i got caught up in this mess with madden 25, and i refuse to do it with the show. My bottom line, Russell and his team has done an outstanding job, from what i am seeing, and i really appreciate them for not only making another year of great baseball, but introducing on a new next gen platform. you guys rock.
I've got a question for one of the devs. I use timing hitting. I think I read somewhere that the ps4 controller buttons are no longer pressure sensitive. My question is when using timing hitting how do you check swing a pitch? I loved that about 13.

I'm pretty sure check swinging was not about pressure, it was about the duration you held the button. If you hit the button to swing and then immediately realize it's going to be a ball and release the button, you check your swing.

I hope you are right. Before I had a ps3, I had to play mlb 2k. It was really hard to check swing. I think you had to press the button twice to do it. I was never able to do it.
Anyway, I can't wait to get the show on the ps4!!!!
I was responding to your post, not Ryan's. But to respond to your new post, yes the animation rig/skeleton is the same. So in that sense, yes, they are the same as the PS3...proportional to a human body.
We decided against the tails! :-)
Does that mean that the PS4-only animations aren't limited by the tech (i.e. Japanese & slap batting styles)? Just work that was done only on the PS4 version.
They are not the same player models. Take a look at the comparisons shots posted earlier in the thread...pretty obvious.
Thank you Woodweaver, for confirming what most of us know to be true.
Perhaps this will stop the broken record cries of some.
(and before panties start getting in a bunch....this post is NOT about whether or not the graphics/models/art/ANYTHING can't be improved upon....but about the fact that they were not "ported over" from the PS3....or "the same" as the PS3)

If I understand your question correctly, you're wondering if the new PS4-only animations could have been used in the PS3 version of the game.
The answer is yes, but there is essentially no more room.
Consider it a pledge of quality development when posters are beginning to look at things like that.
Why is it wrong to complain about the dirt if the poster feels it can look better?
Didn't someone once complain about the grass? Look at it now. If the grass didn't matter to the gameplay , why would the developers spend time improving it? Likely to make a better looking overall game.
So why not dirt? You can call the complaint ridiculous or you can actually admire the fact that dirt is the biggest issue a poster has in a game that has very little else to complain over.
But attacking the person for it? His complaints are legitimate and isn't the mantra "we should continue to push developers" something gamers abide by?
So again, explain to me why not dirt? Why not the Jays blue? Why not facial detail? Why not franchise mode? Why not whatever someone will eventually complain about because that's all they can point to when everything else looks so good?

Agreed but there is a way to complain and a way not to complain. I think that some people just don't know how "important" it is to be polite and respectuful rather than rude and arrogant when pointing out something that should be fixed or adjusted.
Its sorta like how some women moan and whine (even men) ...it never helps when they come with that kind of garbage with a snotty attitude...but when they come with respect and humility which a lot of people like these days lack > (humility) it makes a word of difference in listening and putting effort in improving. Do we honestly think most developers want to listen to criticism that is harsh, mean and disrespectful? Or "constructive criticism" that comes from a humbled person?
Though certainly a small thing, I do see the point....it is called the greatest show on dirt for a reason. And with the new grass, the smooth concrete look just jumps out a bit more.
I like that dirt you shared there...looks nice
But i still personally hold judgement on the "dirt" thing until we see things in the proper perspective (gameplay view) because these shots are all reply shots imho...they are not being seen from a gameplay perspective...im not disagree that the dirt could be improved..anything can be improved but what i mean is...i tend to be careful in judgment because being hasty results in being wrong 50% of the time when it comes to "anything".
Maybe the dirt renders are better than some think ...we'll know once we see actual game play but keep in mind another reason to hold judgement is that this game is still being developed.
Woodweaver can you confirm wether or not the jerseys without names on the back will be the same as it's always been or will there be a fix for this on the ps4 version? I've asked this in several different threads including this one and haven't been able to get at least a hint of an answer. If you can't answer i completely understand but you seem to answer a lot of questions for people and thought you might be able to respond. Thanks either way.

I don't know for sure, and the SDSU game is about to start. :-). I'll try to get you answer tomorrow.
As I believe you're talking about the skeletal models, out of curiosity what do you believe is wrong with them? Proportions? The human body hasn't changed since the ps3 was released, so do you believe they have always been incorrect?
Hi to me and many they just look like a port from the ps3 kinda like something in 2d to 3d nothing more just now in hi def and everything scea wanted to do with the ps3 but couldnt so now they just expanded on it for the ps4 so reguardless if its not the same its still looks like the ps3 ones probably do to the ps3 skeletons .
I just see a ps4 image and its the first thing that sticks out and not in a good way . I guess I dont wanna look at the near same builds for another 5 years with same gear ect as this game is a very visual one for many with the slow paced action .

I know what you mean, but it sounds like you're describing the cloth ,skin, and material graphics/textures. Even though we always refer to them as player models because we see the jersey, hat, etc. on the player, it can be a bit confusing when people talk about improving the models. Are they referring to the skeletal model (proportions), or the cloth/skin/material textures.
It sounds like you're referring to the latter which I can understand and I'm sure we'll see it improve every year.

Yeah to me if you put a ps4 and ps3 model side by side I could still see all the similar things because just like many I play the heck out it the first few months of the season so even though they changed certain textures ect I see just a ps3 model now in hi def and its funny as the ps3 models never bothered me other than looking a bit plastic so maybe its the skeleton to some degree ?
And thanks again for trying to understand because in truth this game will only get better through intelligent debate and not just blind admiration alone .
