Madden NFL 25 News Post

EA was scheduled to release everything we wanted to know about Connected Franchise mode in Madden NFL 25 (or at least the first half of everything we wanted to know) tonight with Madden 25's Playbook #3. Tweets are flying online that suggest EA might have cancelled their reveal tonight, pushing it back to May 20 instead with a two part reveal of the 'new' mode. It's possible EA felt they couldn't reveal just part of Connected Franchise and wait a couple of weeks to reveal the rest, so they're doing it all on the same day.

Update: EA confirms the playbook has been moved back, "We're going to reveal all Connected Franchise features on the 20th so fans can get all the news about the mode and it's features at one time. So we're not canceling the first Connected Franchise Playbook, but are rather combining it with the other one so that all the details are announced at the same time (May 20th). We'll also be supporting the announcement with assets (blogs, videos, etc.) in the days after the announcement, like what we've been doing with the already-released Playbooks."

Here is the updated schedule.
  • Connected Franchise - (May 20th)
Cement your legacy as one of the all-time greats and take ultimate control of your franchise.
  • Madden Share - (June 24th)
The best content from around the Madden NFL universe, right at your fingertips.
  • Madden Ultimate Team - (July 1st)
Enjoy new ways to play and build your team in this year’s edition of Ultimate Team.
  • All-25 (July 8th)
Celebrating 25 years of Madden NFL's best of the best.
So there you go. Are you bummed? Understanding? Anything in between?

It doesnt have anything to do with the info we will be getting eventually. Its about the fact that we were supposed to get info TODAY.

Lot of stones being thrown in here.

That will be an interesting 48 hrs, madden 25 connected franchise on the 20th and next gen Xbox the 21st. Could they have delayed it to unveil next gen madden news that same week?

Would have enjoyed to read about this mode but the wait won't kill me. I just hope it delivers.

I think it would be more likely if the reveal were the day after the Xbox reveal but who knows. That would definitely make E3 that much more interesting. It's going to be a fun next couple of weeks watching things unfold.

Hey everyone, I've been reading threads and posts for this site for a while and I finally decided to join the conversation. With all of the talk being on free run and new blocking mechanics it seems that one part of blocking is being ignored. The pass rush in this years madden is being overlooked and for me is the major aspect of the game that will determine whether I buy this years madden. To madden has always been lacking in the pass rush department and ESPN has had a better rush. But 2k nearly mastered the pass rush in APF 2k8. If you have played the game then you realize how crucial it is to have a good rush as it truly affects your approach to the game. What do you guys think? Should this be a major focus or is it an issue that can wait?

I actually forgot about this announcement today until a few minutes ago haha. My only question is, why push it back two weeks? Will something drastically change? Won't the same information get put out? Isn't it better to drag along people to continue to push the hype train?

Hopefully it got pushed back due to them adding something and not messing something up.

Has nothing to do with "hype train".

There was going to be the second part of this blog coming out on that day anyway so that doesn't even make sense. People would have read today's and then become more hyped to read the second half of it on the 20th.

Don't know what they delayed it but I"m sure there was a reason, there is no benefit to doing so.

My thoughts as well because they know they have to put something good we have been missing from madden. So i really think they r going to out smiles by on our much needed faces. So with that said its now the waiting game the song from jeoperdy now plays out...

I don't recall EA promising anything. I do recall, however, plans for there to be info distributed today, but things change. Being upset isn't going to change things. Plus, there would have been a two week wait to get the rest of the info anyway. Trust me, there would have been more questions then answers with only half the info being provided, and we still would have had to wait.

I would be a lot more understanding if EA stated they were trying to add more of our ideas in before reveal. But honestly I am not a game coder but I would have to believe they have everything in the game that is going to be in the game. I wouldn't think anything would be added at this point.

But for example if they were to say something along the lines of " We have delayed the release of today reveal to include a new halftime show or (.....). (Put something your hoping to see in parenthesis) I really believe folks would have been more understanding.

I think I can end this thread, although I'll be fueling another topic altogether. Don't read the spoiler, if you wish to continue on with the last minute PR change, anger issue, obviously.

Spoiler

I truly believe (no sheep) once they looked over the release of info they didn't like the break up . maybe for once they listened and it didn't look right. they wanted to come correct. the 20th will be here before we know it. I don't think the sky is falling or they up to something. Plans change

I didn't really mean that to sound negative. From a "business point" I just didn't understand pushing it back to one day when they could of left it split and built anticipation. My only real question in my post was if they were able to put something in or did they have take something out. Thats the only odd thing to me. I don't know how to make video games so I don't know if something - even small - could be added at this point in time. If not, I don't see the benefit of the info being pushed back. I really don't mind either way but I'm old and I will probably forget that the info will be released on the 20th haha. Thank goodness I spend a large chunk of my internet time on OS or Twitter with Steve and the OS page tweeting this stuff out.

I feel like they recognized that the majority of people care more about what this owner mode addition will bring than whatever they were set to lay out today. So they figured it would be more positive to unveil it with the other stuff to prevent another low-key, somewhat underwhelming reveal.

Really good point in that spoiler. Really interesting.

I'm more so disappointed in the fact that their aren't anymore gameplay blogs/features scheduled. I mean know we've known this, but it just hit me now that this is all we get if we're only interested in the gameplay initially. Really hope we get some next gen Madden on the 21st or at E3, because this last real edition of Madden on current gen, as well as it being the 25th edition, doesn't seem too special. It's still early though. I wonder if there is going to be a special edition like they did with 05 where they had the old school gameplay on there. That'd be pretty cool. 09 had a special 20th edition too, but I want to try to forget Madden 09, lol.

I feel I'm underwhelmed this year because there isn't the webcast they had the last few years. At least, we were able to meet the team behind the game and put a face to some of the players. Feels like I'm reading a magazine from the early 80's waiting for the next game to come out.

I still have hope there will be an announcement at E3 something regarding game play.

It feels like they have to have something big planned. Everything has been so low-key compared to the last few years. It's almost as they're trying to lull us to sleep. Even last year, we got gameplay clips and looks before E3 during the presentation casts and that's when they didn't want to show ANY gameplay. This year we've got 3 upgrades, strictly gameplay related, with no IE to hide and all we've gotten is a couple of teaser trailers relating to only one.

Just makes me wonder if that's why we haven't gotten anything else is because they'd rather show it off on next gen. I don't know, just seems a lot different this year.

Suffice it to say I've been here a long time.

LOL, I remember those days. It kinda reminds me of Terminator with the exclusive license being "judgement day" lol. Everything changed that day lol.

Anyway, I can see why the reveal got pushed back in light of the Star Wars news. I think Tiburon should have made some kind of good faith gesture tho and released some footage or some kind of small nugget of info. They didn't have to, of course, but I believe it would have squelched a lot of the angst that has come in light of the news of the delay. Say what you want about Ian, but he was good for giving little pieces of info that aren't in blogs and aren't on the back of the box. He would have given us something today to try to make up for the delay. Anyway, it's definitely not the end of the world, but I can understand why some would be frustrated.

I don't feel for EA tho. They make people like this. If they would just be honest with people, I doubt you would see so much backlash. They pushed the game back to May 20th and no one really knows why. All they need to say is "We're pushing the CF blog back to May 20th because ......." then fill in the blank. I haven't even really seen an official announcement of the delay, yet I saw "stay tuned for the first part of the connected franchise blog on May 6th" or "the first part of the connected franchise reveal will be at 9pm on May 6th" for the better part of a week. Hell, I just saw the latter yesterday. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with delaying the reveal, but I'm sure EA could have handled it much much better. Oh well, I guess we'll see if it was worth the wait on the 20th.
