they failed. I don't get a free 10% discount card from EA or 2k so sigh if u think I work for EA. I'm getting both games anyways.

2 fingers saying peace

Would definitely like to see some on screen gameplay soon.

Instant generation? I'm not picking on you, but you really should have thought this out before you posted this. We have waited for a solid game from the Live team since 2010. The last solid game from them in my opinion was Live 10. The Elite 11 debacle and cancellation, No Live 12 release, Live 13 cancellation after footage was leaked of poor gameplay, and a subpar next-gen installment in Live 14. If anything supporters have been very patient with them, but their get out of jail free card has run out now.
