NCAA Football 14 News Post

EA Sports has posted NCAA Football 14 playbook #5, which details the new Season Mode.

If you aren't into commitments and recruiting, this mode might be for you. It's basically a slimmed down 1 year dynasty. Once completed, you can start a new season with another team.

Here are a few things I'd assume will go along with this mode that will make it faster to jump into a season and be different/faster/more user friendly than Dynasty, thus making it an ok addition:

1) No creating a coach.
2) No pre-dynasty adjustments like changing options for bowls/schedules/etc.
3) No recruiting and thus no long simming time for recruiting.

That's all I could come up with. I guess the major reason this exists is for people without a favorite team who just want to play season after season with the current rosters without having to worry about anything outside of games. I don't mind that it's in because I know there are people out there who will use it. I just won't ever play it.

Love the idea of this mode. I've done this before, play individual seasons with lots of different teams, with different play styles. This is tailored to exactly how I've been playing the game the last few years.

What disc space? Why would this take any amount of disc space? There are no additional assets.
What time? Stripping down a mode takes very little time.
This is in there for casual fans who might want a more streamlined experience. It was added because it took very little effort, and some people might like it.

There is those of us who want to escape life for a few hours and play some football. No dynasty junk. This mode is PERFECT. I have been playing NCAA Football (Dynasties) since before most of you on here hit puberty. NOT YET have I completed more than two seasons of dynasty.

To be honest, I will probably pick a team from every conference to man and do this, just to get different feels, simulation, game play (without all the other dynasty junk). This mode alone will make EA some bank roll I bet.

I didn't think there was a mode that I could care less about that MUT... I was wrong.

It sims quicker for those the use it and and didn't waste much time or resources to add. If those are the best qualities for this mode, then I really don't know what to say... I guess I'm happy for those who use it.

With all that said game play looks great so I can't wait for the demo and can't wait even more for the release day. I just wish that they would improve previously added parts of the game (like coaching carousel, poll logic, team builder, etc.) before adding new modes that (looking at past history) will only be slightly improved in the coming years.

I think I will play this mode and will give the UT mode a real effort to see what all the fuss is about.

What? These smells of complaining for the sake of complaining. What's your point here?

Epic use of y'all though.

I haven't played dynasty in a while or NCAA for that matter, but how long does it take to advance a week?

Poll logic really needs revamping. Although you could argue it does in real life as well. In the past few years some of the poll results were just plain ridiculous in the game, and seemed to be getting worse.

Yeah, I am liking this a lot myself. The recruiting thing just isn't my cup of tea. I am glad dynasty is out there for those who do like it. I am not quite sure why some folks are so offended that there is now a mode that streamlines the season for those of us who are not into it

It sounds like the only thing I will be missing is Custom Scheduling.

People will simply complain for the sake of complaining, it's always been that way here.

Agreed on custom schedules. Definitely will miss that, but I get why it's not in.

Don't see how it is epic. Just a normal everyday word like any other.
How exactly does it smell of laziness? Just not getting it from his post.

I just took a dump...it took very little effort. So was it a "lazy" dump? extrapolate that for me...I'd like to hear this....

Effort is how hard you work on something. He just used the wrong word. If you put little effort into something then you aren't trying your best at it,
You drew that from that? I realize people love to hammer EA for the sake of hammering EA, and in most cases EA deserves it, but this is a serious attempt to turn an innocuous post in to something it's not based on semantics.

That wasn't the intent of his post, and I'm pretty sure you know that or at least I hope you do.

...Yeah, that's exactly what he's saying. And that's perfectly ok. Had it been really hard to add Season mode it wouldn't have been worth doing because it is a niche thing. Since it was easy they could do it without sacrificing other parts of the game.

I really like the addition, it all had to do with psychology. If I start a dynasty with a team and just play a season I feel like I'm 'missing out' on a lot of the dynasty stuff, and there's no sense of completion when the season is over. With season mode I won't get those feelings. Do I know that's all in my head? Yep. Do I care? Nope. Good addition.

That's not what he said at all. Read it in context.

You're really reaching here.

Only on OS would people find something to complain about when EA actually adds a feature people would actually use or want.

I mean if someone who is supposed to be professional is talking like this is an open forum then no wonder we are getting the quality of game we are.

And about as much effort as ea uses to create their games?

Don't take up for them. They won't ever get better if they don't get honest criticism. There is no excuse for what they have givin us this gen. When you look at the other sports games.
Yeah turning some minor comment in to something it's clearly not really will help improve the game. Well played.

thanks for the help, the community really appreciates it.
