NBA 2K15 News Post

OSer DaWolf had the opportunity to attend Gaescom, and was able to get his hands on the sticks with NBA 2K15 for a solid amount of time. With plenty of game time, and a chance to speak with Senior Prodcer Rob Jones, DaWolf put together an impressions piece for Operation Sports as we get closer to the October 7 release date of the next NBA 2K iteration.

An easy pickup for a Hornets van. Revamped team with great new players, new court, new units and improved gameplay.

This is exactly what I want to hear. Hopefully, the days of driblling around in circles waiting for help to facilitate a kick out three are over.

Are you saying that you guys have been able to change up the help defense quite a bit?

No doubt. Typically when a guy gets by you that's a wrap for that possession cause your teammates ain't doing jack to help you.

My main problem with the help defense in 2k14 is that AI would frequently come off of shooters, one pass away, to help on a drive when it isn't needed, which results in open 3 after 3. (I dunno who coded this but it is an AWFUL defensive strategy).

The bigs should be the one to step over to stop the drive then the weak side defender comes over and covers the big's man (Just like how Lebron came over and covered Birdman's man)

I just hope the AI is more aware of the situation and is smarter with their defensive rotations.

What are you talking about developer show unfinished products all the time and with the yearly cycle of sports game they have no choice, there will be tweeks up until the final minutes before mass production.

Yup! Getting an easy 3 one pass away was incredibly easy last year. There was also what I call "dump cheese" happening a lot as well. What I mean by "Dump Cheese" is when a guard is driving down the lane, the on ball defender is in great position, yet the big would come over and help anyway allowing a dump off to a score. A lot of work has been done on the defensive end both fundamentally and schematically.

Very true, seeing guys helping, especially in situations where they didn't have to and when they should have but didn't was definitely a sore spot.

That's great news... here's hoping that this has helped the bunching up in the paint if you know what I mean.

And what about D help in p&r? or in off-screens? it has been improved as well? and the execution of the plays themselves? is the roll/screen man going for the defender instead of being static in the floor?

Were you able to fix a leggacy issue where when you beat a person off the dribble they (usually the cpu) got a speed boost to catch back up?

Has anything said about passing? My biggest complaint for 2k14 was the slow, inaccurate passes which lands on a player's head, body or leg often. Can you control when to use a bounce pass? I always turn the ball over when it decides to use bounce pass in a crowded area.

And what about psychic defense? CPU tries to steal every pass in the passing lane.

You are slowly moving up the ranks young man. The dump cheese is a killer. It is responsible for at least half of what I refer to as "bs pip", it is the twin brother of zigzag cheese. You seem to be up on evrything and it is appreciated.

.Please allow the defender to keep our hands up on passes when guarding a ballhandler with the right stick. This is another way to combat dump cheese. The one handed over the head passes are a killer because the ai makes my hands go down even if I am holding the right stick. If the ai allowed me to keep my hands up when I see the dump cheese coming it would be a deflection alot of the time. Thanks again.

I really hope they did something about this too.
