This raises the importance of using the stick to double clutch. Hope this also means something was done to the gathering process. Because I don't wanna just have to block dunks in the air. Drawing proper charges or at least fouling them before they leave the floor hard will be a plus as well. Gotta be something we can do to curb player's just diving to the rim.
I'm with you 1000% Eman. It's great that they have revamped the blocking system in this series but the main problem I had with 2k13 was the inability for defenders to really initiate contact or disturb particular animations in the paint. Hopefully that issue has been addressed as well. Looking forward to hearing more.
Great news...very glad to hear there's a new blocking system...that's the important thing
Too much importance was put on the actual idea of blocking a dunk, which doesn't happen often IRL, rather than the real problem which was the lack of contact in the air, uninterruptible animations...
Lools good though!
I agree. It will be interesting to see if there are more realistic looking contact/collision animations mid-air between dunker and defender, if there isn't a block. Hopefully positioning and footplanting on defense will actually matter more on dunks as well, without getting slid/pushed back on defense.
I would love to see some of the hard fouls on dunks, dunk on animations, etc that there was in 2k11. Of course those were two-man animations which they no longer use, but boy did they look amazing!
Blocked dunks rarely happen in the NBA maybe once or twice a game at the most. So hopefully this new feature isn't overpowered because if so it will be even more Dwight users online camping in the lane....

there arent alot of blocked dunks in the nba cause players are smart enough to not try to dunk over everyone all the time like on 2k. If they did you would see ALOT more blocked dunks.
Im sure if you play smart and under control and only try to dunk when its appropriate you will have a realistic amount of blocked dunks.

an important key to this new system working is that they have to add "smarter" dunk animations. It's really going to get annoying if i get my dunk blocked because my player attempted some flashy windmill animation in which he brought the ball down low and "exposed" it to being blocked....whereas if he had just done a simple dunk animation and kept the ball up above his head, it would not have been "blockable." in that case, it would not be my fault for getting it blocked, it would be the game's fault for giving me a crazy dunk animation that was too easy to block. players should always do simpler dunks and keep the ball above their head to avoid getting it blocked as much as possible.
players shouldn't be doing crazy windmills in traffic and exposing the ball to getting blocked. windmills and other "easily blockable" dunks should only be attempted on fast breaks with no defender around.
I hope we have more control over what dunks we choose to attempt. If the power dunks are easier to block, I might want to opt for the quick basic dunk instead.
Personally, when people start gloating over mess like this it only persuades them to continue ignoring the wonky gameplay. Now the CPU will be overkill and blocking multiple dunks per game. When in reality, it is RARE when a dunk gets blocked in the NBA. Which is why it's a beautiful thing when it does happen. I just don't see it playing out on this game. Too often in the past dunks were getting blocked in the most wonky and stupid ways.
2K needs to concern themselves strictly with the gameplay, and suction animations, and canned animations. Not interested in dunks being blocked.

That's only if you're trying to dunk at times when you shouldn't and if you're playing on HOF, which is naturally overkill.
It's a shame this is considered a new feature. 2k really pulled an easports tactic this year by not including dunk blocks, just to say its new next year. Ea couldnt have gotten away with this people woulda murdered them for it but theres a double standard and it might be deserved. All in all tho I really hope the defense as a whole has been reworked and there is more than 1 game update!
I was just about to comment on this. Lol @ "THIS year you'll be able to block dunks!!!" How in the hell do you justify last year's game NOT being able to do so??? And people are all getting excited Lol. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're back in but it's something that should never have been left out in the first place.

Good call. My brother and I have a bad habit recently of pausing the game and replaying all the times our right handed player had a clear path to the backboard but instead opted to stop their momentum, go completely out of their way, attempt a layup or dunk at the front of the rim, with the off hand, right into the teeth of the waiting defense.
That said, I still think there's a time and a place for flashy dunks in the half court, just not if they're obviously going to lead to an easy block. For instance, if a prime Vince ever made a video game appearance, I wouldn't want to be unable to pull this off just because there's defenders waiting:
hopefully this means the removal of Left Trigger blocking!!!!! leave it to the users skill to successfully block dunks not some CPU shot contest from holding a trigger

so you say they should ignore one he of biggest handicaps on defense? Son I am disappoint

Yeah, it would be nice if they added back the controls for dunking like they used to have in 2k11 were you could choose what kind of dunk you wanted to perform based on the direction of the right stick. In 2k13 it looks like the only one you can manually control yourself is the reverse dunk (down on RS).
