MLB 14 The Show News Post

I'm a ballpark junkie myself. I tend to get completely engrossed in the small details of a park from the dimensions to its unique and endearing features.

It just so happens I'm one of those people that make the local baseball stadium a must visit item on my list when vacationing. One of my favorite aspects of The Show is being able to see the stadiums in pretty amazing detail. With the PlayStation 4 edition of MLB 14 The Show launching later in the year, there will be even greater detail expected within the game to explore for ballpark junkies.

Which ballpark are you excited about playing in most, and which old ballparks would you like the next-gen game to eventually include?

Busch I in St Louis - not the most aesthetically pleasing park but I attended games there with people who are no longer here. The first game I saw there, Roger Maris drove in Bobby Tolan from first base with a double in extra innings to win the game.

As far as current ballparks, Pittsburgh and San Francisco are high on the list of prettiest.

My dad and I always had baseball in common and when I was in high school it was the only thing we had in common. We didn't talk a whole lot - teen angst probably, but we ran into each others arms after Sid Bream crossed the plate in '92. I finally got my head out of my you know where and we became close friends, he ended up being my best man at my wedding, because a better man I've yet to meet. After graduation in 1994 we decided to do a baseball trip. We left NC, drove to Baltimore to see the O's play the A's (the vowel series), then onto NYC where we sat in the left field bleachers at Old New Yankee Stadium and watched the Yankees play the Angels, Tim Salmon hit a HR that landed about 5 rows behind us. From NYC onto Boston where we stayed within walking distance of Fenway and caught a game on Saturday and Sunday, Mariners v Boston. FYI - A-Roid got his first hit during that series. We had excellent seats, this was 1994 so the Red Sox were still not good, not unlike the Yankees at that time. We were about 10 rows up between home and 3rd base for both games, sweet. If you've never been to Fenway, stop what you're doing and go now. Red Sox fan or not, and I'm not, you will never look at baseball the same way after seeing a game in Boston.

Then it was onto to Cooperstown and my dad's favorite part of the trip. I am a lover of baseball history and we spent the majority of the trip debating the pros and cons of Nap Lajoie or Rogers Hornsby as our starting 2B. Anyway, my dad got to go to Mickey Mantle's place in Cooperstown, he was a kid again. Like Boston, if you have been to Cooperstown, go. But take my advice spend a few days there, get lost in the history of the game, don't rush through it. From there we went to Philadelphia (looking back at this I was a lousy travel agent, but I was trying to do it where we could see opposing teams as well as home stadiums that we wanted to) for a Dodgers/Phillies game at the Vet, but it was rained out. We left Philly and drove across Pennsylvania for a Pirates/Astros game at Three Rivers. I love Pittsburgh, everything about it. The blue collarness, the toughness, the this is our town because we built it and if you don't like it you can leave or we'll just throw you out. We got to see Bagwell crush a ball to left in this one, again great seats. From Pittsburgh to Cincinnati to see the Reds/Cubs. From there we were supposed to head to Cleveland, Chicago, and Detroit, but I had a girlfriend at the time that I missed and we'd been on the road for about 2 weeks so we decided that we'd leave from Cincy and go home. To this day I apologize for cutting the trip short, but dad always tells me he had the time of his life. I hope he knows that I did too.

My dad is still with us, thankfully, and he's now a grandpa and as good of one as he was a dad, which is to say terrific. in 2010, I won Opening Day tickets from MLB.com to any team's home opener. What did I choose.....Yankees vs. Angels in the Bronx. It was a great day (except I had pneumonia), the Yankees got their rings, it was Matsui's first game as an Angel and he got his ring as well, and Jeter hit a home run. We had nose-bleed seats, I mean 4 rows from the top of the stadium, but there's my dad with a $9 Nathan's hot dog and a grin from ear to ear. Maybe it was that or the 8 gallons of cold medicine I took, but that was a great day.

Oops forgot the topic:
Top 5 ballparks (no particular order):
Fenway Park
Old Yankee Stadium
Camden Yards
Wrigley Field
Forbes Field

I also like to play in stadiums with quirks and playing various RTTS my best player was a Right-handed hitting 3B on Houston in Minute Maid Park...I always play on Legend with slightly modified sliders and I easily had the most fun and success with that player, because I was bombing them one by one over the Crawford Boxes, giving my player the nickname "The Conductor" because of the number of times the train would be activated!!!

Busch Stadium, AT&T Park, Yankee Stadium, and Fenway are others high on my list.

I really only dislike the Trop, Safeco, and the joke of a stadium in Oakland...but I don't think I'm alone, haha

Being there in person many times a season, its not as bad as people think. It's really not as outrageous as some people will have u believe. I'm pretty sure Bernie Brewer going down a slide is just as ridiculous when u think about it. The Marlins sculpture represents the Miami Art Deco life, something our owner is very fond of. Its not for everyone and it is quirky but really, its ours. As a Marlins fan, I pride myself on it through thick and thin.

Wrigley- Lifelong Cub fan, love that place!

PNC ( day only), the backdrop of the city looked like a blackout at night, no lights in any of the buildings!

Miller park-I don't know why, but I can really hit there

I guess being a Reds fan I love playing in GABP on this game, and I love the ballpark IRL as well.

Personally I enjoy playing in all the ballparks in MLBTS. I suppose just like IRL the Rays ballpark is bland.

I'm an Orioles fan, obviously, but there's nothing better than playing in Fenway Park. The park has so much history and, as many others have stated, the quirks are what makes it so enjoyable.

I just love the scenery at Busch stadium. Seeing the gateway arch in the back is awesome.

Another favorite is old Yankee stadium. Wrigley is awesome too because of the the wall and fans sitting on roofs.

Don't want to derail the thread but this is what's holding up renovations to Wrigley. The stupid rooftop owners, liked it better back in the day when it was 2 guys in lawn chairs with a smokey joe going!

AL: New Yankee Stadium (I hit very well in that park, I hit a lot of home runs in that park, and it's a beautiful park).
NL: Chase Field (I also hit very well and I hit a lot of home runs in that park, and it's a beautiful park too).

Which division do you guys think has the best parks, collectively?

The AL East has Fenway, Camden and Yankee Stadium, which are all good and IMO Camden and Fenway are 2 of the best. But then you've got the 2 eyesores Rodgers and the Trop.

I'm thinking about which organization I want my RTTS player to get drafted by. I was thinking Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Kansas City or Atlanta. (combination of uniforms, ballparks and rosters led me to these choices).

I think I might want to be drafted by the Pirates. PNC is the most gorgeous ballpark in the game IMO, and they'll spend a lot of time in Miller Park which is another great park, and the other 3 are all more than solid. I'm not a huge fan of Wrigley or Great American but they're a lot prettier than the Trop or Rodgers Centre.
