This looks beautiful! Fantastic job on the lighting, looks just like a day game with zero cloud cover should: bright colors, accurate shadowing, etc.

Before people start complaining, please realize they didn't rebuild the entire game from scratch. So yes, there are some of the same quirks from last year/gen. Many animations are still the same (helmet tap while rounding first on a HR trot).

The good:
- Lighting - It's astounding. Would love to see a gameplay clip of a night game.
- Camera angles - The new dynamic camera looks very nice and transitions very smoothly.
- Commentary - It seems pretty good this year. It was hear them talk about Ibanez's year in Seattle last year. I just hope we don't have to hear it every Angels single game.
- New cutscenes - The one at the end before the game cuts to "commercial" is quite nice.
- Crowd - That final cutscene really highlights how much better the crowd looks. Very well done, although it does look like there is one duplicate (top right, white Angels jersey with the one cut off the screen in the top right corner).

The one thing that stuck out to me in need of adjusting is the outfielders camping. With the new hardware to work with, maybe they can rebuild how outfielders track down a fly ball, rather than running to a spot and waiting.

This video just made 5/6 seem a lot farther away.

I'm assuming because on the team select screen, you can individually select what pants, shirts, and hats you want to wear. Whoever was playing most likely just picked that hat for his own reasons. I don't think it was anything errant with the game.

Commentary zzzzzzzzzzzz another year with commentary at 0

The game looks great and is visually stunning but I believe the whole game is only marginally better than the PS3 version. They added some great things but the presentation largely has remained the same, among other things. I'm aware they didn't rebuild the game and that is why I can't justify buying a PS4 now, especially knowing my PS3 save files will transfer over to the PS4. I'm playing the heck out of the PS3 version (loving it) and my guess is that MLB 15 the Show will blow my mind and that is when I will make the jump to current gen.

Game looks great no surprise, looking forward to next week. I hope this is the final year with the stale style of commentary that sounds like a reading script instead of it sounding like everyone is together in the booth.

Bingo, I picked a retro lid. It was just messing around.

I see this line written in The Show forums every year. My conclusion is that SCEA is happy with this kind of commentary and it's somewhat a game design decision which I don't see them change in the near future.
In fact I don't find so bad the commentary. Ofc it's not as good as MLB2k's but as I've mentioned SCEA have chosen the way of "more serious commentary" and "less colour commentary". Certainly it has nothing to do with limited system resources/last gen/next gen etc.

Appears to be 2007 all over again.

I hate whatever media player or whatever is used here on OS. It's really pixelated and I can't seem to get an HD option. Anyone know how to do that?

Maybe it's the player or maybe it's just me, but I thought the rocks would look better.

I always look for the youtube version and change the HD settings there to get the best look

Both videos are in the Photographic thread. Both are youtube videos.

Watching the youtube videos in HD will do you no good, either. It's only 720p and still looks like doodoo. You'll have to wait until you see it on your TV to get the true graphics.

Honestly, I am still expecting to be blown away. I don't have ridiculously high standards and I am already in love with the game on last gen. I still get a thrill out of MLB 13 so this will certainly be a big leap for me.

This. I'm not expecting über-realism at this point (it's the first release on a new console), I'm just looking forward to the game looking that much better.

Silly as it sounds, one my favorite things to do in '13 is pause the game and use the replay cam to zoom around the stadiums, sort of a personal virtual tour. I can only imagine this will be a much better experience on next-gen.

I'm with you on this as I didn't have ridiculously high expectations like so many others do. I've liked what I've seen so far and if the game plays the same as 13 (or last gen in general) I have no problems with that. Can't wait for Tuesday. The wait has been too long.

That Pujols Home Run looked AWESOME! I love the camera view. BUT, after he made contact, you will notice that his head swung around. This needs to be fixed. When someone goes Oppo Field, like he did, his head should stay down.

Go to 2:17 in this video. Basically, the same Home Run that he hit in the game. Look how his head stays still. This has been going on for years and should be an easy fix.

There are always too many opposite field homers in this game. Hope they adjust this at some point.

Lol I do the same thing in the stadiums with replay. In all star baseball they used to have stadium tours. That'd be a pretty cool feature in the future. The game looks great, I can't wait. Angel stadium is missing the big paint can to the left of the rocks though. Everything else looks really good.

The PS4 downgrades videos, you never get a true like for like comparison. Obviously the game looks a lot better on a big screen 1080p screen

And as far as this being a 2007 rehash, it is not, far from it. If you have not bought the PS3 version of the game, then you're going to be very happy with the game overall. If you own the PS3 or were using this game to justify a PS4 purchase then you're probably okay to wait.
