I live in Washington which in one of the 10 states listed. All I had to do was produce an ID card which I figure was for them to make me a gamer zone member. They could've entered my info into a database for all I know though. At least I wasn't finger printed.
According to the law when you "trade-in" a video game in the way that you do at Best Buy, Gamestop, Wal-Mart, etc. you are actually selling them the game. So the law treats these transactions the same way any pawn shop would. The intent is to put and end to, or at least curb, the selling of stolen goods. Depending on what state you are in you are required to give at least your thumbprint (Texas requires all 10 fingers now), so you may already have your fingerprint on record (i.e. the only thing you are doing is further confirming your trade-in on a game - Best Buy and your financial records will also reflect this fact.

It could be that your state requires your thumbprint when you get your driver's license (My state does, and there are others) so all that is needed is your Driver's license info and the police would be able to track down you thumbprint in the case that the item you traded in was stolen.
In states where its required for your license there is nothing to worry about, for those in states that don't require that you do risk putting yourself "on the grid" but you're already on it by virtue of having an ID and/or Social Security Card. And good luck getting convicted if they can't match your fingerprints to the ones found at the scene of the crime (i.e. they aren't going to implicate you based on fingerprints if they don't match yours). Fingerprinting simply isn't that big of a deal for non-criminals, unless you are actually living off the grid (as in you have no paper trail whatsoever) and want to keep it that way.
I preordered today... I personally was confused by the coupon because I didn't realize I needed to preorder by the 23rd. I simply didn't see the lighter text across the top, and zeroed into the 'redeem by 8/30' verbiage. It's a very tight 'preorder by this date and redeem the coupon by this date' setup, but the manager said that if they can't get it to work then they'll just knock $10 off when I pick it up.
My mistake, just misread, if they decided not to honor I'm cool with that.
Then they had me pay for my preorder anyways, and from what others in this thread have said it sounds like it's a regular thing to be reimbursed when you pick up the title? So I paid like $50 out of pocket after GCU and taxes, and will be going with my receipt and coupon tomorrow to pick the game up and get another $10 off. I'm sure that'll be an interesting trip.
I don't really care, I'm still buying Madden, just expected a more straightforward process from a big box retailer.

They are really disorganized and some neck beard from geek squad actually want to use my phone to see the deal. It was like something from an Adam Sandler movie. Geez.
I'm curious if I can present the $10 off coupon at any Best Buy or the one which I received it? I traded in Madden 25 at a Best Buy in Pennsylvania but am currently in Ohio on launch day.

Just got back from a Best Buy that I did not originally trade Madden 25 in and was able to redeem the $10 off coupon there.
Tried to preorder Madden at 8:57pm last night, 3 minutes before close, to get the $10 reward zone certificate but they said hell no...shot down in flames!!
Make sure you give them the $10 coupon before they scan the game. The girl that rang me up scanned the game first and it wouldn't take the coupon because I didn't tell her I had it first, even though I was holding it in my hand and she said it was too late to change it. Then I told her I didn't want the game anymore and she changed her tune and I got the $10 off
