NBA 2K14 News Post

The folks at 2K Sports just posted a new screenshot with new information on MyGM mode for NBA 2K14. The screenshots features an owner attribute screen, with a total budget for your franchise with player budgets and payrolls, staff budget, and a budget for team operations -- indicating the possibility of some pretty intense financial options in MyGM mode.

Also, each owner appears to have a set of preferences which will likely act as ratings, with money, team success and image, involvement, franchise morale, and patience being roles in how they approach your management of their franchise.

In the image description, it appears some owners will even try to veto and/or override your decisions on a regular basis.

UPDATE: Another screenshot has been released with a few more details.

Quote:
In NBA 2K14’s MyGM mode, your owner will give you a list of Demands and Wishlists, all based on his personality, that he will want you to accomplish throughout the season and offseason. If you venture too far off course, you’ll likely find yourself unemployed. Do well enough, and you’ll be afforded the opportunity to be your own boss when your purchase your own NBA franchise.

What do you think about the Owners aspect of MyGM?

This is more of an encouraging screenshot, it'll be interesting to find out what is classfied within the "team operations" budget of 35 million.

Also you see the Lakers are rated as 89 offense, 62 defense, in prior years I don't remember there being this wide a disparity in ratings. Hopefully this means that the sim engine now has a wider range of results.

As said before, who's to say they didn't have injuries? From my history, simming seasons ALWAYS results in someone getting season ending injuries or missing time with severe injuries like torn mcl, acl, broken collarbone, back, etc.

How about unique owner personalities who can potentially meddle with your team? Welp, there's already two pretty big differences that already set it apart from CCF. If you don't see that, then you're choosing not to look.
exactly. they havent even touched upon what else this mode has to offer. just vaguely hinting here and there.

Those vc awards are terribly small. Have to play a whole season for two hundred vc?

It's just a fun little bonus. You're going to earn a lot more than 200vc throughout the season by just simply playing.

This looks cool. I don't know if it's really for me though. I like building a team and want the game to realize that some years I will suck. Maybe if owner firing was optional it would be better but then again sometimes I like to be fired after 6 or 7 seaons of being on one team so I can move on. Maybe if there was a difficulty option or if you could simply pick to leave a team if you wished to go to antoher one it would be better.

I think it should be apparent by now since Visual Concepts/2k refuses to answer the question, that you won't be playing any basketball in this mode. It's purely a menu system game. TERRIBLE. There is no franchise or association or season or anything mode? Might have to honestly just rent this game.

I still hope there will be an option to turn firings Off, but either way this mode sounds like a lot of fun.

They have turned the NBA 2k franchise into a text-sim. Didn't you hear?

Note to self: Going forward do not respond to users who have a new account. They are likely PBU's who are trolling.
