Madden NFL 25 News Post

The year was 2005 and the console was the XBOX 360. The game - Madden NFL 06, a showcase launch title for Microsoft's brand new console. Fast forward to 2013. The console is the XBOX ONE (and Playstation 4), the game is Madden NFL 25 and the comparison is inevitable.

Both games are launch titles for a new generation of hardware. Both titles had much talked about trailers. Both have been hyped as changing the way we experience video game football. But come with me and let's delve a little deeper into these two games and how EA Sports' approach has changed - and how it might have stayed the same with the Madden NFL franchise.

I think it's a bit presumptuous to think next-gen Madden 25 is instantly going to be a superb game from the get-go. Hardly any gameplay has been released apart from an in-game trailer and the Adrian Peterson footage from IGN. We have every right to question what we hear before we see proof of it in motion.

Yes, it's reassuring that the game's fully featured and equivalent in specs to its PS3/360 iterations, even going so far as to bring new things to the table...but at this stage, I'm unsure of how much of an improvement it'll actually be and skeptical of how these new ideas will be implemented in year one.

At this time I think it's best to wait until August, September or October before coming to conclusions on how much of an improvement next-gen Madden 25 will be.

The Madden 25 launch is guaranteed to be better than the Madden 06 launch.

How can I guarantee such a thing? Easy, there is literally no way it could be worse.

MOST SHOCKING..... I have not seen that trailer since it first came out. At the end of this console I have to say it was pretty damn close to what the game ended up being like.

I agree with the sentiment that the launch should not be as disastrous, but in no way am I going to crown EA. Madden has been a poor game for years, in my opinion, so I'm going to wait quite a while before trying to purchase Madden for the next-gen. I haven't since '10 and EA needs to regain my confidence in this product.

EA cannot drop the ball with Madden 25 next gen. Its now or never. I believe we will get the game we deserve come this fall.

Can anybody confirm if body weight and height actually matter in terms of physics this year?

I hope we no longer see 200 pound CB bull rush an offensive tackle, or a 300 pound DT/NT unable to break a block from a HB/FB.

Time to get another company with the NFL license as they rehash everything and sell it like it is Revolutionary
Rules (previous poster) is spot on in his comments. Given what we've now seen, a more honest assessment and article would have been "Madden NFL 25: Here We Go Again From The Looks Of It."

I don't think it has much to do with next Gen technology vs. current Gen.That's just an excuse. If it's better it's because the dev team feels compelled to work on things that have needed fixed. That very well may be the case here.I'm not sure it's going to be night and day right away unless you do Jedi mind tricks on yourself to make you believe that.

C'Mon the other game had current gen double team blocking,Sig animation for every player, and lets not forget the gen before that had a espn half time show etc.. this is on the developer talent or work ethics. The proof is in the pudding they didn't need nex gen hardware to accomplish those things the other game did but I wil give this team one year with next gen if they don't blowout the other game I'm thru with this company and see why they was voted worst for 2 years smh

I guess it will be different in some ways, but I am worried it will be similar in many ways. Playing the NCAA early release just highlights how many issues EA football games have. They are just such poorly developed sports games, that they cannot be taken seriously as simulations of the sport.

Is a new system with more power really going to change anything. Is it really, as an example, going to make the so called "physics" better and be used throughout all player interactions. Currently, the player interaction is so poor. Tackling is the same one on one, everyone else tumbleweeds over when trying to interact with the ball carrier on almost all occasions.

That's just the tip of the iceberg, with so many other issues also needing addressing. Once the videos start to come out, we'll be able to see if it is the same or not. They are surely better prepared, but their game code and development has proven they are not ready.

If they truly have re-written things and the game behaves in a totally different manner, then perhaps I will happily and excitedly sing a different tune. I just don't trust them at all. It's taken time with me to get to this point, but I am here.

Kolbe is my only hope, but I am worried that he has been EA'd as well. Hopefully he was able to convince them of the massive changes needed to get the game to replicate the sport, much like the baseball game he helped to make great.

It isn't different this time, they're still the only company making Football games, the lack of competition is keeping them from actually doing anything to improve the game.

I have some fear in the back of my mind that when they say the Next Gen version will have all of the same features as the current gen, that they are tricking us into thinking they would not remove some features from current gen to make this statement accurate if push comes to shove.

Madden was never the same once they switched to the Xbox 360 and PS3. My best Madden memories came from Madden 06 on the Gamecube. Madden 06 on Xbox 360 was a joke.

I played the Madden 25 demo for PS3 today and I wondered if the creative team behind the game even care anymore. That is all.
