When you have a brand to protect and that brand is founded in masculine dominance and ego, it takes a lot to even hint that someone else is more deserving than you when it comes to the top awards in your sport.

But when The King -- and reigning MVP -- was asked who deserves this year's award the most, he may not have shouted it from the rooftops, but even LeBron knows that Kevin Durant has been 'more consistent' throughout this NBA season.

According to ESPN:
Quote:
"I would say he's [Durant] the most consistent basketball player as far as the MVP this year, man," James said. "He's put up some great numbers."

Sound Off: Who is this year's NBA MVP?

Honestly I don't know who will win it but I would be happy if LeBron or Durant won it

But LeBron has been just as Consistent as Durant this season he just doesn't have to score 30+ every game

Even when LeBron doesn't score 25+ in a game gist stats are still impressive

Also until LeBron starts to slow down athletically he will still be the best player in the NBA and Durant will be Second until he wins a Championship

Kobe was the best player in the NBA until LeBron won his FIRST Championship

But Like both so I will be happy no matter which of the 2 win it

This GIF sums it up. Durant lives at the line compared to the other scorers.

Ridiculous.

there really isnt much to debate over lebron and durant. durant has been doing more on a team with a better record. he carried his team minus westbrook for almost half a year games wise. and griffin has had a great year too but crawford was the more important piece when paul went down. when westbrook wentdown griffin had to be the man and lebron never was without either bosh or wade.

If it was actually an award for who is most valuable to their team, Noah should get it.

Even when Wade and Bosh play the LeBron is carries the Heat yeah Bosh and Wade have had their moments this but LeBron has been the Heat this year

For all this talk of Durant at the line he only averages about 2 more than LeBron.

As for the award I agree with Steelersfreak, but I really don't care who wins it. Could be Durant or LeBron, you really can't go wrong with either.

I think the more glaring stat is that he's shot about 120+ more FTs then Harden, who is second in the league....and that's about 190+ more than LeBron....per games #'s make it look closer than it really is...

Just saying...

This is what I'm saying. And I don't think he has a shot in hell but it would be nice to see him finish in that 3-4 range with a couple of first place votes..

If the one guy who voted Melo last year wasn't kicked off the voting committee he sure as hell better vote Noah this year for the same reasoning.. He ruined what should have been unanimous.

Kd hands down deserves MVP.. pound for pound Lebron is the best player in the league, fundamentally looking Kevin Durant is the best in the League no questions asked. Kevin Durant has earned the MVP in every area this yr.

Correct, but they all get superstar calls so it is what is. Durant looks frail compared to LeBron and just sells the hell out of no contact, which is a disgrace but that's more of a League problem.

I just wonder if LeBron was doing this would BTH be saying the exact same thing.

Durant (32.9%) and LeBron (31.0%) actually have very comparable usage percentages this year.

This is actually a closer race than expected. Let's look at lebron . His shooting % is better than last year he has kept his streak going with consecutive games in double figures. He is a top ten player in points per game, assists and shooting %. Durant has had an epic scoring season. He didn't pass Jordan's record for consecutive games of 25 points or more ( technicality due to game being a blow out). He is a top ten player in points per game and free throw %. Stat wise it goes to Lebron . He is a more complete basketball player. Points wise it goes to too durant. Now as far as " most valuable player" goes I think the Thunder have enough depth to get by without Durant than the heat have without Lebron. Durant should get the scoring title and lebron gets the MVP......but it's clearly based on stats .......

That's the thing, LeBron doesn't. All superstars complain, but that't not the issue here, don't get them mixed up.

Him, Melo, PG, Westbrook even..all get hit way more per game and it goes uncalled. You even touch Durant just barely and it's a foul. No questions asked. Same with Harden.

Who cares if he's frail? Show me in the rulebook where player weight is factored in to foul calls. A foul is a foul. Something called on Manute Bol should also be called on Shaq.

Right, they both have the ball a lot. But Durant shoots more than LeBron, and less efficiently. So what exactly does Durant have so far and away over LeBron or anyone else? Stats? No. Carrying a team? Look at Noah please. Defense? They've both been bad this year.

Thunder Fans(if there are any on here)are about to go thru what Bulls fans had to go thru when Derrick Rose won MVP a few years ago.

# 36 BringTheHeat @ 04/13/14 09:01 PM
In fact, just today KD tried to sell contact that isn't there on a completely clean block.

I think this is quite different.. But I think Durant deserves to win the MVP this year, I didn't feel strongly towards Rose winning it.

You're supposed to be an admitted Durant *****, right? You can do better than trying to reach for something that isn't there in that gif.

I'm thinking you were going to post one of his patented head nods. Not some reaction that ANY player would have if they got their shot cleanly blocked from behind. But then again, this is the issue I have with slow motion gifs or YouTube videos in the first place. They can be spun into whatever story the poster wants it to be.

It's not a completely normal reaction to lean in and flail your arms man. Agree to disagree I guess.

# 40 ProfessaPackMan @ 04/13/14 09:23 PM
So what is the appropriate reaction then? Especially when the shot is getting blocked from behind and you're not expecting it?
