EA Sports UFC News Post

EA Sports has released a brand new trailer for EA Sports UFC, along with some additional details, as seen below. Developer Diaries are coming soon featuring dynamic striking, submission battles, Living World and more.

Beyond Fighter Likeness
  • Reality is in the details. In the past, games could only recreate certain aspects of an athlete’s likeness. In EA SPORTS UFC, the true essence of each fighter’s appearance has been designed down to the very last detail.
  • After scanning fighters using the most advanced capture technology available, our developers have integrated high-res textures and dynamic lighting to bring an unparalleled level of realism to each and every character model in the game.
Emotion in Action
  • EA SPORTS UFC’s advanced capture process goes far beyond the surface to capture unique expressions and reactions, specific to the fighters themselves.
  • Instead of generic expressions, UFC stars will react just as they would in real life, providing a true range of emotion and credibility to fighters on the EA SPORTS UFC roster.
Octagon Awareness
  • Not only will athletes in EA SPORTS UFC each feature believable looks and personality, expect them to display a sense of awareness and intelligence throughout their fights.
  • From eyes that track opponents to facial expressions that change as each fight unfolds, every character in EA SPORTS UFC will act the way they would in a real fight.
Reach Advantage
  • Faces don’t win fights, and for that reason just as much attention has been put into each fighter’s unique physical attributes as we did their features.
  • Arms, legs and torsos have all been recreated to scale in-game, providing fighters the same advantages in EA SPORTS UFC that they would have in the real Octagon. Whether you’re powering through takedowns with Benson Henderson’s massive legs, or picking opponents apart with Jon Jones’ reach, every action in the Octagon will feel accurate and authentic.
Signature Moves
  • The UFC’s biggest personalities all do things a little differently. EA SPORTS UFC has captured hundreds of distinctive fighter animations ranging from walkout rituals to knockout celebrations that make the fighters feel more like themselves than ever before.
EA Sports UFC arrives in late Spring for Xbox One and PS4. Quite a few hands-on previews are popping up online today, check them out below.

Wow that looked amazing, hopefully the gameplay is just as good as the graphics. UFC and the show should hold me till the fall. Bring it on!

A couple of other things the video confirmed:

Multiple arenas: The MGM (you can see the MGM logo on the railings when Evans is entering the Octagon) was already confirmed but there is at least one other. The arena that Jones does his cartwheel in is significantly different than the arena Liddell and Pettis are in. Not surprised that this is the case but good to see it in the game anyway.

Randy Couture is one of the fighters in the Hayes background. Randy being in the game would maybe indicate that there will be a number of classic/hall of fame fighters in the game (Mark Coleman is also in the background). Couture is interesting though. He has a deal with EA so EA wouldnt have an issue with using him in the game but would the UFC allow it since he is on the outs with Dana right now?

Between this, the screenshots they've already released and the cover vote they've released a total of 36 fighters so far (by my count). Which means if there's nearly 100 fighters in the game, over a third of them have already been announced.

They better have a Pride Mode with Pride arena with Pride fighters in their prime in the game. So I hope EA took that idea from THQ.

Doubtful. Less than a 100 fighters in this game so I doubt that any Pride fighters are in the game. Plus I'm not sure if I even want them. I'd rather the game focus on UFC fighters of today.

I marked out for Ronda.

Still haven't seen any actual gameplay. Everything is pre-fight or replay stuff.

Wow they listened to me for once. The world must be ending. They are mining actual audio from rogan and Goldie.

Love that the face button control limbs. I love tekken so I will be able to pick up on this very quick.

The submission system sounds great as well. Will pre order ASAP.

I'm excited for this. If it lives up to the hype, it will make me have to pick up a next gen system.
I bet another 10 fighters + are DLC though which I will absolutely hate though.

I'm not a fan of DLC either, but if they're adding scanning and adding new fighters who wouldn't be in the game otherwise, then I'll pay over having to create and play with a CAF.

They scanned all of these guys at once at the UFC summit. If they add guys that they had to scan later for the DLC, I'll begrudgingly buy the DLC. If it is for guys though that they scanned originally and they make them DLC just to make more $$$ it'd be a load of crap.

Man I hope these fighters are editable for offline play. Especially if we can edit movesets.

If there are only 100 fighters in the game, I'm really disappointed that guys like Forrest Griffin, Liddell, Coleman & Couture (if Coleman & Couture) will be in it. They should focus more on active guys, and if they wanted release a "legends" pack with some of the retired ones.

Didn't Fedor have a deal with EA too? Could it mean he is in the game possibly as well?

There is no reason that EA cant port over the options that were in Fight Night so the licensed fighters should be editable. I would love if they we could edit their gear like in FN but because we are working with a new graphics system that may not be possible.

Fedor did have a deal with EA but I think its doubtful we will see him. Couture has a connection to the UFC so thats understandable.

More impressions:

This one is from a German site so you may have to translate it in Chrome.'

Two time settings: Real time or double time for faster rounds.

Career mode will have TUF in it.

Gameface is in the game. Hopefully that applies to created fighters too.

Some fighters will have their actual real life entrance music.
