NCAA Football 14 News Post

EA Sports has posted another NCAA Football 14 blog. This one covers the sights and sounds from the game. There are plenty of little details in the blog, but most of you will be interested in the new camera views that are available in the game (Zoom, Wide, Coordinator).

Quote:
Last but not least is the Coordinator camera, which provides a view of the whole field initially, but dynamically zooms in during the play to follow the action. Traditionalists can still enjoy the Standard camera, but the new camera offers additional perspectives for anyone that wants to experience the game from a new angle. In addition, all these cameras will also be available in Road to Glory.

For example, i know these uniforms are already in the game now but HYPOTHETICALLY, if we had to purchase these uniforms in the store, i'd expect those crazy looking cleats to be included as part of the uniform.

That's a great point, they didn't do this last year did they? With specific cleats?

The only thing I don't like about the wide cam is there is a hidden guy on the far left (you can see his shadow plus only 10 guys are able to be seen.) I wish you could shift it over a tiny bit to the rights so we can see the entire field but with that zoomed back look. I don't want to only use coordinator cam if I want to see the entire field, but both are differently better than the old.

Guys which cam zooms in? Is it the wide cam or the coordinator cam? Sorry if I missed it

Wide:
“This full shot of the field keeps all players in frame and will allow players to keep tabs on all players at all times.”

Zoom:
“Starts off from tackle-to-tackle and stays close to the ball throughout. If you want get the perspective of the QB or one of the backs then this is a good choice.”

Coordinator:
“Provides a view of the whole field initially, but dynamically zooms in during the play to follow the action.”

the zoom cam will be the best for replicating onfield gameplay realism....looks just a bit higher than madden 13 zoom cam, which was the needed adjustment.may pick it up after skipping last year.

i really would appreciate it if they focused on the cleats as much as they did the gloves...and also add in the missing face masks.

with that said, i'll still be playing the game from the coordinator view, but i like the little cutscene close-ups of the players; i want accurate cleats and face masks because it makes the players in the game more identical to the actual players.

thank god for the new camera angles though. i havent seen these angles since i played THE OLD ncaa football 98 ame on PC over a decade ago.

The above quote comes from former University of Oregon running back Kenjon Barner, who took a few moments while he was visiting the EA SPORTS Orlando studio to talk about Oregon's love of trend-setting uniforms. While alternate and throwback jerseys have been around for years, it's hard to think of uniform variety without thinking of the Ducks. The team has been tinkering with its look since 1998, providing a staggering number of combinations of jerseys, helmets and pants.

If this is straight from a player that actually plays the game in REAL life and EA wants to represent these sentiments in the game then CLEATS should matter! I guess you'd be fine if they had the players running around in flip-flops as long as the game played well? Give me a break! EA says they want to make this game as real as possible and realized that the trend of college football is uniforms and finally getting gloves in... They should look at the variety of CLEATS that players wear to make the uni complete.

Look good, feel good, play good!
THIS!!! This is why games like nba 2k keep dominating. Not only is the gameplay smooth, but the attention to detail (from player specific shots, to tattoos and shoes) is staggering. EA keeps missing the ball on player details and thats why this game continues to fall short. With that said, get those really kool shiny cleats and facemasks IN THE GAME!

It severely pains me to say it but if the gameplay is as good as its potential this year, I would do it.
Expect that to be a new feature in NCAA 15. They will take that and run with it if they can nickel and dime us more. Forget all the other stuff wrong with the game, this will make us some $$$$

Not sure I agree that the field is bigger. The new camera angles will be fun to mess around with during a dynasty though, freshen things up here and there.

Coordinator cam looks like a great angle to play CB or safety. Only problem would be if it immediately zooms in too far once the play starts it could keep me from seeing the receiver at the line.

Wide seems alright but that flatter angle makes it harder to read the depth of the field.

It might be awesome if the camera stayed out far enough to see your player so if you're a LB then it zooms in but if you're a CB then it'll stay zoomed out.

I will not be purchasing another NCAA game until they have accurate jockstraps and cups.

If the cup sizes aren't accurate, its a no buy. Taking out the measuring type.

Ahh, I see we have a fellow OS'er who enjoys that true challenge out there on that island. I had the same thought when I saw that camera angle also. I used to play the CB position faithfully on old gen Madden/NCAA but its a bit too difficult now days with the horrendous way the players have been modeled to move about the field. Last gen the players were "weighted" down and it felt just right to play CB. Current gen the players move around too "feathery" for me to effectively play CB anymore. Oh, and I'm talking about playing the CB position from the back peddle until the play is done, not switching to the CB after the ball is thrown.

That was back when the game had the ability to get me excited and standing up in front of the screen. I still buy the games every year like an automaton, but that feeling went away when the player movement got all jacked up.

This game needs a true broadcast camera. Please do this EA.

Glad that new cameras have been added this year. I hope the Zoom camera is playable; the one in Madden 13 was a little too rigid for my liking. The Madden 10 zoom camera was awesome, and I hope the NCAA 14 one is similar.

I want to try that coordinator camera so much.
