NCAA Football 14 News Post

EA Sports has just posted NCAA Football 14 Playbook #4 on Dynasty Mode. This is part 1 of 3. The other 2 will feature Coach Skills and Power Recruiting.

Quote:
Here’s an example: if you know which players you want and would like to sign them with minimal fuss, you can invest in Insta-Commit. This higher-level skill takes a while to unlock, but it’s a must-have for anyone who spends a substantial amount of time recruiting players. This skill provides a 5% chance of instant commitment when you offer a scholarship, and goes up to 10% and 20% over the next two levels. Insta-Commit allows coaches to spend more resources on those guys who are playing hard-to-get.

Conversely, if you’re more interested in on-field bonuses, you may want to upgrade a skill like Clutch, which helps your team out in close games. This is a high-level skill that isn’t available right away, but it’s worth strong consideration once it unlocks. At its first level, Clutch will let your team start off the fourth quarter HOT if the score is within 14 points. At the next level your team stays HOT throughout the entire quarter, and when maxed out your players get VERY HOT in the final two minutes (and overtime) if the score differential is within a touchdown. The HOT and VERY HOT descriptors are dynamic ratings adjustments, so you’ll see your team perform well above their normal skills as long as they’re in those states.

Not gonna front. I change the race of players a lot. Feels weird to go into a new recruiting class and notice half of the CBs, WRs, and RBs are white. It's not anything I fault EA for though. Just allow me the ability to go and edit it.

Find me a white player named Antoine or Tyrone and I will. I don't see how it is even remotely close to racist when it's very clear certain cultures use names that others don't. Explain to me how this is taboo to speak about? I'm not saying ANYTHING negative about any race whatsoever. That's like if when people assume I'm Italian because of my last name I called them racist. Ridiculous.

THANK YOU for including previous records. I'm the type that will write down my record every year in a notepad to help keep the immersion alive. I hate being 5 years into a dynasty and I can't remember what my previous records were, or my rivals records, or who won what bowl games. If they actually implement those records into dynasty in stat overlays during games, it would really help.

*goes to finish reading*
I wish they'd keep all-time stats for each of my players as well. I'm tired of having to manually keep them in a spreadsheet after every season is over.

I fault them for it considering this wasn't the case in NCAA 12 and was in 13.

I imagine EA could be hit with a lawsuit if they separated names and positions by race. I think they're just trying to play it safe.

Again. This was the case in NCAA 12 and madden 12, so what's changed since then? Has there been a lawsuit? I don't think there has, not about race at least.

Agreed. I don't see what's stopping them archiving all of the stats. I've actually started taking pictures of the screen with my camera lol.

EA is half-assing the release this year. I remember last year at this time, when they would have some of the creators playing around with the game showing us some of the features in multiple videos. It got me excited for the release, I think has to be that I knew what I was buying and I liked it. This year all we are getting is screenshots and blogs, and 90 second videos. This year I'm not so pumped up.

I really like all the changes they have made to visits.

Not really true. The first video came out right about this time last year, and we were still getting screenshots released before this time, along with a few podcasts here and there. Seems to be going about the same to me.

Yeah, I was going to mention this....you'd have thought that they would have wanted to do one of those video podcasts to show off the improved infinity engine at the least. Make me think that either they are not very thrilled with what's been added this year or they just figured that the blog posts and screen shots would close the deal. Either way it makes me a bit more wary of what the final product will be.....the demo should be interesting.

Weren't they doing the video podcasts at the same time they were rolling out the new features? To me the absence of the team doing the video podcasts explaining the new features and improvements is what makes me skeptical about what the final product will be (the fact that they did it last year and aren't doing it this year, that is).

As they were releasing info, videos with game play, which were 10-15 mins. each, and not 90 second videos. For example the dynasty playbook came out yesterday last year, we would have gotten a 15 min. video showing the different things work like coaching carousel, recruiting, and all the other features in dynasty mode. This year all we are getting is screenshots and a blog and that is it. This makes me wonder if they are even close to being finished.

To me, I like it because it makes each coach unique. Unlike with Coach Ratings (Like in CHoops) the impact each coach makes is very noticeable. This allows us to see coaches progress in a specific way as directed by us.

Plus, I don't think it's as gimmicky or as unrealisic as some are claiming. IRL, there are some coaches who do better at certain things, be it Coaching DBs or recruiting kids.

i could only hope they make the coach skills limited like nba2k. you can only use 5 thats how they should do it.

Kudos to you for trying, but it's simply an agree to disagree situation. If someone can't immediately see why this will be fun, then truthfully nothing can be said that will sway their opinion. It'll just be posting back and forth at one another.
