Hearing about the new block system is all fine and dandy but we need to see gameplay to see how much it really changed. Please 2k don't go back to 2k12 elbow/leg block system...

It is a whole new system so it is not like what you played in 2k12. The hand finds the ball really well. And for the person above who asked yes you can smack the ball like Javale in that first block anyway. I did it a couple of times and it feels really good.
DISCLAIMER. This is no way means there will never be a time when something other than the hand blocks the shot dunk layup etc. The build I played can and possibly has changed a great amount since my experience. and any other disclaimer that you think is necessary!
I'll have to play and experience the new system, until then it's not big news to me since blocking dunks isn't a new feature, maybe the next piece of news will hype me up.
Again while dunks was only the focus since that was omitted the whole block system was upgraded. It really feels good and does enhance gameplay. You feel much less helpless when someone comes to the rack if you have a shot blocker.

All this is fine because honestly, It opens up a new level of the meta game that I like playing. I really hope they toned down the ball stripping from lay-ups and dunks if this is the case too, because it's unrealistic to see someone get stripped every time they enter a lay up animation.
Also: This will make posterizing somebody feel so satisfying. In 2k13 It's not, simply because you know that it's like a 1/100,000,000,000,000 chance they might knock the ball out of your hands. I feel like in this game, when I do my Shawn Kemp impression with my guy, I will feel super satisfied because I know that there's a good chance I could've gotten swatted into the next century.
I love that they added this but hopefully its a risk reward situation, so people can get dunked on. I would love to see more physical dunks and maybe a little altercation after???
New system sounds great. Strangely I felt 2K13's block system in the demo was better than release.
Now can we please get the uniform colors under control?
Warriors colors are off again, when they were closer last year. Why do the colors change year to year and why do they revert to wrong colors when they're almost right one year?
Its funny when people say that they hope block dunks are not overdone. But in reality 2 things keep blocked dunks at a low number in real life. 1)Players don't try to dunk on someone often in the nba and 2)people will foul you if you try and dunk on them. So my suggestion is make fouls and contact realistic as opposed to turning down blocked dunks. If the defender touches the ball then the ball should react.

This exactly. In the NBA, you don't see people attempt to dunk every play. In turn, you don't see many blocked dunks. I expect the number in 2k14 to be staggering, simply because every asshat in the world tries to drive to the rack. I know I'm going to get blocked a lot more, but I also attempt to dunk a lot more. I bet it'll be balanced fine.
It's a shame this is considered a new feature. 2k really pulled an easports tactic this year by not including dunk blocks, just to say its new next year. Ea couldnt have gotten away with this people woulda murdered them for it but theres a double standard and it might be deserved. All in all tho I really hope the defense as a whole has been reworked and there is more than 1 game update!
This raises the importance of using the stick to double clutch. Hope this also means something was done to the gathering process. Because I don't wanna just have to block dunks in the air. Drawing proper charges or at least fouling them before they leave the floor hard will be a plus as well. Gotta be something we can do to curb player's just diving to the rim.
I hope the blocking system is "overkill" - it'll make dudes really think about just trying to drive and dunk. Maybe it'll make them expand their shot selection with players like Lebron or Westbrook.
Yup, maybe the change shot command won't be redundant as usual. People will actually face a risk when they try to yam it on three defenders. This year's game did the best it could with the band-aid of making players miss dunks when there are too many people in the way, but just seeing players being able to clear defenders out of the way with a dunk animation was a complete eye-sore.
As alabamarob said though, we will need balance by being able to foul properly, including hard fouling.

Thank you Da_Czar! I look forward to spiking the ball to the stands! I hope its like the vid I showed!
Wow... Ability to block dunks in basketball game? 2k please, just stop doing those innovations to the game... What's next? I'm even too afraid to guess.
Seriously, I don't see what are 2k proud of... it should have been implemented in previous games. They just made what should have been made, cool.
