NBA Live 14 News Post

Think of the children. Think of the kid who plays for the school basketball team or the weekend Church league.

Think of his parents, or maybe one of his relatives, out at the local shopping mall, stopping by an electronics store and buying that kid NBA Live 14 for Christmas.

Think long and think hard about what you've done, Electronic Arts.

Were the few thousand copies NBA Live 14 will inevitably sell to mom or dad or to aunt Suzy worth the disappointment of a few thousand kids on Christmas Day?

You know the answer. You know what you've done.

And sports gamers will remember. Especially the younger ones.

I just hope EA can take the time and put the effort into it, NBA2k on the Dreamcast was a good game when it first come out, but it was no where near what NBA2k2 on the Dreamcast become, or what NBA2k14 is now, I just hope EA builds on so we can have some competition in the future, sports games as a whole in general needs it, not just basketball.

But nice review, I like that you added to what online is like, most leave that info out. Also wanted to add that I tried looking for this game at my local Walmart, they don't stock it, I looked at my local Family Video, they don't stock it either. I'm sure the sales numbers are going to be bad, and the rental numbers & rental sales will be even worse. I would of still liked to rented the game just to try it hands on no matter what the review says.

Bleacher Report -

Overall

Is the NBA Live series ready to regain its spot atop the virtual basketball world? No, it isn't, but the foundation has finally been laid to build the game to an elite level—no pun intended.

If the player models and animation can catch up to some of the mode innovation and presentation, this series could be great again. Here's a look at the PlayStation 4 version of the game by the numbers.

Graphics and Animation: 6.75

Gameplay and Realism: 7.75

Sound and Presentation: 9

Game Modes and Options: 8

Overall: 7.8

Have no idea what this guy is smoking.....

so because his opinion differs from yours he must be smoking something?

anyway not saying this will change the review but the crash issues are not specific to nba live. theyre happening on multiple games with both consoles.

3.5 out of 10? lol, not even going to say what I want to say, keep trashing the game if it makes you guys feel better.

I don't remember when I've seen OS rating a basketball game this low. Even Live 07 got 5 here. Sad.

That's exactly what I am saying yes.

What does the reviewer of this gaming site gain from trashing this game? The game trashes itself by playing the way it does.

OS and the people that review games aren't getting paid by 2K to write a bad review for this game, it doesn't give them joy to have a game be so mind numbingly bad, that a 3.5 score is all it could muster.

I would love to know how "trashing" this game makes the reviewer happy. I'm sure there's a lot more going on in his life where he doesn't need to rely on making up a wild review about a game and giving it a low rating.

The game is terrible, plain and simple. If you like it, that's fine, but just know that you like terrible video games. No one will fault you for that, but don't try and make it seem like people get ANYTHING out of reviewing this game in a biased manner, because that's not what the reviewer did at all

I really hope they patch it well enough to make it at the very least "decent"

As if people don't already know what you and the other EA's apologists have in mind. And speaking of feeling better, we're not the one who purchased Live 14 and are now having buyer's remorse and feel the need to justify the terrible purchase by defending EA's practice at every turns.

People are being harsh on the game because it gives them plenty of reasons to. EA has lied times and again and if you choose to keep your head buried in the sand it will only encourage sub-par (too light of an adjective) games such as our prime example here.

The reason for what i highlighted is because youre a "struggle Live apologist".. you dont offer any feedback to the devs about what you like and dislike that would help improve Live (in this forum, correct me if im wrong). This review details about everything liked & disliked.

The best example of a "struggle Live apologist":

I'm confused as to how graphics/animations got a 6.5 from Bleacher Report...

Is it because Joakim Noah/Shang Tsung is in the game?

Spoiler

"NBA Live 14's Ultimate Team gives gamers no way to buy or sell specific NBA players; instead, the only means of upgrading your lineup is through luck-of-the-draw player packs, which are earned by completing lengthy tournaments or by spending virtual currency/real money.

Randomized card packs are simply a bad way to build a team, as being forced to grind out a dozen games with Luke Zeller and Fab Melo as your star players is uninteresting at best and tedious at worst. Furthermore, of the three bronze packs I did manage to open, two contained duplicate cards that I had to immediately throw away."

I wonder why you don't remark this also for 2k MyTeam

You may want to sit down for this...

The person who wrote this review isn't the same person who wrote the 2K review.

Seriously, there is no shame in liking bad video games.

I really liked Clive Barker's Jericho, even though it got poor to mediocre reviews. I think some of what it did was quite brilliant. I also am not as picky about my COD type shooters. I loved the single player of Medal of Honor Tier One or whatever it was called. And I will probably like the single player of Warfighter and BF3/4, some which also got mediocre reviews. I think I just don't need as much innovation and perfect level design as some more jaded guys to enjoy myself. I also realize I would be a terrible reviewer because I'm not critical enough about these games.

But I'm critical about simulations.

I'm critical about my tactical realism based shooters which they don't make anymore. And I'm critical about my basketball games.

Otherwise, I realize it's probably crap if most people don't like it, but I have no shame admitting I have fun with it.

Now Live, however, falls even below my threshold of kinda fun, kinda crappy, but kinda pretty to be an enjoyable but flawed game.

Goro would be Defensive Player of the Year.

If you want a real good comparison on this situation, you're using the wrong game.
