who buys a console for 1 game? A console is a 5-7 year investment, you know ps4 had massive third party support and many games coming, ps3 support is dwindling down.
Me and almost everyone of my friends!
We all bought a PS4 over the xbox1 solely because of MLB the Show.
So if there show was the only game on ps4 and nothing else you would have gotten it? No on one truly buys a console for 1 game, they buy it for the overall package and promise of many games over many years.
well, not exactly true. I did buy a gamecube just for the resident evil remake. I had no interest in any other game on it, but it just so happen that Capcom came out with two other resident evil games later on and those were the only games I owned and played on the gamecube.

Did you pay full price for the console? That seems like a huge waste of money especially since it was ported over to the PS2 later that year lol.
I thought there were plenty of good games on the Gamecube, it's a shame you didn't play any of them.
EDIT: Nvm I thought you were talking about Resident Evil 4 which was supposed to be a Gamecube exclusive and then ended up getting ported.

I honestly don't recall if i paid full price or not, that was over 10 years ago. But pretty much back then the RE games were the only games I truely liked, after the super nintendo i didn't play games at all, i was shown resident evil on the ps1 and i was hooked , as a matter fact resident evil was only playstation game i owed for that system as well
Stadiums look better...players do not. It almost feels like they put the PS3 players into PS4 stadiums. Still buying the game of course but people saying it's a "huge" difference are exaggerating.

The player models, uniforms look very very similar. The lighting improves them somewhat though.
I was hoping to see some nice twill/dazzle textures for the uniform scripts ala 2K.
Im glad the devs have addressed the models though both here and gaf.
I will buy the ps4 because Im enjoying QC mode so much on the ps3 and most everything looks visually alot better but even if the player models arent ports as SCEA stated they still look like nothing more than hi def ps3 port and some of the hair and beards are way overdone in some cases but it can only get better after 14 and Im sure it will look better when Im playing it then all these captures and vids as this side by side isnt doing the ps4 version any favors
I bought a PS3 for The Show and got like four games for Christmas. A year later, I traded those four games in and they still had the manufacturer's packaging (unopened).
Maybe that answers your question. If The Show was the ONLY game I would play on the PS4, you bet I'd still swipe my debit card on a $500 purchase.
Crazy to some I'm sure, but it's simply that damn good.
I always look at cost broken down over time. Let's say you buy your PS4 and only The Show @ $399 and $60 respectively. You keep the system for 7 years, buy the new iteration of the The Show each year, and you play an average of 5 hours/month. Assuming fixed costs and considering electricity cost are negligible:
399 + 60 * 7 = 819
819 / 7 / 12 / 5 = 1.95
So, $1.95/hour to play ONLY The Show...and that number goes down the more hours you average per month.
As far as entertainment dollars go, seems pretty cost effective.

Well put! and The Show is well worth every penny!!!

After getting a 360 at launch, I held off on getting a PS3 at launch...till May when The Show 07 came out. I paid the $700 Canadian for one and got The Show for it...and since then not much else other than the yearly Show and a few exclusives. The 360 was my console of choice because of the much better online experience. I joke with my friends all the time that my ShowStation is pretty cool cuz it even plays BluRay movies.
That changed with this gen, I have a PS4 and yet to get an Xbox One but if I had gotten an XO, it would be for Titanfall and not much else. So yeah, it is crazy. But a lot of us do it. Like you said, The Show is actually that good.
Considering that many people are buying a PS4 just to play this, it sure does. To each their own, but I can't justify $500 for a baseball game, especially when the PS3 version is still exceptional.
