As reports of problems continue to mount with NBA 2K14, some frustrated gamers have been taking their complaints to the retailers they bought the game from with some reportedly finding success in getting refunds for the game.

One such report is from Scott Burress (@ExtremeGamer) who reports that he was able to get a full refund for the game through Amazon.

I went to my local Gamestop where I bought my PS4 and 2K14 and I took the receipt but they wouldn't give me back my money. Instead I had to trade it in for $32 and put that money on the Show. I went and bought Live instead and I'm not feeling that either. Just going to roll with Madden until MLB comes out.

Nba 2k11 is still the best B-ball game ever made. I have updated my roster file and I am enjoying this game so much. 2k, you need to listen to your loyal and faithful customers....stop with the gimmicks, and go back to making this game great again.

There servers been crap for years....most their problems has nothing to do with next gen, so hope they don't use that as a excuse. It's about time people startholding 2k accountable the same way we hold other companies like EA accountable. It's no excuse for not knowing how to properly use servers, for like 5 years now. It's getting old.

I need to see if Sony will give me a refund for my digital purchase.

so this only works for digital purposes? i got mine at bestbuy and i wanna return it. but any retailers policy is once its opened you can only exchange it for the same thing...

IMO in regards to refunds it's a case by case basis. The only way you will find out about getting a refund is personally request it from wherever you bought it. I've returned several games in my lifetime even the opened ones.

I'll never give this game up. The gameplay makes up for it. I play with my friends on the weekends and I consider it the best sports game ever conceived or I ever played.

Hopefully these retailers that are giving full refunds will be giving 2K an earful. No one wants to spend $60 on a beta version of next year's game. 2K should honestly look at this as embarrassment. I'm amazed at the fact how much s*** EA has taken for the mess that is Battlefield 4, yet you still got people praising 2K for this mess of a game.

And as much as 2K guys were on OS before the next-gen version released, when problems and complaints starting hitting the site, all those dudes was ghost. Great customer service... smh

I've had the game since day one(PC and 360) and the only problem I've had is random online issues, can't connect to servers, etc. Nothing as big as anyone else on here is saying! I have 5 friends I play with and none of them have reported any problems either. Knock on wood that continues for all of us lol! Sorry to all who are having problems.

I will give a chance this year because PSN are (or was) unstable too and PS4 was launched in
November (only 2 months), but i hope 2K15 will improve the servers and 2k will have no excuse.
I believe they will remove the DRM in 2k15 and improve servers after all these events.

Reason why I didn't get PS4...

2k14 for next gen seems rushed from all of the issues that are presenting themselves and 2k14 current gen seems neglected because they had to drop everything to get next gen out with the release of ps4/xbox1.

Even though this game has issues (largely the VC and saving to a crap server), I have to hang tight. The gameplay and graphics are rockin, and. I am hopeful that I will have a full function game at some point.

At some point people will stop caring. 2K would want to communicate in a detailed and honest manner with fans...soon.

Consumers are savvy. Watch pre-orders (relative to the # of console owners) halve next year. Just because basketball fans only have sh#t (Live) to choose from doesnt mean we will buy a game that is anti-consumer.

Just to update: I took my copy back to Argos (UK), and they gave me an instant and full refund, no questions asked (the item was bought before Christmas).

It is very unusual for a UK retailer to refund a game without question (due to the fact that people will play them through and take them back for a refund). I got the distinct feeling they'd given other refunds for the same game and weren't going to argue about it.

I had a Sale of Goods Act letter with me, but didn't need it. As soon as I handed the game over they just asked for proof of purchase and gave me a refund. Just need to get my VC purchase refunded by Microsoft now!

It's all Lebron's fault IMO.

I really wanted to keep it too, but there's only a realistic window of opportunity to ask for a refund, and this game WILL come down in price, just due the fact it was one of the few launch titles (so there are loads of copies floating around and, it seems, lots of returned copies!).

What bothered me was that I'd waited over 2 weeks for a fix, 2K are constantly lying about the status of the game (and blaming people's network set ups in tickets for lost VC!) and they are rubbish at communicating. The ultimate fix could go live tonight. On the other hand, worse case scenario; we could still be sat waiting for this ridiculous game to be patched when NBA2K15 is due!!!

At least if you return it now you can buy it again when (if!) they iron out the bugs. If people actually used their consumer rights more often it might dissuade companies from releasing alpha products as retail releases!
