Anyone else kind of surprised that Oshie lost?

Thought it was kind of funny too. I heard a lot of people claim that the entire voting is rigged anyway and EA just does it as a promotion even though they already know who they want. These people claimed that Oshie would "win" because he''s more of the neutral guy (fans don't hate him like certain fans of certain teams hate Subban) and because in the US half the country fell in love with him after the Russia/US shootout...so much for that

Ugh, fan voting needs to stop. How does Bergeron make it to the finals....

Yeah, Ryan kesler was on the cover of 2k because he was one of the best two way players. Doesn't mean he deserved it.

Just saying, if this isn't a fan vote no way Bergeron cracks the top 10 candidates for the cover.

Bergeron should win this easily. How does Subban get to this point is the real question. Good player who has been great in the playoffs but he flops all the time. Easily one of the most unlikable players in the League. The guy didn't even play for Team Canada in the Olympics.

By the way Bergeron has been the real leader in Boston. He is the reason the Bruins won the President's Trophy this year, made it to the Finals in 2013 and won the Cup in 2011. He is a class act.

I've heard that EA inked Subban to a deal for the cover a while back and the vote is just a marketing tool with no actual impact. Wouldn't find it even remotely difficult to believe that after doing my undergrad studies in PR.

can you just imagine if EA just removed this and concentrate in making this game better?

I do like both of them BUT a black man for a NHL game cover would be symbolically great.

Won't buy if there's a Bruin on the cover.

SMH man like this cover voting really taking time from game development man.
Maybe not. However, all this fluff is useless to the people that just want a solid game of video game hockey, which EA hasn't delivered in years. So the fact that so much marketing time and focus is spent on such a non aspect is annoying to a lot of people.

Anyhow, Bergeron for cover athlete. I'm wondering if they will go PK for Canada, and Bergy for U.S. Completely doubt it, but you never know.

You are aware that the game developers and the marketing teams are independent of each other right?

If you took the guys running the cover vote and had them work on improving the game you would end with a pretty terrible game built by people who probably haven't ever even seen game code before.

It feels that this game has been built by people that have never seen nor played(yes I know Littmans background) hockey at times. Nor, even watched a broadcast.

I think everyone knows that EA as a company has different divisions that carry out the different aspects of building and promoting a game. It's more the fact that nobody cares about a player cover vote, or a new buzzword to describe something in this years series, instead of just fixing basic things that fans have been asking for a long time now.

Almost, but that's reserved for #19 on the Chicago Blackhawks

You think an entire coding team is required to post up a voting link on a website every once in a while and stops development? GG.

The Bergeron 15 hashtag has taken over my twitter timeline. I ****ing hate it.

Everyone hating on Bergeron is absurd. He is one of the classiest guys in the sport, endeniably one of the toughest, plays the best two way game in the NHL (will win his 2nd Selke) and showed for team Canada that if asked he can be a top line offensive minded forward. He is one of the most respected players in the league among players and media, which you can't say about Subban.

Bergeron begins a significantly higher percetage of his shifts in his own defensive zone and still maintains a higher +/- and comparable point totals to go with routinely one of the top 3 faceoff %'s in the league. The Selke vote will reflect that.

Love Bergeron. Hate the cover vote.

And can "classy" stop being used in hockey arguments? Plus =/- is an ancient and subjective stat.
