MLB 14 The Show News Post

The official trailer for the Playstation 4 version of MLB 14 The Show is now live on the internet for your viewing pleasure. The video shows off several aspects of next-gen, much of it looking incredibly good.

From the official PR out of Sony: "We know there’s a great deal of anticipation to witness the next generation of baseball video games, and we’re proud to unveil the first trailer for MLB 14 The Show on PS4. We've also included a bunch of screenshot captures from the video here.

On display are the completely rebuilt stadiums, the redone lighting engine (check out the self-shadowing at night), vastly more detailed crowds, grass and player hair rendered down to the last blade/strand, and much more. Plus, since all three versions of MLB 14 The Show (PS3, PS4, and PS Vita) support cross save functionality, anyone who already picked up this year’s game will be able to easily carry their progress over to PS4 when it launches."

What do you spot in the trailer that piques your interest?

Can't deny the beauty! The lighting is second to none.

There will be no demo. Also, last I checked there is no baseball game on PC so... In all honesty it gets old seeing PC guys post all this crap about how they've had amazing graphics for years and the consoles are catching up. No offense, but no one cares.

I agree. My last post a page or so ago explains why the console looks the way it does. I mean it looks simply beautiful for just being on console. And like you said for the only baseball game out there I think that says something with the effort they put into the game.

Cool.

Many people aren't PC gamers and have strictly played consoles. My PC gaming ended around 2002, so yes, I am pretty excited for new hardware and shiny new graphics.

Now that is a trailer, my OS comrades! Great build-up music. Even more epic to watch and listen to when hooked up to the home theater!

Interesting that they don't open up that tarp section in night games at Fenway Park, though.

PNC Park is the only stadium they have shown which has that lush of a green grass. Look at the others and tell me that they are the same. I don't believe that I have made that comment yet that in all of these trailers, I have noticed for some reason that PNC Park is significantly more "right" in the grass department than other stadiums.

I don't really want to hear all the praise mixed with zero criticism. For all we know this could be the buggiest game in years. It has happened before with a couple installments.

My small amount of whining/criticism PALES in comparison to the threads that will erupt if this game is even slightly buggy for a month or two. So you have that to look forward to I guess.

Just my side of the story anyway. I do credit their lighting and overall uppage of detail for sure and have said so. As well the fans are my most favorite improvement this year and it's clear going forward that they are making a solid foundation on PS4. Short of licking the game and cooing in its ear I really don't have anything more positive or negative to say atm.

But you aren't going to find me on one of these bandwagons. I play most of my PC games with a Sony controller so.... it isn't like I just left consoles behind. I enjoy my consoles. But let's be honest, I am hardcore techologist when it comes to gaming. These things will be pointed out because they are right there in front of my face. When anisotropic shading seems absent it looks pretty bad on the field. I mean, I can't even tell the difference with ground textures in some of these shots and I have a trained eye.

Same way I would point out the little oddities and inconsistencies in one of my favorite games like Infamous. In fact all the suggestions AKA whining just got us a patch today that removes HUD, let's us select time of day, and introduces a photomode among other things. Yes indeed, this criticism SOME guys here like to call not acceptable is actually what makes other games better.
Its hard to compare Console to PC though. The hardware is different and to keep the price range for people to buy they can't put a graphics card in it that's 400 dollars. That is what PC guys can't seem to realize. It is good to criticize a game and The show takes that into effect. They improve the game every year because of Criticism.

Dude, just stop it already and let it go, you almost (and should of) got banned last night and kehlis gave you a free pass, these arguments are doing nothing but derailing these threads.

The PC is not a target platform for MLB The Show, so I don't understand how it's relevant to this discussion.

Please move the discussion away from generalized console-to-PC comparisons. Only warning. Thanks.

As funny as that is it is off topic to what is going on here. Though if you could hear I hit my GG button for you lol.
