NBA 2K14 News Post

IGN has posted the first NBA 2K14 next-gen review, giving it an 8.9 out of 10. In The Park, players can take their MyCAREER player into 2-on-2 half-court, 3-on-3 three-quarter-court, or 5-on-5 full-court games, unfortunately there is no sign of CREW or leagues within the mode.

They mention the MyCAREER voice acting is kind of cheesy, especially considering your player will have audio included, but the people you talk to mostly have subtitles.

In the video review, it looks like warm-ups are confirmed to be back in (for those of you worried about that from earlier videos), the graphics and animations are jaw-dropping, complete with native 1080p and 60 FPS.

Ronnie2K and LD2K will be streaming next-gen NBA 2K14 at 4:00 PM PST today, so we should be able to see and hear even more. For those that are curious, the OS review will be up a week or so after we receive the game. Nobody on staff will have a PlayStation 4 until the 15th.

I have no interest in MyGM or the Park. Cousins miming his thoughts was

The amount of loose balls is excessive. I don't think in your average NBA game you don't see it constantly. We've seen it in pretty much every video so far. Hopefully sliders can tune that.

Beyond that, the expectations for this game were way too high. Hopefully in 2K15 they can finally fix all of these legacy issues because the game does play a very good brand of basketball. They just need some fine tuning in gameplay areas such as control (we need more of it), rebounding and player movements.
You mean MyCareer right? That's what Cousins was "speaking" in.

I'm sure you have some interest in MyGM.

It's been announced that there's no 30-team control in the game. Therefore I can't edit other rosters for other teams.

Why if it turns out being a better game?

I think it may depend upon what you mean by "edit". Even when I controlled just one team in my previous Associations, I could still edit players on other teams. I just wasn't able to make trades and more or less "control" the other teams.

So you're telling me that NG NBA 2K is just slightly better than Madden? Lol.
We'll find out when we play them both.

Wish Mike or one of the marketing guys would give a bit more insight into the body models (primarily arms) varying so much with the game-play videos and trailers that have been released in the last 3 weeks or so.

The game-play videos from Bug had players resembling the thin models that were in 2k8 (if you have the game check for yourself). The Real Voice trailer trailer appeared to show the same when players would be in the super man pose during the half time or post game interview. All of the arms looked quite thin. But when you go back and watch the Gamespot preview video with game-play from the HEAT/Warriors matchup players like Bogut, Curry, Lee, Bosh, Wade, and LeBron have varying upper body types. The same can be noticed immediately in the current IGN review as well. The upper body types vary once again in a GOOD way!

So why the difference in the version that was playable at the location where Bug was capturing gameplay? Just wondering about the peculiarity given the time frame.

PS--I know Mike already stated that at least one player (Rose) would be addressed.

Lol sorry but you sound like a fan boy, he was stating the obvious. We all know this is really a 2k sports fan boy site, just simply look at all the comments and scores on the post. Almost every EA post get 4.5 and people bashing it, while every 2k post receives a 8 and nothing but praise.

Having teammates be mute was a bad choice. They easily could've had teammate beefs air out with a texting mechanic or Twitter or something non-vocal. It would've been panned as well, but this is an obvious flaw that will throw a story oriented guy like myself off. (Yes, I like stories even in my awesome basketball games. Hell, I mentally came up with backgrounds for every created player I've made since I was back in elementary.)

And wow. Did I just see Kobe knock a hand off of him? That looks organic. I mean, like if that were Anthony Morrow with a different temperament he wouldn't do that? I really, really hope so. It's those little things that I lap up like a thirsty puppy.

If this game was based on visuals it would have received a 10.
Gameplay is probably a 8.6
My career is prob a 8.0
My gm is prob a 9

10+8.6+8+9= 8.9 rating

Overall I think this will be the best game on next gen....

I also believe like other Os posters that sliders will fix most issues and easily make gameplay a 9.0

Ummmm remember Visual concepts college FB game? Or MLB2k ? While this site has extremes on both sided I think the love affair with 2k is based on the product not company bias.

No. I don't like the whole owner mode aspect of MyGM setting hot dog prices and that stuff. I hope there's an option to just skip all of that stuff.

MyCareer and Park, those don't interest me either.

Then don't get the game. Good riddance. They've already said there's a season mode for you.

I think they said you can have your assistant GM do all that for you.

There's no question that 2k makes great games, but the same goes for EA. Tiger Woods, Fight Night, NBA Live(before CG), Madden before 2k that game seemed to change everyone's opinion on EA football, but when you the recently released EA getting votes of 4.5 on these forums it would have you believe the site is pro 2k. A score of 4.5=not playable if you ask me, and I just see how and gamer could consider any Madden, Live, or FIFA title not playable.

Don't know if anyone got back to you on the song.

Song sounds a lot like Jay-z's Blueprint 2 song, but this is a slightly different sample. Remix is Bandini - The Ecstacy of Gold. It is a mix of a song used in The Good The Bad and The Ugly by the same name as the Bandini remix. The song can also be found on the Blur Soundtrack (game by Activision).

Probably because the version Bug was playing in the store had no internet connection and didn't have the patch. in that Heat/Warriors vid, I don't think that was the final patched build either. So there more than likely will be a first day patch to correct some of the "thin" body types we have seen in some of the gameplay vids.

Seeing the gameplay has me wondering if sliders for CG work for NG.
