NBA Live 15 News Post

NBA Live 15 is set to release on October 7th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Sean O’Brien, the Executive Producer of the game has posted an open letter on some details that are coming around the corner.

Below are some of the quotes, but you can read the entire article here.

Quote:
5-on-5 gameplay didn’t have the depth and polish of an EA SPORTS game and our visuals just weren’t up to expectations for a next-gen title.

We’ve scanned a majority of the league, and the new player heads, combined with refined player models and new lighting, makes our characters look really amazing.

We want teams to play just like their real-world counterparts, and to that end we’ve spent a lot of time this season talking with NBA coaches to better understand their schemes and philosophies, which we can then implement in-game.

Another equally important area of focus is improving flow and responsiveness in every area where you touch the ball, and we feel that shooting, passing and dribbling all feel much better this year.

We’ll start sharing gameplay details in July, and will continue to provide in-depth insight through August and September.

We know we’ve got a lot to prove this year, and we’ve got a solid plan in place to provide you with all the details and take the first steps to making NBA LIVE 15 a game you’re excited to play.

Another open letter? Guy might as well start a damn diary lol

It all sounds good, but lets see the results.

I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this in action. Seeing the jump in Madden, Fifa, and NFL visuals, and the leaked head scans... excited.

Not directly related to Live in this sense (although it can be argued that Live used the 13 engine), but I wonder if EA (and other developers who had launch titles on both old and new consoles) was doing double duty. As we move forward, it seems like the launch titles were just a polished port while (first title we've seen) Madden appears to be a totally new graphics engine.

I'm definitely intrigued what the new player models/graphics are going to look like.

I have confidence in EA. I was an avid Live player up until it was cancelled. I'll be buying it this year, for sure.

Every year we get told how great the next game is going to be. Then, after it's released the people who talk others into buying the game basically put their hands up & confess to it being pretty rubbish.
Seriously EA stop releasing half finished games. I don't expect your Basketball game to be as good as 2K's, I just expect it to be worth the price on the ticket.

I guess no showing at E3? If so that's disappointing, was looking forward to see something from them there. Plus, no gameplay screenshot? It's the only EA game from this season that hasn't shown an image from their game.

I can't hate on this open letter for it's honesty and because before 2K, most of us was ON THE LIVE WAGON, real talk! But EA has a very steep hill to climb to get back to where it was in the past because if it's anything like or close to last year's title, it'll end up with the same results of no one buying the game and talking bad about it. It's good to have competition between companies for sports games because I feel it brings out the best of both worlds.. We haven't had that in a long time for sport games..

I have a feeling the game will look similar to this if the other EA games are to be believed:

That part where he was dribbling with the stats is what I THOUGHT Live 14 would look like. Just like Madden pulled the okey doke and now M15 looks closer to that CGI RG3 than M25 does, I think Live did the same, or at least I hope. I'd hope the movements in all their games got the same treatment because the RG3 vid showed some awesome fluidity, but the gameplay was a whole other story. NBA Live's dribbling looks amazing in the Kyrie thing, but it didn't work that way in the actual game.

It's only June and we're already getting open letters. This does not smell good.

Didn't this happen last year as well ?

Either way.

In terms of graphics (I wont speak on gameplay because I never did buy the game....only played the demo) I want NBA 2k14/new madden Kaepernick pic type of graphics.....plain and simple. If I see screens like that, they'll catch my attention. If I see that cartoony PS2 like style again. I'll pass (like I did this year). I'm not blindly buying this game anymore. I have since the sega genesis, but will no longer do that.

Another open letter huh? This is basically the typical "Hey you know the $60 game you bought last year sucked, but this one will be better" letter.

I only have affiliation to the best product available...And right now NBA Live is not that. They've got a lot of work to do.

It's all about show and prove at this point.

Letters like this make me wish sports games would move to a 2 year development cycle. BTW Where are all the updates to NBA Live 14 they talked about post release? If they didn't fix NBA Live 14, shouldn't they have away to upgrade to NBA Live 15 at a reduced cost?

# 15 Retropyro @ 06/05/14 05:30 PM
After the brick that was 2K14, I'll give LIVE a shot this fall.

Screenshots in July!!!

At least they keep acknowledging they messed up with Live. Another year with this tech, hopefully they will improve. Gameplay is key especially in sports games.

Here is to hoping they took a GIANT leap forward in graphics, gameplay, and what ever the other problems were. If so, I will be spending $120 on basketball games this year.

Eventually they will. You can tell these guys are running out of ideas and thats why they take a feature one year only to add it the next year lol.

Seeing is believing. All hands on deck. Well see what's up in October. I do hope it's WAAAAY better than the last one.
