NBA 2K14 News Post

Ronnie and LD2K mentioned last week, during their NBA 2K14 livestream, patch #5 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 was close to being submitted to Microsoft and Sony.

Today they revealed the patch has been submitted and we should see it arrive in 10 to 14 days, possibly even sooner.

The patch will address some MyTEAM issues, update shoes and much more (that's all I could get out of them). Patch notes will be released when the patch goes live.

Maybe they should stop adding stupid updated shoes and headbands....and worry about fixing there AWFUL SERVERS that continue to drop, crash and cause connection issues on a nightly basis.

Never seen a franchise make so much money, and talk so much about being the best.....yet not be able to deliver a stable online server to connect 2 people to play a basketball game. Not too mention the endless amount of options its LOST since 2K8/9.

Consoles need a new Basketball game out simply to light a fire under 2K's ***...they've gotten complacent

I really hope they fix diamond players only having 3 sig skills! They should be special for a reason!!

The only thing I'm seeing is they added new players to myteam mode so, people, (not me) spend money trying to get them.

i just want the soundtrack to play at the end of the game...and also let the directive replay fully play without cutting off.

If they don't fix freeagency in Myplayer... then its not point picking the controller up for this game again.

IMO..

As someone from the old school who grew up playing NES, I often laugh at some of you who complain about certain things. Sure there are things that could be better with the game play but a lot of that can be fixed with sliders. Back in my day, we didn't even have sliders you spoiled rotten kids. I also don't care about being able to chose from a vast amount of sneakers ( I never have even changed any players shoes at all). As you can tell, I'm easy to please and am just amazed and thrilled at how video games have evolved. I should also mention I only play offline. Anyway, the only thing I care about is the headband thing. A player looks so much different without their headband and it just really bugs me that nothing is being done about it. I feel it's almost as bad as if James Hardens beard got removed by a bug, or dreads were suddenly replaced by a bald head. I just really hope they fix this and I'm surprised this doesn't rank higher in the complaint department people have about this game.

So...you knock us "spoiled kids" for complaining about small stuff like sliders, shoes, etc. and then all you care about is a headband?

Please get off that "back in my day" crap, we aren't back in your day and are fortunate to have technological advancements.

Dude I was right there with you man...UNTIL the headband comment..lol to be honest "back in the day" players don't care for headbands, shoes, etc. etc. etc...it's about having FUN and honestly control. Playing games like Hoopz and Double Dribble I was always in control where I wanted to go. So I honestly would like better controls that's all

i think the ability to add content to games after release is a double-edged sword. on one hand we are able to get extra content like roster updates and new players added in. but on the other hand it allows the devs to release an unfinished product and just patch it later on. it also allows them to gain extra profit with things like vc. sure we get the benefits of updates but "back in the day" as you put it developers wouldnt release a clearly unfinished and untested game like this.

If they actually fixed issues in their core modes I'd be more supportive but they're delegating resources to shoes a mere months away from their next release.

I can't help but feel that 15 is going to be as disastrous as 14.
Yeah in 15 I feel it'll be bad

Plan on not picking it up again then. They're not going to fix that big of a mistake in a 5th patch. That's a first or 2nd patch fix.

A 5th patch, while probably unprecedented in console video games, fixes very easy to fix/small issues. (In fact, a 5th patch shouldn't even be needed so anyone giving this company credit for 5 patches needs to re-evaluate the praise lol)

Ok, I see you're talking about me now, so I'll bite...It's the first game of a new console, so I'm assuming they're still working out the kinks in the game, Yeah, 6 months later still working out the kinks. According to NPD, the game is still in the Top 10 unlike Live or Madden, so it makes sense to continue to tweak the game if people are still buying it.

Plus, I thought all the hardcore fans traded in their copies of 2K and filed petitions and class action lawsuits back in December and January? Let us less hardcore players have our time... Sheesh. Lol.

You know we assume a lot about these new console and give them a ton of leeway. "Its a new console" so if you buy a new car off the lot and a week later it breaks down; you give it a pass? This is why product quality is so down, and why game companies can push out, a game that's not finished, have you suffer thru it and patch it as they see fit. People except anything they push their way simply because of the logo on the cover. Hardcore must mean hardcore for the logo, not the act of actually playing the game. Too many people acting like they got stock in these companies.

Never ignore the quality of a game you put your dollars into ma G?

Game had mad promise. I was in my 3rd season when i found out about the Freeagency. There was a ton of issues but I had already put in an 82 game season. Smh. I will def wait until i know the glitches before I buy 2K15

It better not ruin gameplay. Everytime I find a nice set of sliders, they drop a patch that ruins it.

I am "less hardcore". I am as low a hardcore player as possible. I don't even watch the NBA on TV during the regular season. Actually, I don't even really like the NBA, I just like the game of basketball. I just don't see why everyone allows these game makers all the leeway in the world.

Yea, it's a new generation, but they made a bad product. It was bad because they rushed it out for Next Gen. It's as simple as that. If you notice, they're only tweaking the aspects of the game that still make them money. Which is VC/MyTeam. 5 patches..... wow.

For example: Why is it ok that I have to sign out of my PSN account JUST TO START THE GAME. Yes, my game won't even get to the opening video unless I sign out of PSN prior to starting it up. How is that ok?

This has been beaten to death on OS, so this is my last take on it. I do enjoy the game and I've finished 5 seasons of MyCareer with one guy, but it's not a good game by any means and I don't believe 2k should be rewarded with praise for 5 patches. Glad you're having fun though! It's fun when it works correctly.

I don't think it's about giving a pass for a pass sake, but quantifying why the game had the issues it did. If this was 3 games into this generation, this is a different convo.

As you so eloquently put it, it was a rushed product, like damn near every next gen game that came out. Lol. It would be naive to think a Next-Gen wouldn't have kinks. The time from getting the Dev equipment to getting a game out the door is way too short.
