NCAA Football 14 News Post

EA Sports has just posted NCAA Football 14 Playbook #4 on Dynasty Mode. This is part 1 of 3. The other 2 will feature Coach Skills and Power Recruiting.

Quote:
Here’s an example: if you know which players you want and would like to sign them with minimal fuss, you can invest in Insta-Commit. This higher-level skill takes a while to unlock, but it’s a must-have for anyone who spends a substantial amount of time recruiting players. This skill provides a 5% chance of instant commitment when you offer a scholarship, and goes up to 10% and 20% over the next two levels. Insta-Commit allows coaches to spend more resources on those guys who are playing hard-to-get.

Conversely, if you’re more interested in on-field bonuses, you may want to upgrade a skill like Clutch, which helps your team out in close games. This is a high-level skill that isn’t available right away, but it’s worth strong consideration once it unlocks. At its first level, Clutch will let your team start off the fourth quarter HOT if the score is within 14 points. At the next level your team stays HOT throughout the entire quarter, and when maxed out your players get VERY HOT in the final two minutes (and overtime) if the score differential is within a touchdown. The HOT and VERY HOT descriptors are dynamic ratings adjustments, so you’ll see your team perform well above their normal skills as long as they’re in those states.

Looking at the info that has come out for the Dynasty, and presentation, I truly believe this is the best EA can do. I don't even think its about the limitations of the 360 or ps3, I think this is the best they (EA) can do. The presentation is never going to be like the "other game" we revere, no deep immersion, no capturing the feeling of Saturdays. Just basic football with not a lot of frills. Once people accept this, it makes it a lot easier to not be disappointed with the info coming out. I stopped setting high expectations a while ago. There is a lot more they could have added to 14, like spring games, wrap up show, etc. Espn gameday has been one of the highest rated shows on espn for years, and yet that is not in the game? I think this is the best they can do, and I think a lot of us thought they would be so much further.

It feels like they have had to spend a lot of time undoing mistakes that were made, and redoing the things that removed, due to the transition to Current Gen. I have no idea why, but they took a big step back and have been trying to figure out how they wanted the game to move forward ever since. Just look at the changes to recruiting. It's still the same basic concept, but look at how it changed last year, and how it is now changing again this year to a style more similar to last gen. It's like they finally acknowledged the way they had it was alright, and they should have used that as the base for current gen all along. And now that they have taken the point system and added it to things like the dynamic pitches, dealbreakers, Coach Skills, etc., you would think they have a solid foundation for some improvements next year (i.e., decommits, better juco representation), and that they can make recruiting even better without taking away time and resources to add the other things Dynasty needs, like the spring games and more robust pregame/halftime/postgame presentation. But time will tell if they strip everything away and slowly add them back in again. I hope they've learned their lesson on that.

I am looking forward to '14 because I do like what is there, but this game feels like what the beginning or middle of the generation should have felt like, not the very end of it.

Exactly... This is why I have absolutely no hope for the next gen systems. I don't care if the systems are more powerful or not, not these guys just can't get it right. Especially in terms of animations and presentation, they're just clueless.

NCAA 14 is what 07 should have been on this generation. They're so far behind of where they could be it's disgusting.

I look at these presentation blogs, videos and screenshots, and all I can think is wow, people are really excited for THIS?! The most bland type of presentation they can throw at us. The camera angles look nothing like you would see on TV, in fact, there is almost no resemblance of a broadcast presentation, and this is coming from a company who owns the ESPN license! Even talking about it makes me mad..

I am sure that any other juicy details relating to dynasty and presentation will be known during E3 when people take videos of the game.
I'm really hoping we get some information on additional details added to Dynasty during that Play a Season Blog. My theory is this:

Lets be honest how much information can really be released for Play a Season blog consider its just a 1 season dynasty with no recruiting responsibilities. But EA may not have wanted to release all the dynasty/play a season presentation during the Dynasty Blog because there really isn't that much they can say about a Play a Season mode. So any additional information may have been held back to bulk up the Play a Season blog.

So overall I'm hoping there will be a few added details during the Play a Season Blog that will also be in Dynasty mode.

Just my opinion mixed in with a little bit of hope.

I could see there being enhanced presentation bits in "Play a Season" mode, mainly because the game doesn't have to worry about the future(more tailor made to that one season). More specific pre/post game, etc.
