NBA 2K14 Video - MyTeam (Multi, Single & Tiered Tournaments, Play Friends & More

2K Sports has released another NBA 2K14 video. This one showcases the new features in MyTeam. Below are some of the items of interest, check out the video for more details.

Tournaments (2K sets the rules, you can play vs. other users or AI)
Tier Tournaments (Teams consist Bronze, Silver OR Gold players)
Special Tournaments on what's going on in the NBA season
Schedule Mode - Replace an NBA team and go through the schedule with your MyTeam (Earn VC, boosters and new Sapphire players)
Give your team a name, customize your city, new logo cards
Play with Friends and Leader boards

Nice update. Not as expansive as I hoped for, but should add a lot more replay value.

On a quick re-watch, I noticed no generic shoes on any of the players (except maybe JJ Reddick at the beginning).

Im really excited about MyTeam this yr. Curious to see if any Gold players from last yr arr now silver or even bronze....

My only question is, Can I earn VC, boosters, and other rewards while playing against the AI? (offiline mode) I like the idea of MyTeam, I'd just prefer to play against the CPU.

With tournaments and leaderboards at least there is a reason to keep playing. Just really hope they're not so stingy with the VC this year.

There ya go, you can earn VC offline w/ your MyTeam against AI.

The only thing you couldn't earn last year by playing the AI is Jordan, the rest could be had some other way. Not sure if he will still be the reward for finishing Road to the Playoffs.

Watching again I don't get the "Sapphire player" concept since they showed a bunch of mediocre players--what do you mean I can earn Metta World Peace? I can't buy him from the market? Don't get it.

I'm hoping that it was just generic players and that sapphires havent been set yet.

I think what she was trying to explain is that by playing the team mode or whatever you get sapphire rewards which means you get to choose from players probably between a certain rating. I'm guessing the further you go the better players you can choose from.

I see the CAP faces are all still identical to 2k10. Maybe next gen will look better there.

So a sapphire player is nothing more than someone who is performing good IRL and then they can only be had by playing thru (w/e) mode to get sapphire players.

So does that mean that we cannot purchase players anymore?

That wouldn't work for legends, though. Maybe sapphires are the guys who are doing well right now that you get through playing the modes (for free) while you can still purchase other players or open packs for them with VC.

So the whole season thing. Does that involve playing live opponents online or is it just vs the CPU?
