NCAA Football 14 News Post

Losing NCAA Football hurts, but that loss can be mitigated by an excellent Madden.

There is no need to start this off with a lie.

The end of the NCAA Football franchise hurts.

People continually blasted the game with criticism after criticism, but negatives tend to speak louder than positives, especially in our genre. Most people weren’t fooled though: we were playing a pretty good college football game every year.

Instead of having the ability to transition into the next generation of consoles, NCAA Football has to hang up the cleats. At this point, there is some serious concern as to if there will ever be another college football game on the market again.

Better yet, add alternate Thursday Night Football and NFL Network presentation into the game. Blu-ray disc space makes this possible, and it's a no-brainer considering Nessler was already part of two additional EA Sports games.

Not saying this is a necessity considering just how much needs to be improved but it'll nevertheless pique my curiosity a bit.

Agreed. I'd love the option to begin as a co-ordinator and move up to a HC spot.

I don't see why they could not have at least 2 different commentary teams to help mix it up. FIFA has a team for league play and another for international. UFC 3 had UFC commentators and then separate Pride commentators.
Doesn't seem like a big deal, but I found it makes the game more immersive.

I wish they would bring over NCAA's:

Better in-season stat banners
Halftime Show (we've been waiting forever for Madden to do this correctly)
Progressive lighting (even though it would actually just be putting it back in)

More web based franchise implementation.

Thats all fine and good, but I buy Madden for one reason and one reason only, and that is to bring my fav players from NCAA onto my team in madden. If there is no NCAA for me to get real life rookies from then there is no reason for me to ever buy madden.

1. Formation Subs. This has been needed for a very, very long time.

2. Aggressive/Conservative play type options. If I'm getting torn apart by Wilson or RG3 on the ground, let me make my LB's and CB's keep an eye in the backfield.

3. Draft/Scouting Depth. The recruiting process on NCAA is infinitely better than the scouting in Madden.

4. Presentation. Crowd noises. Pumping up/Quieting the crowd. Commentary. Cutscenes. Post game recaps/stories from around the league. Every bit of it is better in NCAA.

5. Customization. Player edits, sliders, uniforms, camera angles, adding/subtracting teams, conference changes, Teambuilder, etc. All of this needs to be in Madden. If I want to realign the conferences back to what they used to be, why can't I? The rest speak for themselves.

Well everyone knows where I stand on the camera thing. And I agree 100 percent that the more options we have the better. There can NEVER be too many different ways to enjoy the game, EVER.

I have a small detail to add to Madden from NCAA. How about the option to have "Live Feed" weather from the weather channel? Love that you can do this in NCAA. Also let us choose time of day with the "system clock" option. Last but NOT least the ability to adjust the temperature for play now games. I like playing quick games late in the year in cold weather WITHOUT the friggin snow. On another note Maddens "random" weather option hasn't worked for years but its still there, WHY? Why doesn't it truly choose random weather? Why does it only give the user "windy" games? SMH

Another option from NCAA Football that I would like to see in Madden asap is the new option from this years college game. That being the option to play a "QUICK SEASON". I loved this mode in NCAA this year and played the heck out of it. CFM and dynasty modes for their respective games has just way too many things to micromanage for me. I wanna play the game with whatever team or teams I want and occaisionally check some statistics and win some available rewards. Im just not into all that other fluff. I know many like that stuff but I am not one of them, and I know im not alone.

I would like to see Madden use NCAA's player editor I hate that the only one that can wear one long sleeve is RG3. Also I would like them to take the ticker from NCAA that shows other scores from around the league.

Totally bummed about NCAA made me appreciate, then later, love College football. Madden is just ok (and I grew up diggin' watching REAL NFL games).

Customization is key! Customization in every aspect--LOVE the Defensive camera (lock) in NCAA football it makes playing long dynasty seasons much more involving. Offense and defense seem-almost-like 2 different interlocked games.

Also: COMPLETE customization of music. Not half-assed crap where only some of it can be user altered. Again, COMPLETE customization of music....Would be great if you could mute certain commentators the way you can in MLB The Show. Or never have to listen to another sideline reporter's bland spiel ever again (option to just have text pop up for injuries, etc and spend that digital space on updated in-game play by play stats).

Finally, Steal the ****e out of NFL 2k5---so many great ideas in that game! Halftime Show done by Chris Berman could not be beat--unless it was updated BY CHRIS BERMAN.

'Create a draft class' similar to the NBA 2k model...

I loved the presentation in the ESPN games. The ticker, the game breaks, it looked exactly like an ESPN presentation. Madden used to have the ticker if I remember correctly, if I am playing a game on Monday night, it should not be the only game completed for the week when I am done.

Formation subs, full player editing in all modes, and there play screen for the hurry up offense.. I would also like to see a much more aggressive AI like in college as far as going for it on 4th and short on there opponents side of the field and deferring on the kickoff sometimes. Most teams in the NFL will go for it almost all time on 4th and 1 or inches on there oppents side of the field but on Madden they'll kick a FG or punt it.

Madden is definitely going to need some kind of create a draft class too with the ability to share them with other's. There's alot of guys around here that would do a great job creating them.. It probably would turn out much better then importing them from NCAA..

Customization/ user options!!!

Custom sub packages, for even special teams basically eliminates my need for substitution menus, though may e some would prefer both.
User customization of celebrations tied to edit player
User customization of plays, or "pre-scripted" pre snap adjustments - think HC09
Custom schedules within CFM, option to "back load" user v user games to end of season
Custom draft classes, or create a class cuz EA sucks at making them
Ability, like on PS2, to customize how plays appear in playbook reorder if you will
NCAA style adjustments, especially the accelerated clock one which should like NCAA function under two minutes...
Options for "locking out" attributes from XP system
"SIM it" option for practice where CPU teams get points for their backups and human controlled teams can SIM practice for at least a portion of the points...

# 35 Greencollarbaseball @ 10/12/13 12:36 AM
It would also be nice if they took the "redshirt" option and modified it to where you could pick 8 guys and "practice squad" them.

There are some aspects of NCAA which can be incorporated into Madden but anything which incorporates any aspect of college football into Madden is a no go unless they want to get sued.

I expect the amateur draft to be strictly fictional players from nowhere.

Madden needs to add the little touches. Stat tracker for other games. Have an awareness of which games are important on the schedule. Home field advantage. Crowd reaction to big plays. Chants of defense. Better announcing. More polish.
It's like ever since madden left the booth, the game has gotten wacker. They aren't even trying to improve the presentation. I always buy it because I love football, but EA needs to look at 2k. I can play 2k all day. Madden gets boring after while. It feels tedious to play.
College football was always fun. I could play that all day.

In game coaching adjustments : the aggressive and balanced deal and should bring back the jump snap and go for the pic blah blah blah. Also the full playbook in the no huddle offense

# 39 lawflaw @ 10/14/13 12:16 PM
Loved your idea about playing a college football player's senior year and then getting drafted into the NFL. I would buy the game for that mode alone!

# 40 muse324 @ 10/14/13 01:29 PM
I miss the days when I could play every game on the schedule. Why am I just stuck to one team? I like having the option to play as either team and being able to choose before game or in game or just setting it in the middle and letting the computer play on it's own. Sort of small but it's that small level of control that makes the game for me. Possibly being able to customize any player on any team I want without having to go all the way back to my original team. It may sound a bit nit picky but it's something that was there before.
