Pretty much known this for a while.

Again anyone buying a WiiU for 3rd party games IMO made a mistake. I got mine for Nintendo games and the PS4 or 720 will be the all in one console... just need to decide which one!!

I refused to buy my son a Wii U. I knew he would only play 3 games on it. not worth the investment.

My son is 6 yrs old. We have Wii but he hates most of the games because of the complexity of the controls. LOL. He spends more time on 360, when I let him play games because he has an easier time with the controls.

So we go to gamestop the other day and they have WiiU with some demo games - and you have to do part of the game on the touch screen. He plays for like two minutes, sets the WiiPad (or whatever it is called) back on the stand, looks up at me and says "This thing is stupid Daddy, the controls stink and I have to keep moving my eyes from the TV to play!"

I find it funny that my kid figured out in 2 mins that Nintendo is wacky out of their minds - all their games are marketed at kids but the controls are difficult even for adults - I tried the same game and didn't even last 30 seconds before I was sick of it...

And your kid is pretty smart! My sons 15 and couldn't see past his fanboyism in order to see the downside of the console.

Agree...Only worth it if you love the Nintendo games.
I need my Mario, Zelda, Pikmen etc.. fix.

And for what it's worth the controls are hardly complicated.
The only difference is some games have touch screen additions that yeah you need to look down at the pad.
Again though I'll get my 3rd party games from the 720 or PS4 (please don't cost a fortune!!) and enjoy the WiiU for the Nintendo games.
The system SHOULD have been held off a bit and made more in line with the new systems.. however nothing can be done about that at this point.
Should probably leave the whole system talk though to the WiiU forum so mods don't get "upset" lol

The 720 is rumored to be $499 but have a cheaper version that requires a 2 year live sub (seems to support the always on rumor) don't know about the PS4 but that sounds about right.

Yeah I don't trust anything Reggie says....he said the same thing about the Wii.

That's because they're receiving so little fan support. Without a large installed user base, there is little incentive for publishers to release their games for the console.

The machine appears to be a dud, unfortunately. Nintendo's Dreamcast, perhaps.

I really don't see the Wii U as a worthwhile purchase for anyone who is serious about their sports games & I think developers see it the same way. I wouldn't be surprised to see some arcade style Football game but as for a serious simulation the Wii just isn't the right platform for it.

I think in a year or two we'll start talking about the next Wii and/or the end of the Wii U. I don't think Nintendo's first party titles are going to do enough this time around, in the glare of new consoles.

They had a window between release and the new consoles to make some inroads and really push hard and grab the spotlight and market share... and instead there's no software to release and it's outsold by the Wii.

PS4 integration is probably the only reason (at this time) that you can't say the same about the Vita.

Would be nice if it played out Sega-style and we eventually get Mario, Link, etc on the next gen consoles. Wishful thinking, I know.

What a worthless system imo. I love Mario and Zelda, but this was just a big misstep by Nintendo. They should've taken their time and release something that was at least competitive with the future.

Heh, I didn't think 13 did this bad on the Wii U, from December: http://kotaku.com/5968909/when-only-...sports-console

Ars paints a better overall picture, how its not just Madden - EA has no announced titles for Wii U and games like Battlefield 4 and Fuse are already confirmed to be not coming - and talks about the 3rd party titles that are still coming (at least for now): http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/0...i-u-this-year/

GOOD! ea can't even get the game right on the 360 and ps3. no need for them to "waste valuable time working on the WII version", when they cant even include current cleats and facemasks, the running still looks unrealistic, and the o-line play sucks.

how about vita?

EA recently laid off a bunch of people from their sports division in some type of restructuring.

This also might have something to do with no wii u version and no listing for the vita. It's only listed on xbox 360 and ps3 for retailers. (gamestop at least)

Hopefully it changes for those that want a VITA version. EA's site also only lists (so far) the PS3/360 versions.

Kinda expecting the only way you'll play Madden 25 on Vita is streamed from your PS4.

I bought a Wii U, and my son plays it DAILY. He's 4. That said, I'm a bit shocked that EA made this decision.

My son left his wii alone when he got his own 360. It hasn't been used in ages. He's fifteen and I think he only wanted one for Mario, Pokemon and Zelda...when he's working he can buy novelties like a console for each franchise exclusive title...we aint rich . He's got a decent 360 collection of his own and a library of mine he can rent .
